wwe should've kept both cruiserweight titles. Since the brand extension is over(effectively that is) dump the US and World Titles through unification with the IC and WWE titles of course and bring back the cruiserweight and cruiserweight tag titles. Then, you still have two WCW titles thus respecting the company and guys like Evan Bourne, Sin Cara, and Sin Cara Black etc. will have something to do.

@headbanger641 If short lived WCW Cruiserweight titles are your thing, do you remember the WCW Women's Cruiserweight Title? There was a 1997 tournament featuring women from the Japanese GAEA promotion. The tourney finals are somewhere on YouTube, and I believe it only lasted about a year, with all defenses being in Japan.

@FuturamaFinFan WCW was really starting to pull out of its funk in 2001. Steiner was champ. The roster was completely trim and lean. Nash and DDP were jobbed out to Steiner, Hogan and Sting were basically gone, and they were pushing real wrestling, with guys like Chavo Jr., Romeo/Skipper, Shane Helms, O'Haire and Palumbo, and Lance Storn and Mike Awesome getting pushed to the forefront. A total shame.

wcw was great it had its ups and downs, just like wwe did and still does today. Believe it or not WCW in 99 had a better product than WWE today, it had better wrestlers. What happened was TIme Warner owned WCW. Time Warner was owned by Ted Turner. Turner loved wrestling. By 2000, Time Warner merged with Aol. They literaly kicked Turner out of the new Aol-Time Warner company. Aol didnt want wrestling on their tvs. It wasnt just wrestling. AOL also sold their football teams.

The only thing Russo did, that had an affect on ratings, was changing a familly product, into a more adult product. He matured the product. And that was what lost more viewers. By the time WCW closed Russo hadnt been with WCw for like 6 months. The bookers were Sullivan, Terry Taylor, and a couple others. Well, Bischoff tried to buy WCW. But Aol already said "hey, you can buy it, but we wont give you a tv deal on tnt or tbs" without the tv deals, wcw was just an indy fed. So WWE bought it.

WWE eventually had 2 ideias for it. 1- wait until the top stars of wcw who still had a contract with turner (the reason why you didnt see hogan, goldberg, nash, on the invasion storyline) and create a new roster - back then raw and smackdown had one single roster on both shows - or 2- he would use wcw as a stable, end it completly, and use its library of videos and storys and titles (us title, world title). They went with the 2nd.

This was probably one of tha saddest yet most memorable nights in pro wrestling/sports entertainment PERIOD!! Not only was it groundbreaking cuz WWE was on WCW TV and tha fact that Tony yet again broke character with tha Regal crack! I REALLY wish EliX wouldve gone to WWE I mean I can imagine him and Shelton or R Truth havin some great matches or even teaming him up wit MVP!!
