Mike Myers can do a Scottish accent. Irish? Not so much. But most Americans can't tell the difference, so Mike probably thought he could get away with it. Still an absolutely killer scene...especially the two fake-outs: "Sweetie, it's me, it's me...THE LEP-RECHAUN!" and "Where are you gonna go? Are you gonna go to IRELAND? I'M THE LEP-RECHAUN!"

@garethac81 Myers is Canadian so if anything he is making fun of how America views the Scottish and Irish accents or the fact that the actor that played leprechaun wasn't Irish.

@PooPoo2U I'm both Irish and Scottish. Watch the movie In The Name of the Father, the main protag. sounds Scottish, but he's Irish. I'm not saying they're the same, but I'm patronizing the ones who still think it's an Irish accent, if you get what I'm saying.
