This was the best Streets of Rage by far, the first one was so inferior to Double Dragon it wasn't funny, and the third one is way too hard and ruined the characters.

by the way, it is possible to hold someone and have the other person wail on them. It's a spacing thing, and the person holding has to keep the hold fresh.

Hey Jam, KeyranSolo from NT forums here. Great review, I loved playing this game back in the day and still enjoy it now. Streets of Rage 1 is my favourite in the series.
