This is really interesting, cant its just like doing a partial mash but a full mash instead! Brilliantly simple and I dont see why it wouldnt work exactly as well as with a mash tun.
@BrewTubeUK Thanks. Thought I'd let you know I have done two 5 litre batches now, using your method. The second (your bitter sweet stout recipe) was bottled yesterday. I did have a little taste and, although flat, it tasted good. Bitter and sweet, funnily enough! I will also be doing your father's day brew. I have found this method so easy, I think if I do scale up it'll just be with a bigger pan! Incidentally, I also fermented in the pan. Saves washing up, and seemed to work fine.

What efficiency were you able to get?

@virtblue I think it was around 75%, but I couldn't swear to it.

Thanks. Very useful video. Can I just ask one stupid question - do you put the lid on the pan when boiling?

@steweddamsons It's an important question and not at all stupid. I'm lead to believe that the lid should be off.

@steweddamsons There's an idea, even less kit and less washing up required. Hope the beers turn out well. Let me know.

billytk247 1 year ago
@billytk247 for some reason an error occurs when I post the link here. I'll send it to you direct, if I can, and post it in the details for the vid.
