They've sorted the crossing, although it took a while - the crossing was actually completely deactivated for about three weeks. It is now what it should be - a light controlled pedestrian crossing. So well done to the council for fixing it.
@bondsan Actually the motorist, as the first sequence should tell you it's 'Stop!', then if you go and run a pedestrian over you would see hefty fines and even points on your license. Notwithstanding the crossing isn't working right, the onus is on the vehicle operator to be cautious at pedestrian crossings.
Good news on this. The evening I posted this I emailed the details to Swansea Council's traffic peeps. I had a reply late the next day saying that they were sending an engineer to check it out.
Hopefully they can resolve this issue and make the crossing work for pedestrians as it was intended.
Well it took at least three visits by engineers, and almost a fortnight of no lights at all, but it now appears to be fixed.
There is also a sign up warning drivers that the signal priorities have changed. To be honest, the crossing should never have been used for traffic calming, and the priority should always have been for the pedestrians (the clue is in the name: PEDESTRIAN CROSSING).
In Wales the driver has the right of way. Pedestrians get cooked!

I'm shocked considering all the children using that particular crossing.
