  • Again! Again!

  • hey guys with hair and no tattoos cool.....great song.

  • I just searched for this song for hours... All I could remember was that there were two guys and two guitars. My brother sent me this song a few years ago. I finally found it.

  • this video cost $4.17 to make with 1.8 million views. That's what you call talent my friends.

  • @mcclainer8 That much?! lol!

  • This is Art =3

  • Dear Scott and Seth Avett, You have quite the tendency of jerking tears from my manly eyes.

  • for fuck sake iv been trying now for 10 minutes to find those two two fuckin brothers who killed their parents, if only i knee their names aye !?

nice tune by the way :)

  • i was at their concert on new years. they were amazing

  • My brother & I lost our father. This song is...yeah.

  • I have listened to these guys for such a long time, but never realised that this song (along with the album and 3 others) were recorded in my home town of Winston-Salem, NC. You have to love this music

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Don't go revengin in my name

  • The best band I've ever seen live!!!! So much energy and passion!! I love it!!

  • I remember when I was one of the few who knew of this band seeing them in their earliest days when they played little side jobs. Now who look where they have gone. I am both sad and glad I am not one of the few who know of their talent and skill that should touch millions. GL luck Avett Borther and avoid the cities ;)

  • @VekCal

    My name is Avett Borther

  • i want my bf to look like them. :/

  • /watch?v=PLrVdJmlKlg

  • he's a very good voice

  • Someone in a mumford & Sons song revered to the Avett Brothers and this is their first song i've heared. I felt instantly in love.

  • 69 People are deaf

  • Sorry,,me again,,since i lost my brother in the gulf,,, this songs comforts me,,,sad,,, but,,,sorry in so different ways,,never told him i loved him....

  • @mkloki66 Do not beat yourself up because of never telling him that. I'm 100% sure he knew that anyway, you don't have to tell someone that you love him/her, if they feel the same they can sense it. My brother & I rarely tell eachother that he loves me or vice versa, but we both know & can feel it. Love is so much more that three little words. The memory if him keep on living inside of you & remember your happy moments & be glad that you had a brother & that you loved eachother!

  • my favorite song ever

  • Of the billions songs available on yt,,,my cursor always seeks its way 2 this amazing song,,,thanks cursor,,,,

  • Came for the music. Stayed for the Beards.

  • LOL @ the second verse...'I wonder which brother is better.' Beautiful song, but I did chuckle when he said that, considering the name of the band.

  • @Gunnerss09 LOL i neeever noticed that.

  • "Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that us share our name." i.e. Family and the love there in are most important things in the world. Can I get a AMEN??

    Goodbye Ana

    You were loved

  • I caught wind of the Avett Brothers when they played on aint no grave can hold my body down with Johnny Cash. And ive liked them ever since. (GOOD SOUND)

  • You gotta have respect for the Avett Brothers. Its rare to find music like this anymore. This was the first song i heard from them. After it was done me and my buddy proceeded to jam to it for the next two hours.i could listen to them all day. They also have killer beards

  • As an only child, I found this video is depressing.

  • @tadoubleg LOL, I just said the same thing to my best friend

  • Saw them last week and now he says to tell his daughter and son he loves them instead of mother and sister.

  • I like this song because of the "love that let us share our name" lyric. Ain't too bad

  • I like these guys. They bring something to their music which is rarely seen or heard these days.

  • @MsCrazymadness

    Yeah.... it's called SKILL!

  • @sixaxle no i think its heart, honesty and true tender emotion. But yes, they have skill.

  • Smith brothers anyone?

  • Their beards remind me of cough drops.

  • Gorgeous-- what kind of camera/lens did you use?

  • sounds kinda like hes saying "a faggot murdered in the city"

  • I got into the Avett Brothers a few years back and kinda forgot about them when I joined the military, but upon my return from afghanistan there music found me, and it brings such a soothing calm to my days.

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!

  • @johnny991965 Marijuana isn't considered a drug, right? :D

  • yeah these guys were epic at green man. i have a lot of respect for people like this who can play such awesome music and manage not to be forced to adapt to the current music scene, like many good artists are doing. <3

  • Saw them at Greenman too and am a convert!

  • beautiful and even better live. Saw them at Greenman 2011 and they were great. I can party to other music , this track is purely to chill to. Love it. As for Utopia being boring because there's no crime ,war, and drugs ??? Well, I'm not presently involved in eiher of these three and am anything but bored/boring!

  • @cazidyou but youre a single person and not a society. by definition i dont think a utopia could be boring, but by definition i also dont think a utopia is possible

  • tears...

  • No sheite, good music and vodka are wonderfully intertwined

  • For God's sake that'w what i was looking for all this time!

  • 68 people who watched this video have their heads in their butts.

  • Well crafted simple and without commercial hooks. Sure these cats are from this planet?

  • It is said that their lyrics are written... by their beards.

The Avett Brothers are the most interesting men in the world.

  • @Ke3p1tCo0l They don't write lyrics often, but when they do, they prefer dos beards

  • I started with I and Love and You and am working my way backwards. Haven't been let down yet.

  • Just heard "The Avett Brothers" at Tønder Festival last night. Most amazing and intense concert I've ever seen. They're fabulous!

  • I think Avett brothers should be blasted out across all the warring countries! I can just imagine them now dropping their guns, and staring at their once enemy wondering..........why are we doing this!

