  • Wow......thanks so much for posting this treasured live Bread. James' passing really affected me, I'd forgotten just how incredibly gifted he was. "Coming Apart" is one of my favorite songs of his ever so I can't tell you how much I appreciate you posting it! And a live version of "Don't Tell Me No"? Unreal! Thanks!

  • Adding to my last comment...we fans can only wish that we heard more of James while he was with us. Thanks for the post!!

  • This is an amazing recording. The vocals by James Griffin once again prove his singing abilities were superior to David Gates. Having seen Bread several times in concert I witnessed Griffin "carrying" the show. Although Gates was featured (probably through his own doing) and wrote the majority of Bread's hits, we fans c

  • Thanks for uploading yet another rare and precious gem. Ohhh...I could just listen to James singing for hours and hours. I still feel very lucky and privileged to have seen bread twice, and also to have met James - he was a very special, lovely, friendly and 'real' sort of guy. Down to earth and always had time for fans. Mike was like that, as well. Thanks again for this. It's brilliant.

  • Coming Apart is a really beautiful song, blueboro is right is should have been a single. Again, the pictures are great! The 1st one; real sexy pose James, with a hint of attitude? Also the ones at 3:40 and 5:13. He looks sexy, sensitive, and soulful all at the same time-could you ask for more:)Also, what is David Gates saying is a "joke between us and the boys"? I cant tell what he said right before that.

  • James Griffin was so cute! Does anyone know what color of eyes he had, I can never tell?

  • @azahora22

They were green, just like his mom's.

  • Coming Apart is one of my favorite Bread songs. Great vocals by Jimmy and it should be have been a single.

  • "The voice is lower pitched than what Gates usually does."

Griffin could sing both high and lower than Gates. Griffin had an incredible vocal range (as has been acknowledged by Gates).

  • This sounds like Griffin. LiteOfYourMind is this Griffin as well? The voice is lower pitched than what Gates usually does.

  • Yes, it's Griffin. Gates would not be capable of sounding like that. The voices are much different, but they had beautiful harmonies together and their voices complimented each other.

  • Thanks again for replying Lite. Your Griffin is magnificent and so lovely to listen to. Thanks again.

  • You're very welcome. Thanks for the great comments on all the videos, Daisy.

  • The ability for the average person to record live events back then was so limited. This is a wonderful piece of recording! Thank you so much for sharing!

  • You're welcome. What you say is true. This is a decent recording, considering the era and equipment available to the average person back then.

  • Thank you for posting. What a gift!

    RIP, JAG and MB.

  • Being a D.C. native and a lifelong Breadhead, had I been a little older in '72 I would definitely have attended that show. By the way, does anyone happen to know which venue in D.C. they played that night? Just wonderin'.

    PS - Thanx for sharing!

  • Presto35, it was DAR Constitutional Hall.

  • I wish I had seen them live in the early seventies! Thanks for live recordings Great.

  • tx for sharing.... i've got this bootleg too...

  • The audio on these audience recordings is not the greatest, but live recordings of this group are so rare that it's a miracle to have any.
