  • WOW Coverdale really fucked the words up on this on.

  • the best peace of pure rock ever made for godsakes.....

  • I am a huge fan of Tommy Bolin but this is kind of tragic. He is perspiring heroin and booze at this point. This is like a video of the best Deep Purple tribute band ever.

  • MrTMarshy, Yes, you are most correct...this was one of the shows where Bolin could barely move his fret hand. Look and listen to the solo (if you can call it that) on this tune- Hiway Star. He barely moves his hand at all. He shot up some dope, fell asleep with his arm folded behind his back. Woke up after several hours of NO blood circulation. Wham-instant paralysis!!!!!!!!!

  • what I hate most is that nobody cared if 73' tours were taped or not. But there are tons of MK3-4 videos.

  • @5targazer that´s not true! there are more mkii videos... there weren´t enough videos because the last mkii album was terrible.

  • Tommy Bolin just can't cut it can he? Was this the tour when his hand was paralysed? Generally, I think this is a bit embarrassing. I agree with what people have said here - Bolin, Hughes and Coverdale don't do much for the mk2 stuff. Should have stuck to mark 3/4...

  • I'm a very very big Deep Purple fan ever...... but in this Live Album, in this formation.... DP looks like an amateur band.....very poor....... Mark II is the best ever.....

  • 12 pessoas não gostaram desse video???

Então eu me pergunto, porque eles olharam então???

Vão se f&%$#@** vão ver videozinho de balê então...(nada contra) mas eu não vou ver um video do Lago dos Cisnes se não gosto.

    THI'S ROCK'N'ROLL MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What MK II songs can David sing well? Not his one, that's for sure.

  • OMG ! unlistenable !!! A really bad DP cover band. Bolin may have become a legend but this was not his finest moment.......nasty.

  • It ain't DP without Ritchie!!! Period!!!

  • somzera

  • DEEP PURPLE EN QUITO ESTE 28 DE OCTUBRE. AHY NOS VEEEEEEEMOSSSSS !!!!. LO MEJOR DEL ROCK CLASICO !!

  • this guitar player sucks. Blackmore is the best guitarist who had and will have purple

  • You people are brutal-sad story about Bolin-this is history...take it or leave it-your negativity will eat you alive-go watch something you can be positive about-didn't your mother teach you that? If you do\n't have anything nice to say-shut up!

  • これが有名な最悪ギターのライブだな。

  • Awful guitarist. Why didn't the band fire Tommy Bolin before the concert?

  • Did they check to make sure this guy knew how to actually play the guitar before they hired him??

  • After ya do it in front of 20,000 people, have an account $50, Mil. Then say, "Oh dear, how awful. Listen to Made in Japan!" Synthesizer was a new word in 1975 most folks today wouldn't even recognize devices used in 1975. Imagine standing in front of the stage, watching a guitarist using a bow intended for a Bass Violin on his guitar to produce that long low organ-synthesis that seems to run right through you, while singing. It took work, a lot of work, yet they pulled it off. ;-)

  • wow how in the world did they put up w/ Bolin's playing (if you wanna call it that)

how embarrassing..he played like 6 notes, maybe so obvious he didn't put in the work, no practicing just alotta partying..well may he r.i.p..

  • @MOSKII58 Bolin nodded out from smack and slept on his left arm in a weird position for like 12 hours totally cutting off the circulation. He could not fully open his hand - hence the basic bar chord playing - He couldn't form them because his arm and hand were whacked out.

  • Respond to this video... John Lord is covering for him too in this Japan gig. The mobility can take days to return.

  • Respond to this video... Bolin had a different guitar for each song - each tuned differently so he could bar the very rudiments of Blackmore's intricate playing. He played as well as he could in that condition. He was actually a good guitar player and this is poor example but sadly the best video one of this grouping. He died not long after

  • @PRETALIATION Bolin died 1 year later.........

  • @shotguy1 I stand corrected - Right Dec 76. Only 25...

  • The camera crew should have had the decency to pack up their gear.

  • Don't forget they all were on very dirty stuff, I mean cocain, heroin, they did not know where they are! You can say "It's not this and it's not that" Whatever, the band went through various changes, but still it is the rockest band in the world. Check out Black Country Communion, that's something too. PS: Don't respond, I won't respond

  • DEEP PURPLE did the best song to hear on an autobahn!

  • I didn't mind Coverdale doing his own material in Purple, but I HATED when he tried to do Gillan's material. And Hughes didn't help.

  • @5jerry1 they are having fun instead of singing AND having fun. Thats how you lose power and concentration for good singing. But if they are serious they are amazing, especiali David and Glenn

  • After reading so many negative comments,I think alot of people have never been to a live concert before? You guys that grew up with MTV are used to seeing and hearing pristine performances on TV. Real LIVE concerts aint like that. Purple had bad nites like everyone else, but they were the KINGS of live concerts in 70's. Stones,Aerosmith,Who,I've seen em all live, and they are terrible. If you didnt know the songs, you wouldnt know what they were singing. DP is great here, absolutely great!

