To be honest, I saw this game yesterday and thought it looked pretty fun. Decided on-the-spot to buy it. Brought a buddy over today and we played it in co-op. Despite its simplicity, it's actually really fun. Yea, I guess it's repetitive, but I'm used to playing 100+ hour RPGs which require days of grinding, so replaying several levels to catch the Pokemon we wanted was more-than-enjoyable.
OK let me explain this to everyone because for whatever reason no one seems to get this, even the people saying that thisgame is the best thing ever. This is and always will be a pick up and play game, it isn't meant to be something that you play for hours on end like other games. You sit down play for a few minuets and go do something else that is how you get the best enjoyment factor out of this game. If I had to give it a score I'd say a 7.0, it's a great time waister but not a hardcore game.
How does this get a six? I mean, after you literally only said bad things about it. IGN, your rating system is flawed, or if it isn't that, your reviewers are too afraid to give low ratings, even when completely justified. I'm currently reviewing this game on the 3DS and holy crap it is one of the most boring experiences I've EVER had. It's getting less than a 3/10, some plus for its charm, but charm can only get you so far.

@PokeTrainerDragonBoy I don't make video reviews, I write for a magazine and the website that goes with it. Got lots of comments, and out of all those only one complained. As you said though, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but one can't deny that the game is pretty flawed. That doesn't mean one can't enjoy it, but I think we can both agree that it wasn't the game for me :P I do enjoy Pokemon games in general though.
I personally liked the game but agree that it got repetitive at points. It's sequel, Pokemon Rumble Blast, is so much better. It includes a story line, new battle modes, and all 5 gens instead of just 1 and 4. Also it has more then just 6 levels. It has 11 or 12 if i remember correctly. Such a huge improvement from an otherwise enjoyable game
they need to get back to the turn based strategy elements of pokemon and stop messing around with this bullshit. Wii + Pokemon should be awesome. Instead it sucks so far.
eh, idk about all of that, you can learn a lot more new moves from a machine in the main lobby and you CAN evolve by using passwords or a technique where you have to dump 5 of the same pokemon to get it's evolved form, and the levels change as you rank up, it can be foggy, rainy, sunny etc. and theres a wide variety of different pokemon you can use from the "national pokedex", i HATE all the other games on the pokemon series but this is actually a game i'd want to get :) (it's not that bad IGN!)

@Drewid96 luckily now, they can evolve and you can learn new attacks and their passwords on sites for rare pokemon and a wide variety of different attacks and techniques :)
@27Taichi27 i think the sequel fixed a lot of the originals problems. i took a look at it and it seems really fun and with way more content and environments- but well see what ign says in october when it hits NA.
@PloPail nah, They were actually nice to the game. It's just button mashing game that's the same thing for like 6 hours and it's boring and tedious. I say if you have kids, they'll like it.
if only you could evolve and use your trainer to interact with other random players to rumble head to head, then that would be a game worth looking at to me

@TheRealsamsam5 Because the people who design Sonic do a poor job technically. I love Sonic but the last game I've played (Shadow the Hedgehog) was almost unplayable. It was buggy as hell and the guns, for something that this game revolves around, are pretty much useless. Mario, while I don't care much for him anymore either, their designers actually take the time to design a game properly.
this game is really nice,so i have to say that the rating system of wiiware games should NOT be the same as actual full games. this is only meant a to pass time game that you play every now and again. repeating it 6 times over is completely ok if you dont play it all in the same day.
I wont be able to play this game anytime soon, but I am working on a 2D pokemon game similar to this for PC and wii(other consoles to via homebrew). Would anyone here be interested in trying it out the demo when I release it? It will have better pokemon, moves, and more importantly, better music.
Eeasy? EASY?!?! Give me a break! You must have judged the game by its cover and stopped playing it BEFORE you even got to the final boss on Advanced mode! That took me, like, 2 hours to beat! And I even had an Empoleon with Protect, a Garchomp with Earthquake, and a MEW with Silver Wind! (And believe me, that's kick*** once you raise its stats.) And Pokemongod777 is right; EX is near impossible unless you train a lot and/or enter codes. This guy didn't like anything but multiplayer....:(
They should have made it with normal pokémon that look like they do in the games and the shows. They also should have made them able to level up and evolve. They should have made it alot like the handheld games but when you go into a battle have a kind of fire emblem thing where the fighting people go to a seperate thing for the battle. I wish I worked on pokémon games, I could make them actually fun again. :(
@Stiefelflash They are okay, if I were playing one of the more recent pokemon games for the first time and its the first game then it would be good but they are basically doing to same thing over and over again in each new game but adding on one shtick and new pokemon (that are basically the same now btw, they are running out of ideas) and tricking people continue to reinvest in this dying franchise. Pokemon could be great again, but they need to put some actually work into them.
I played the demo like 4 or 5 times through, and it was really fun. it's basically Pokemon Mystery Dungeon but in full 3D. The only reason I would buy the full game is so I could save my data, otherwise the full game doesn't look much worth it.

