  • Why Japan, Why?

You are making it a CGI yet you suck at it.

  • guys face it, they are gonna make it a cgi....its as good as it can get =(, better than nothing

  • .....This CG work is horrible. I personally know some kids that could've done it better. They need to stop with the BS OVA's too and come out iwth a full blown Anime series that actually follows the manga.

  • Looks terrible. Needs to be hand drawn, like the comic. This lacks all texture.

  • gross.

  • that actually looked kind of fisgusting (the wobble) but otherwise this looks promising.

  • where can i get this music? who knows pls share the link

  • I'm shocked. How could Nihei choose this CG style? I wonder how closely he was involved with the production. :/

  • does anyone know if this is still in production ?

It looks like a trailer used to get funding for production, 3d wouldn't be my first choice for BLAME but it's not too bad, i could watch this !

  • The OVA was actually released in two 4 min long episodes. I've updated the info on the Vid - see the link.

  • ok that's real sad, would love to see this in full feature not two 4 minute pissy episodes ! thanks for the info !

  • This animated features were only a bonuses to the figure models. Blame! (and all Nihei's works) isnt really popular in Japan. It seems that they tried and tested the market once more, weather people were ready to buy it. If it would succeed - they could make full scale OVA. Doesn't seem so though. Maybe 'couse there is no fanservice in it.

  • I have no doubt that BLAME or BIOMEGA would do pretty well in Europe and the states, if that means being produced in one of these regions then so be it !

  • who do you know that it isnt too famous in japan?

i mean if thats true the chances for a videogames are also quite low :(

  • "who do"? You mean "why"? I think you are german so...

Etwas wie Dark Messiah of M&M.

  • It's all about visual stimulation.

A good story dose'nt get what it deserves any more :(

  • @tomnothingmoreorless I think stanislaw lem is a very good author, and most what he did, as far as I can remember was to create an atmoshphere that is alien and in a silent and unshocking way, quite frightening for the usual perception. I could argue that nihei creates this visual stimula in his way, not only through the intellect but through instinct. its all a matter of perspective I guess. I think its telling a story of isolation and dehumanisation. it would be odd if there is much chat

  • I would prefer a different art style, but I don't mind. I hope they capture the long silence and isolation and mystery of the manga. Anyway, its a Blame! film, I'm just happy we're getting one.

  • Geneon is no good for Blame! ...is a no... oh no, please don't CGI, music should techno

  • I have to agree, the CGI just sucks... And although I hate electric music, some techno or industrial stuff would suit it better.

  • Meh. Maybe it won't be bad though.

  • Honestly, I think the style of the Web-Episodes was closer to the spirit of the manga. I'm not against CGI but some parts of an modern Anime should still be drawn by hand. Evangelion 1.0 is an good example.

  • I have been waiting almost 10 years for this to be released. Frickin' totally mass awesome!!!!!

    5 STARS

  • It's out already?

  • Yeah yeah, we all know the manga is great, actually is the best i've ever read, but still, i like this, it's not Nihei yes, but it's good, don't expect the manga turned into a film, it's CG and it' s not going to look exactly like the manga, but i guess it's a fine adaptation, four stars out of five, let's just hope that the story won't change that much.

  • this looks terrible

  • So far I can say i'm pleased with Production IG's work on this, and whoever chose the piano gets a thumbs up for me.

The appleseed guys better do some improvement on the character models though, just some added effects here and there and it should be good.

Just remember don't expect it to be as good as the original manga.

Take it for what it is. Unless they say THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BLAH BLAH CHUCK NORRIS BLAH BLAH.

  • what you people are talking about? that seems great, though for atmosphere we need to see more about this so we can see is that done right. but animation was great to me.

  • I actully like it.I agree it deosn't fit very well but still looks good to me

  • Trailer = 20% OVA's ^^ Bad series, manga is super.

  • Give it a chance, unless im told otherwise this is the closest thing were getting to a BLAME! anime.

  • If you want real Blame!, GO AND READ MANGA, i hope this won't reach the surface.

  • kick ass i was waiting for a movie of blame to come out

  • Woah! The people look like people shaped balloons filled with water! I hope this is only for the promo... the logs are better so far.

  • oh, i hope this movie gets released soon.

  • this really a beta version of the animation for the CG. The music has been done for like a year. I am pretty sure Project IG already finished all the Back drops and backgrounds. I think they have been polishing the animations and getting ready for a Summer Japan 2008 release?