  • overall this doesn't sound that great but it still has good energy and i enjoyed it. coverdale sounds good and damn does he look hot in this vid!

lol@ 2:24 where the guy grabs coverdale's leg. coverdale pets his back like he's a dog or something,

  • Bolin (RIP) played virtually just one note the whole solo. They should 've got Ace Frehley in, he could have done better. And Glenn Hughes - wailing unintelligibly. I think the people climbing on stage probably wanted to turn the microphones off. Lord and Paice playing alone would have been a huge improvement. Tragic end to a great band.

  • Singing is bad, but hey, it's in '75

  • I liked the album "Come Taste the Wine." Wasn't that one with Tommy on it? Oh that revolving door of a band Deep Purple! I agree that Coverdale was too heavy handed on most of the DP material. I won't even mention his WS career... Let's just be glad Ritchie left and formed Blackmore's Rainbow! First concert I ever went to :)

  • @julieswahn You mean "COME TASTE THE BAND" :D not wine :"D

  • the fuck what happened with richie and ian?

  • It's got some good spots....But, wtf song is drug addled Bolin (rip) playing? It honestly and not to put down the band sucks gramma panties.

  • coverdale is not the one singing bad.

  • It's one thing for Coverdale to butcher his "own" material, such as Burn and so on... But now I perfectly understand why they never did "Child in Time" with this lineup....

  • Fucking crap. Bolin couldn't play for shit. Coverdale proved to be a wanker with poxy Whitesnake. Just aweful. Made in Japan. BEST live album by anyone ever.

  • tommy bolin sucks balls on this!!!

  • This is when Deep Purple were morphing in a blue-eyed soul band with Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale. Ritchie Blackmore got fed up and left - and who could blame him. This sucks!!!

  • Fuck you all!! Coverdale is the best singer they had

  • This really, really sucks. Horrible.

  • @Mojolightnin

of course it sucks... at least half of the band is flyin' high on cocaine

  • OMG!!! Whre is Ritchie Blackmoore????? that solo is horrible

  • and Wheres Ritchie Blackmoore???

  • Coverdale holds his own with his run with DP. A different sound than Gillan. Apples and oranges.....But great just the same!

  • Comment removed

  • - The best of David Coverdalle....

  • fuck bolin Ritchie the best forever, gilan is gilan but coverdale cooool man

  • gillan is gillan. mr coverdale, you sing what you can sing please!

  • Tommy Bolin can't hold the water for RITCHIE BLACKMORE !!!!!

  • Bolin has a pretty good solo here doing Stormbringer watch?v=Le4aanJJ48k

  • The solo SUCKS but the rest is very good, very energetic

  • Coverdale is a great singer, but he can't sing this one. It belongs to Ian Gillan.........

  • ....thats embarrassing!!!!

  • Whats with the guitar solo? A great band having a bad day?

  • Possibly the worst rendition with the worst guitar solo in history. Now I now why Jon Lord was so despondent as they toured - "destroying Deep Purple's reputation everywhere we went". I know Bolin & Hughes were coked up. Shame they didn't go to another band and f*ck that up! The audience deserve better than this sh!t.

  • @lukedean999

    there´s one that comes close...

last concert Paris 1975 with Ritchie...

can´t copy the link, but have a listen to this

  • @lukedean999 Ritchie was definitely capable of worse solo renditions. Just take the disastrous perfect stranger tour in 85.

The Bolin year was musical wise the bands climax

  • @lukedean999

So bad I couldn't finish listening to the whole thing. The entire MK IV lineup was largely a waste of time.

  • @Frazzo THat´s because you suck gillan´s dick......MKIV RULESSSSS

  • @bloodforgodz

another keyboard queen strikes again. There's no end to the shmucks willing to hurl crap without substance.

Look through the comments here ... you are largely alone bozo.

  • You love Rock?--Than listen to this

  • only bad thing thing here is tommy bolin...sry that solo was awful

  • I reckon the reason for this piss poor rendition, is that Tommy and Glenn were ripped to the tits on coke and H!

  • i wish i could of been a teen in the 70's...i missed out so fucking badly.

  • @leostera @leostera Ohhhh what a surprise :OOOOOOO

    You need a Nobel :OOOOOO

    -.-

  • @shotguy1 sup fella? you pointed out something pretty obvious too

  • @leostera Oh, thanks for that well grounded "argument".

