  • Looking for switches? Try Parts Express near Dayton Ohio. Man I would love to see this done for an M13. HATE those switches.

  • HOLY SHIT IT'S BIGFOOT!!!

  • Thanks mate! i saved 40$!

  • Hmm. I just got the exact same footswitches. They don't seem to fit.

  • @amberience Had to file the chasis holes down to fit them in!!! :-D

  • Great job! We re-switched our DL4 in an hour or so, and it works better than new! We rely on it so heavily for our music that it has earned the affectionate nickname Big Green Monster. Thanks so much for the tutorial!

  • Just fixed my DL4 using this tutorial! Thanks so much man! I thought I was done for but I ordered the footswitch from Bear Electronics and it took only an hour to fix! Incredible!

  • 4:40 Soldering braid is the best option for removing solder. It soaks up the solder so you don't have a continual problem with it hardening as soon as you remove the iron.

  • Ordered my switches today... I've owned six dl4's my latest is on the fritz. Was considering buying the boss version but always put it off because it's not true bypass, now I don't have to... Thanks doing this video. Can't wait to get my dl4's working properly again!

  • Hey,could you tell me where you can get the replacement footswitches?

  • @nintendoor1

mammothelectronics , they ship pretty quick like too

  • @juffage2008tour Thanx bro! u salved the problem it was the washers to the input/output jacks! Thanx!

  • Does anyone have any advice on getting the old switches out? Should I use a sort of desoldering wick or is there a way how to get to them with a soldering iron???

  • ok... so i have done everything Red to A and Blue to D... everything works except my loop switch (1st switch on left)... which is the only thing that i use the pedal for! Please help!

  • @TheRhythmKillsus in case you didn't notice, this video is called a D.I.Y. footswitch replacement tutorial

  • @TheRhythmKillsus figure it out?

  • I'm soowing!

  • How come at 3:12 his circuit board just slides right out mine doesn't

  • @MrEvilQuaker probably because you haven't unscrewed something - check the washers on the input/output jacks.

  • i love u so much. please make touch on my love-to-make button push.

  • for USA: Small Bear Electronics (that's the correct one this time)

  • he's listening to lets groove by ew and f

  • You the man, man

  • Thanks man, this video was very helpful. I just finished mine. I thought I broke it at first. I'm a idiot and didn't plug a chord into the input when i tried to test it, I only had the power plugged in. lol I was pissed. But all is well and the pedal works great...... well as "great" as line 6 can.

  • Thank you!

  • where you get the maplins from? they wont ship to usa

  • @Subaro0o @Subaro0o FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE ASKING ME WHERE I GET MAPLINS FOOTSWITCHES: i live in the UK now. as i said in the video, any SPST momentary footswitch shold work as long as it fits in the case. if you can't figure this out and are still asking me how to do it, good luck!

  • @juffage2008tour OHH ok, didnt know.. however I went to my local electronics warehouse and they had some identical, with click or without click.. i got the silent ones.. im wiring it up tonight, ill let you know how it goes.. thanks bud.. BTW you know how to do the double preset mod?

  • @juffage2008tour Oops, just saw this. :-) If I find a switch that fits I'll post it on here for everyone else who wants to know. If thats ok with you..

  • @juffage2008tour

dear friend, I try to move the snobs of my mm4, to change the switches, but my volume controls are too stiff (the knobs), I can remove them without fear of using force. I have the dl-4 and the snobs are hard to pull oput too, is this normal in the line 6 stomp boxes.

  • And, once again, the switches don't come out as easily as he says they do, and if you overheat it, you are going to lift the goddamn circuit boar tracers.....trust me.

  • Can you use locking switches/IA type switches? Just got a DM4 and I already am annoyed with the unreliable factory switches. Thanks.

  • can i just pay you to do this for me?

  • @brandonberg of course! send me a message!

  • @juffage2008tour maplin wont ship to the US so i found another place that sells em online. as long as it is single pole single throw is it good?