it is kinda fun I guess. me and my brother has been playing this for hours. I like it, there are strategies, but you rather hit the enemies. what I don't like it is that the game is sort-of anti-friendship. I mean if you have a pokemon and you spent so much time with it to make it the best, 10 mins in the game an even stronger pokemon in evey aspect appears and your faved just gets weaker and weaker as the game progress, so are you just gonna keep it or throw it away for some cash.
the review forgot to mention something. this game is wicked fun high. only 2 buttons to push. thats fucking incredible. repetition will go right over your head. the truth is the game is stellar baked. however this is pretty much a one time thing, since the game is so short lived.

@TheCap319 i have owned both world at war, and modern warfare 2, and played black ops. none were very fun to me because all i ever did was run and shoot. COD does the best job of mixing it up, but your limited to what can happen in reality. Video games aren't supposed to be realistic. if i wanted to shoot a bunch of people with an M16, i would join the army. but i can't morph into Mario and beat the shit out of Link, or go on a quest to save the land of Hyrule from Gannon.

Played the demo. Played a linear mission, got stale after the first few minutes. Battle Royale is really fun, though.
For $15, this seems like an okay game.

this game is really nice,so i have to say that the rating system of wiiware games should NOT be the same as actual full games. this is only meant a to pass time game that you play every now and again. repeating it 6 times over is completely ok if you dont play it all in the same day.

I wont be able to play this game anytime soon, but I am working on a 2D pokemon game similar to this for PC and wii(other consoles to via homebrew). Would anyone here be interested in trying it out the demo when I release it? It will have better pokemon, moves, and more importantly, better music.

I liked Pokemon Rumble, but it should have been a more traditional style beatemup. Like River City Ransom, or Castle Crashers.
The dungeon- crawler bit of it is already one-upped by Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Eeasy? EASY?!?! Give me a break! You must have judged the game by its cover and stopped playing it BEFORE you even got to the final boss on Advanced mode! That took me, like, 2 hours to beat! And I even had an Empoleon with Protect, a Garchomp with Earthquake, and a MEW with Silver Wind! (And believe me, that's kick*** once you raise its stats.) And Pokemongod777 is right; EX is near impossible unless you train a lot and/or enter codes. This guy didn't like anything but multiplayer....:(

They should have made it with normal pokémon that look like they do in the games and the shows. They also should have made them able to level up and evolve. They should have made it alot like the handheld games but when you go into a battle have a kind of fire emblem thing where the fighting people go to a seperate thing for the battle. I wish I worked on pokémon games, I could make them actually fun again. :(

@Stiefelflash They are okay, if I were playing one of the more recent pokemon games for the first time and its the first game then it would be good but they are basically doing to same thing over and over again in each new game but adding on one shtick and new pokemon (that are basically the same now btw, they are running out of ideas) and tricking people continue to reinvest in this dying franchise. Pokemon could be great again, but they need to put some actually work into them.

I played the demo like 4 or 5 times through, and it was really fun. it's basically Pokemon Mystery Dungeon but in full 3D. The only reason I would buy the full game is so I could save my data, otherwise the full game doesn't look much worth it.

it is kinda fun I guess. me and my brother has been playing this for hours. I like it, there are strategies, but you rather hit the enemies. what I don't like it is that the game is sort-of anti-friendship. I mean if you have a pokemon and you spent so much time with it to make it the best, 10 mins in the game an even stronger pokemon in evey aspect appears and your faved just gets weaker and weaker as the game progress, so are you just gonna keep it or throw it away for some cash.

the review forgot to mention something. this game is wicked fun high. only 2 buttons to push. thats fucking incredible. repetition will go right over your head. the truth is the game is stellar baked. however this is pretty much a one time thing, since the game is so short lived.

I'm sure some one with an IQ of 75 would enjoy mindless shooting for hours, and then claim that Nintendo doesn't make good games. I'm not saying games like Black Ops and Reach are bad. @TheCap319 i have owned both world at war, and modern warfare 2, and played black ops. none were very fun to me because all i ever did was run and shoot. COD does the best job of mixing it up, but your limited to what can happen in reality. Video games aren't supposed to be realistic. if i wanted to shoot a bunch of people with an M16, i would join the army. but i can't morph into Mario and beat the shit out of Link, or go on a quest to save the land of Hyrule from Gannon.
