(although there would be impact trauma) Plus, you can carry much more ammunition in, let's say a 9mm or a .45 acp. However, large pistol rounds are still useful for hunting big game or just shooting for fun(although .50 AE rounds are VERY expensive)

Also, the ppk and usp have just introduced in the past twenty to thirty years, and for guns that's new. The 1911 has proven itself for one hundred years now, the ppk and usp aren't even close. Relibillity wise, the ppk and usp fare pretty OK, but the 1911 has the longest track record for reliblillity. Also, the ppk and usp are 9mm, therefor, they fail.

They may not be as refined as pistols made elsewhere, but they are rugged, simple and reliable, which in the end, that is all that is needed. I carry a Makarov myself when the Hi Power is not dress appropriate.
