so if you had a choice between the new 300zx or the SC300 wich would you choose because you loose hp with the SC300 but how much can you extract if its not stock?
WOW that Chevy needs a more aerodynamic front end. When the Z31 flew by on the second run you hear all engine, when the truck rolls by all you hear is air turbulence! EVIL truck tho!
great video, you can't tell what either of those vehicles are. leave your parents camera at home next time and go find yourself a real race on a real track, buster ass punks. blahaha FAIL!
I plan on buying a shitty s14 (hopefully a roller) and then throwing a GE in it! the only difference between a GE and GTE besides the fact the GTE is a turbo is it has oil squirters...that GE does not.
This is one of the best fly by videos I've seen in a while. You can actually get a feeling of how much ass they're hauling. *Like* Plus I got a thing for the Street Fighter car....
Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. The GE can take almost as much as the GTE can. There are several GE blocks holding over 700 RWHP reliably. The one in the Z in the video has been making over 700 RWHP for a couple years now. When properly setup and tuned, they can handle a lot of power.
@dre5491 No the internals are not weaker, you're right about the oil squirters but the problem with turboing a 2JZGE is the compression. 10:1, that can be lowered with a thicker headgasket. Otherwise both the GE and GTE motors come with FORGED pistons from the factory. Trust me on this.
@Flawlez31....have you or streetfighter ever got a chance to roll aganist SATAN and his Z?Would be a good race I would think.I watch some of his older drag vids from his first set up and it was damn nice!
@FLAZH007 Streetfighter and I are friends with SATAN and were very close to racing him back at Branson Z Fest in June. SATAN's car cracked the head and wasn't able to run unfortunately.
@FlawleZ31 Yeah.I was lookin at all the BZF's videos and didnt see his car.To bad he's not from Texas.Hopefully one of these days my z31 will atleast keep up.What kind of numbers is you Z putin out now?
@MrHuntx Its called a Lexus SC300. They're all over the place in junkyards. They have 2JZs and just need a few things changed out to make serious power.
@FlawleZ31 To make real power you need to swap out the long blocks. The NA 2jz doesn't have as strong internals, and also lacks oil squirter's. You can boost them and get about 300hp but thats really about all the room you got. If you serious power get a gte it'll save you money in the long run.
@dre5491 What's the difference from a Long Block and a Short Block in a Supra? Or any car for that matter. Suprastore had something there about it. Can't find it for the life of me. Thanks man.
@Millertalon Short blocks typically dont have all the parts on them, like the heads for one. Long block has all you need. short block would basically be the bottom end of the motor in the event you blew one and had the parts from the blown motor that could go onto the short block to make it a long block. If you dont have a motor at all, you want the long block as it is complete.
@driftingeric2k4 Thanks man. I will leave that comment in my notifications page so I don't forget this time. Which I doubt as this being the 2nd time. I knew it had SOMETHING to do with parts on or off, but unsure what was on to classify it as Long or Shortblock. Hench why mentioning I saw it in Suprastore+description. I guess it sold; they deleted it. Thanks Eric.
@FlawleZ31 I was thinking about getting a 2JZGE from a lexus......What would I have to do to get it to hold around 600hp internally? Do they have the same piston's, rod's, and crank as the GTE? If I were to turbo a 2JZGE what would you recommend I do to the engine? You can reply in a message is you want lol
When it comes to inline 6s, and racing, the 2JZ is a better choice. Much easier to buy and to get parts. If you have cash to burn, then do the RB26. I have both a MK4 Supra and Z32, so I like the 2JZ swap. Remember, you're up against V8s and you need that 2JZ advantage.
@FlawleZ31 I love everything about it except that POS 2jz motor he has got in it!! lol You know me I am a Nissan person threw and threw. Id rather sport the RB26 motor with a T88 single turbo for serious power. I think the RB motor is a better motor. But depending on how much it was then I can see why he may have chosen that motor over the RB.
@The300ZXGuru He's able to source the 2JZ for a few hundred dollars. The RB26 is several thousand for a smaller displacement motor. And a T88 on an RB26 would be extremely lazy. With his compound setup on the 2JZ it spools very quickly (GT35R as small turbo feeding the GT4580).
@FlawleZ31 I can get a T88 to spool up like crazy with porting and polishing the head and intakes. Full boost on an rb26 motor around 3500rpm at 36psi. Talk about a motor that will just crush everything on the street. My boys 240zx s14 has a rb with a t88 down in Florida and goes to Moroso and runs 8 seconds all day along. Built him that motor all day long. Solid lifters cams and exhaust work all helps get a t88 turbo to spool quickly. So if 3500 is lazy to you then I would agree.
@The300ZXGuru I'm a Nissan guy too, and there's really no power level the VG30 can't achieve. So no point in doing an RB swap. He's able to source the 2JZ for a few hundred dollars. The RB26 is several thousand for a smaller displacement motor. And a T88 on an RB26 would be extremely lazy. With his compound setup on the 2JZ it spools very quickly (GT35R as small turbo feeding the GT4580).
@The300ZXGuru 2jz is far better than a rb26. im sorry, but rb's had huge problems with oiling same as the old sr20's. Don't get me wrong i love all the rb series of engines but they all produce there torque and horsepower to far up on the powerband. 2jz have way better low end and reliability. But the rb26 has the advantage in engine response and high end torque. Dream car- 76' datsun z with rb26 swap. till then the 7m will have to do.
@mkIIIsupras Well considering I've built every single motor we are talking about here I will still prefer the RB series to the JZ series motor. Hell to be honest with you I would not even run an inline motor but rather will stick with the V style VG30DETT motor found in the 300zx. Jun/Blitz will agree with me as well since there 1991 record has not been broken to this day using a VG30DETT motor. They also tried to build a 2JZ supra to try and crush it(the record) but did not succeed.
@The300ZXGuru haha. vg30 is a great engine but is horrible to work on. If u really think the vg30 will put out more reliable power than a rb or jz ur fucked in the head. they all are great engines but inlines have a huge advantage to start with since the crankshaft is coherently balanced where v6's are not. plus the parts that u buy for a inline, u have to buy two for the vg30. the aftermarket is not quite as big for them either. I had a old vg30 single cam in a z31 and that had some snort.
@mkIIIsupras actually the engine is not horrible to work on, its pretty sweet to work on. If the motor is outside the car. Granted the motor inside the car is very difficult to work on I will give you that. Besides numbers do not lie and you can claim I am screwed up in the head all you want but facts are facts. Look at all the sports revolving around cars. NASCAR, Indy, Top fuel dragsters and so on all use V motors not inline. Sorry just the facts man
@The300ZXGuru i never said v8's were poorly balanced.actually I6's,v8's, and v12's are the only engines that are coherently balanced to start with. I4's,v6's,and v10's are incoherently balanced. racing companies could make v12's to put out just as much power. If they really wanted they could start playing with bores and strokes of v12's and make it rev to 20K rpm also. We just have v8's down to a tee so there's no reason to do anything different.