  • @juffage2008tour How much would you charge? I already purchased the replacement switches you mentioned in the vid.

  • You're a stud.

  • I am soooooo glad to hear you talk about the half speed problem! I am definitely doing this. THANK YOU!

  • Oh hello, I didn't see you there.

  • nice man...you are the best..

  • Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make this for everyone.

Where can I order the foot-switches in the USA?

    All the best!

  • Thank you! Very appreciative. more info:

Switches should be are normally open. So that you "make" the circuit when you "push".

Take note of the metal nub in the hole where the switch goes on the chassis. I bought good switches BUT they have the slot for the nub such that the switches won't fit into the chassis. I simply sanded down the nubs on the chassis -makes for a slightly less reliable pedal over time due to slippage and turning but the pedal works and for les than a bench check fee.

  • @myxtoob yep. i sanded my nubs too. shouldn't slip as long as you tighten the nut down really good.

  • @juffage2008tour Ah!!! I thought of that but it seemed like a pain in the ass.. I guess its the only way to deal with it.. Glad you posted that.

  • I have a MM4 that won't save any presettings the preset light just blinks all the time. Will replacing the footswitches fix this problem.

    Thanks for the video.

  • @MrCouragouslion use your intuition.

  • 3:58

    BEAST ;D

  • Just replaced all the footswiches and the unit works! You are the man. Thanks dude.

  • Dude - I replaced all the footswitches and the unit works again. You are the man. Thanks!

  • Where can I buy the Maplin footswitches in the US?

  • @guitarcht maplin is a u.k. company, a bit like radio shack. any SPST momentary foot switch will work just make sure it can fit inside the pedal.

  • @juffage2008tour - thanks for responding. Am looking at Carling's SPSTs, which look similar witht the side terminals. They offer "normally open" and "normally closed" options; any one better?

  • @guitarcht hmmm not sure. should me 'momentary' SPST switches

  • i LOLed when you talked about the loops stopping or going into halftime for no reason. that shit was so annoying.

  • Great video! Are the Maplin switches the "soft" kind? Or the hard kind with lots of resistance as you push down, followed by a loud click? Thanks!

  • that was really great! i do a similar thing with a few more instruments through my line 6 dl4. check it out if you feel so inclined :)

  • Thanks man! One of the footswitches on my DL4 fell apart during a gig Thursday night and I just used your video to replace it. Really appreciate it.

  • hey. my dl4 broke recently and i have no idea how to tell if this is what is wrong with it. it was working just fine and then i turned the knob to switch the setting from like digital delay to swell for example and then the whole thing just died. i dont get any lights. nothing. do you think that this mod will fix my problem or do you think it is another problem?

  • Thanks for the video!

Are these footswitches the same kind as the M13? One stopped working properly..

  • @mastixas no idea but probally not as the footswitches look completely different.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I was gonna put my DM4 on Ebay as "spares or repair" due to a busted footswitch. Thanks to your brilliant and informative tutorial, it's all fixed and back on my pedalboard. You da Man!!!

  • Hey, I'm curious if this mod could fix the tap tempo problem I have on my DL4, its not accurate when i tap my tempo which is a HUGE problem... i need the tempo to be EXACTLY on when I use the dotted eighth note rhythmic delay

  • @restsandnotes17 most likely

  • I just got my new DL4 a few days ago. Im going to do this mod for sure. I want to get the dub pre set mod too, and new leds. Does anyone know about the volume/gain knob mod?

  • im not sure about the volume mod or double presets, but the led mod would be super easy to do. just pull them out and change then with led's of your choosing.

  • doing this mod could you still get back the factory presets and set the alternate bypass modes?

  • im not sure what you mean by this.

  • thx mate

  • Brilliant video, just what I needed. I need to replace the switches on my MM4. 5 stars!

  • dude thanks, you have some great videos yourself!

  • What is that stellar music?