  • @Rammbock well, its pretty simple...you didn't give an argument so why should i ground one? afaik hughes got far one of the most brightest vocal techniques in the rock history since he is way old and stills sings awesomely. and for the record i'm a singer too so....on the other hand if you take, lets say, gillan or coverdale or plant or almost every other rock vocalist they actually definitely shouldn't sing. listening to gillan nowadays is something really, REALLY awful.

  • @leostera Look, buddy,

    1. "Hughes is an awful singer" = subjective OPINION.

    2. "You know shit about singers" = JUDGEMENT of potential objective FACTS (you need arguments).

    3. OPINION =/= FACT.

    Got it?

On another note: Hughes is a nobody, only DP fans and die hard rock freaks know him. If you speak about vocal techniques... Pavarotti, Shajarian, Tom Jones etc. are truly special singers. Hughes is not even as powerful and distinguished as Gillan in the 70ies. Above-average, catrate like.

  • @Rammbock you are wrong about most things. Hughes has an awesome technique! He is a wonderful vocalist, and he ain't a nobody.

and to be he is better than Gillan in the 70ies but even more so now.. but we all have our opinions I suppose.

  • @leostera But let's not argue about opinions here. I totally agree with you about Gillan. He should have stopped the moment he could not sing Child in Time properly anymore. The whole lot of Deep Purple seem to have missed that dignified moment a band, a TV series, an athlete, politician etc. should stop. They just keep playing on and on with almost no creativity left. It's a sad thing to watch once celebrated people degrade themselves. The problem is: hard rock fans never grow up.

  • Good Lord!!! This is positively horrible!!!

  • then dont listening it

  • Oh dear, oh dear. If you want to hear a ruined Highway Star, then you got it now. I don't know if Tommy was high and couldn't play the solo correctly or he wasn't good enough... but this isn't what I want to hear.

  • This is one of those songs that gives me shivers down my spine.

And it's from the 70's - It's my favorite song of all time and.

  • Bolin`s guitar playing is all you need to emphasize the downside of heroin.

  • When Tommy was clean he was a brilliant guitarist. This is painful to watch!

  • @pump35 He was the best rock guitar player of his time. No one came close

  • coverdale........what a singer

  • deep purple is the best band ever period XD

  • Oh dear, how awful. Listen to "Made in Japan" !

  • BEST AUDIENCE EVERRRRR.....and you don´t need high notes to be a good singer.......coverdale rulesss

  • he often sings high notes but they seem lower because of his deep voice

  • shit thats all i can say

  • those die hardfans doesnt troubled always deep purple is great highway star with bolin is great too he does , dont forget it he is model in the rock music

  • Glenn Hughes is amazing.

  • IMO it's quite a good interpretation. coverdale is really good at this gig (he is better here than he was in 1974), hughes is obviously drunk, only the guitar solo sucks ass (compared to ritchie's), but the rest of it is good and powerful.

  • I agree! Tommy was a great guitarist, but he and Hughes ruined Deep Purple at the time with their drug and alcohol problems. Thank God we got Whitesnake and the MK.II reunion in '84. Anyway this was great. 'Come Taste The Band' is a good album, but the MK.4 lineup was never made to last. Great on record, not so great live...unfortunatly.

  • coverdale scream a lot...just watch here coverdale vocal range...he is together with Gillan the best singer of the story...wonderful voice indeed...

  • oh people what you are talking about....

I miss the voice of Ian Gillan, nothing can compare with him!!!!!!

This is Ian Gillan song... and it will be forever.....this is only pale immitation

  • AWESOME

    thanks for uploading

  • Just listen to live california 1976:that album is a masterpiece;as good as Made in Japan.

  • i don`t know if it`s as good,but it`s fantastic

  • 1:59 LOL

  • I hate thar performance, they were so wasted.

    Coverdale looks like Plant haha.

  • sound like him to when he started talking

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND THE BAND PERFORMANCE!

I LOVE COVERDALE SCREAMS AND WATCH HIM DRUNKEN...THE SONG IS NOT CORRECTLY PLAYED BUT THE ATMOSHPERE WAS INCREDIBLE...GREAT MOMENTS OF A TOXIC DRUNKEN JAMMING BAND.listen to live california 1976:that album is a masterpiece;as good as Made in Japan.

  • what coverdale screams????? he cant scream, he cant sing, he is the worst

  • he can sing but not the high notes sooo.....

  • you`re very stupid men....coverdale rules

  • @bloodforgodz right man, David fuckin' great !!!

  • @bloodforgodz Learn to spell correctly,"stupid."

  • @jeaarrg obviosly he can't scream like gillan but common he can sing

  • Coverdale, Hughes and Bolin made a mockery of MK 2 songs. They said they never liked doing them.

  • They've never said it; only Glenn Hughes said once that he didn't like playing heavy rock and roll, but that Highway Star, Smoke on The Water and such was what DP was all about, and he had do play it. And David Coverdale always had a huge respect for DP's earlier work.