  • doesn't fit the books too well.

  • I think it doesn't fit the manga. The actions are to fast and all persons look like dolls.

Oh, before I forget, the colors are to intensive or wrong in IMO.

  • It actually doesnt look half bad. i think we are all just a little fanboyish when it comes to the art style cause it was so beutiful that anything but nihei's own work seems bland.

  • mmmm.. interesting

  • the animated log's looked way better than this. this CG was really poor. the movement's of the caracter's were horrible. there's already alot of CG movies with animations way better than this. look at "ratatui" for example. Even Shrek in 3D MAX is better animated than this. there's alot of expectation for this movie and i hope the scenes and caracter's animations will be up to the task. and i hope this preview isn't even close to the end result

  • A Raytraced Version without colours and hard shadows would look better. IMHO Blame! should be in black & white.

  • I can't say if it would be better for animatiom if it would be entirely B&W. Actually there are some fullcolor illustrations in the manga and they look Ok too.

But I agree that the cartoon shaders, glowing, no space warps, as well as the solid shadows would look better then this...

  • how do i find this dvd?? is it very hard to get it?

  • I always wish they would do a b/w anime that is close to the manga. I'm glad I'm not alone with this opinion.

  • This looks good.

If you think it looks like crap, I'd like to see what you guys could come up with.

  • This looks good to me not to mention it's not even finsihed yet, and don't even mention final fantasy when talk about blame.

  • Nihei didnt want to do BLAME! manga all over again in a cheesy manga to anime rendition. Although the 2d style wasnt bad, it was what he wanted.

Fo real thou this is just a trailer. On you-tube.

  • no way, no fucking way. this looks like video game filler. BLAME! is too awesome to be half-assed: it should be done as well as FFVII:AC was.

  • FFVII : was crap.

The only nice thing about it were the graphics Being fairly smooth.

This is nihie's choice to do BLAME! in CG rather than animate. I dont want to see somethign that basically IS the manga all over again. I want to see a unique rendition.

  • Hmm. It seems that I'm one of the few who are enthusiastic about the movie. But then again, most of you probably haven't seen the trailers in their full glory. Based on what I've seen so far, the movie's audio and visuals do a better job at depicting the mood and atmosphere of the series (compared to the anime OAV). You could check out the longer trailers at "ht tp : // requiem-anime . net / tracker / " (remove the spaces).

  • I agree. People should just give it a damn chance.

  • The movement looks like still needs a lot of work oh and guess what it has already been worked on this video is old! They have been tweaking everything and they say it's coming out in 2008. I consider this video an Alfa or early beta.

  • It might not be terrible, but I don't think it's possible to capture it's style in cgi.

  • exactly! Which is why its going to be very different.

  • It should have been a 2d anime just like the OVAs. This looks like it's gonna be bad.

Also why is sakan there after he kills the silcon creature? thats not how it was in the manga.

  • Disgusting.

Maybe in normal animation is better

  • BLAME FREAKING ROCKS

  • Could be better, CGI is too damn expensive. Why not go for normal animation with toned down colors?

  • I'm mostly just pleased they didn't go for the same candy colored look as the webisodes. When is the final movie coming out anyway?

  • Its not "when" - its rather "if". If this stuff will sell well... ^^

  • Gahnyyuyhhng...

anguish, despair. My hope now is that this 2nd rate production will NOT be representative of the actual movie.

  • Oh my... i don't like the CGI style, and the animations are... but I still want to see the whole movie :D

I love Niheis Stuff so Much! Blame, Noise, NSE, Biomega, I can't live without that!

  • I have seen the preview. The sound effects and the depth when you see it on larger screen is faithful to the original. Characters are not very well animated, but you cannot expect production on budget. What matters it is that Nihei landscapes, characters and stories are there. This OVA is faithful to the original manga, unlike the other 2d animation, that resembles at best vaguely the original work. I hope to see the final art soon. The scenes you see here are NOT INCLUDED in the preview DVD.

  • I think the 2d animations were spot-on perfectly faithful to the visual look of Blame! but yeah, a lot of the appeal of Blame! is the story and the characterization, and the 2d animations just didn't have that.

  • hmm it's not so bad... ;P anyway... Blame! has great potetial which is wasted by now ;/

  • unghhh crappy. :(
