We still have a Federal warning siren mounted on a pole outside the station...and to my knowledge it still works. Last time we pulled it...to celebrate New Years in 2000...the "rookie" pulled the switch to the full setting (10 wails) and it stuck there. Many people called 911 thinking Y2K had struck and caused some crisis because it went off some time before we could figure out which main breaker shut it off. I remember that thing calling firefighters as a kid...used to scare me at night. lol

Fire Siren is indeed a Federal STL-10 (painted grey) and he is standing right next to the pole it is on..good video for sure!!

@minesandlookouts Before they had the technology called "pagers" that alert Firefighters for Fire Calls, they had "House Sirens" that went off and all the Firefighters that heard it, would respond to the Station. We used to have I think 5, but now we have 2. One at Station 1 and one at Station 2

@CWOBabcock It' the Driver/Officer calling in him and his crew. the '1' would be the person calling it in and the '3' would be everybody else.

@301whitehall oh! gotcha! lol here in Fort Erie, they include the officer in the count. so, if there were the driver, officer, and say, 4 fire fighters made the truck, they'd simple say "Control, (unit) responding, 6 on board".... that's why it threw me off :P thanks for the quick reply, and keep the awesome video's comin! :D

and why did they blow the house siren after they started responding? i thought the siren was blown to get manpower to be able to roll the rig?

lol yes, I could hear fine. I have been hearing it that close for almost 13 years. And as for why the house siren went off then. Everybody was already at the station since thye had training, they had enough manpower to roll a rig so they just went, thats why the driver said "we're going right now!". It always goes off right after our tones, which happened here, but we were there so...ya. haha