  • John Lennon haters need to shut the fuck up. That man was a legend and he had bad moments but everyone does.

  • my big bro sent this to me and i thought the band was second gleam cuz that is what the picture said i am happy to find that it is the avett brothers since i love the song november blue

  • i want this song played at my funeral

  • This song kind of makes my heart explode.

  • I hate when you're reading someone's comment, and it's going along fine, and you're agreeing with them, and then at the end you realize it was all just to plug some goddam song they recorded and posted on their channel. If you agree, check out the folk songs me and my sister recorded and posted on our channel!

  • please listen to my folk band!!!!! /watch?v=8HuGqgFkMZ4

  • LOVE AT FIRST LISTEN! Where was I that I hadn´t known them! Loving them already!

Norway God Know's you Deserve it.. life is cruel as we all know and an eye for an eye is the least the fallen anywhere in the world Deserve..

  • youtube we thank you....

  • My brother died a year ago. When I herd the line "always remember there was nothing worth sharing, like the love that let us share our name" I fucking lost it and bawled my eyes out. Thats what a great song should do. Make you feel something.

  • Fuck vevo. This is the only version I listen to on youtube.

  • I would not like to meet the people that disliked this.

  • can not wait to see them at greenman

  • art

  • My mother and my dance for my wedding this Friday.

  • Yo! Real talk for a minute. I got a song on my album, and it's a little country, a little bluegrass-y. It's good, you know. Check it out, please? But full disclosure: nothing is as good as Avett Brothers, so lower your goddam expectations first.

  • i think the one with the beard is sexy......

  • @qtrnevermore84 got that right

  • Stop worrying about johnnys comment and just listen to the song..

  • Peace and Love and Joy to all!!!!!!!!!

  • thank the heavens above for folk music, it comes in many guises, these brothers are amazing, AMERICA you ought to be proud of the sons of folk, a gift a talent call it as you see it, Ireland will adopt you as our sons for we are great folkist's, let's hope their are less murders in our cities and the need for revenge is absent once more, Avett brothers keep it up and I hope the world wakes up and finds your tunes as I and many have, thanks for the posting of this video.. your a star too

  • 1:18 i got in alot of trouble... 1:22 they seem to let the other go... (Seth Avett Shaking his head no)

  • good song

  • check out hunter johnson "the white roads of heaven"

  • Does it get much truer than this? Iv'e lost friends in the city, and I wish I had knew of such beautiful music then,,,,,,we may have never been lost.

  • FYI: the share link has a glitch in it.

  • God.... these guys are so good.

  • Does anyone know what kind of thumb and finger picks they're using?

  • Im meeting these guys in a few days at work....searched them and found this....what a great song.

  • NICE! DUDES IN TANK TOPS!

  • I want that beard ¤_¤

  • These guys are fantastic...like galipooh says, "cannot be unheard"

  • i was almost murdered in the city, barely escaped with my life. gotta say, my reaction is not as big as his might, and i have to emphasize might, be. i want those fuckers tried for attempted murder and given a full sentence. however i also dedicate myself to changing those conditions from which my attackers came.

  • Wouldn't it be great to live in some utopia where everyone listened to music like this! Probably crime-free, drug free, war-free, intellectual and caring. Ah well, we can but dream...

  • @johnny991965 As John Lennon once said..."Imagine".

  • @crwlddotorg Drug free hahhahahah, than you just kill a lot off the good music.

  • @crwlddotorg

As John Lennon once said, I'm moving to New York because I don't want to give the poor people of England my money through taxes.

John Lennon was a massive asshole.

  • @Chris1218218 John lennon was so sarcastic, the taxes in England in that time were so unfair with the artists until goverment kept the 98% of money maden by the artists. And you know the taxes in England goes a part for the royalty.

So you're the asshole, use your brain for a second.

  • @Chris1218218 Speaking from Liverpool, i would just like to tell you you're an idiot :) This song is beautiful, why you're writing such nonsense below it i'll never know.

  • @grainofsand79

It's the truth. Look it up. Liverpool is wonderful. Lennon didn't want to give away his "hard earned" money to keep up its appearance.

  • @Chris1218218 why should anyone keep up a city's appearance with their success? He kept, the accent and the values and here in liverpool we are proud of him. Instead of 'looking it up' i see it. And god knows how many billions in tourism he's brought here. Now listen to this beautiful song and stop posting your rubbish underneath it!

  • @crwlddotorg sounds great but when would we dance?...oh I guess Kick drum heart might work...just sayin

  • @crwlddotorg You should google an interview Lennon did right before he was killed were he said he regretted writing imagine because it was so naive

  • @crwlddotorg sorry dont mean to be a downer just wish ppl would enjoy what is this song makes me think this is as good as it gets

  • @johnny991965 as well as religion-free.

  • @johnny991965

Are you trying to say that everyone who listens to the Avett brothers are drug free, crime free, intellectual and caring. And everyone else is violent, dumb, and careless?

  • @ohiouniversitystate7 I did say 'in some utopia' in my original post. Musical listening habits DO make a difference. People who listen to classical music are more than half as likely to commit violent crime than people who listen to rap. That argument is oversimplistic, but it makes a point....

  • @johnny991965 yep

  • @johnny991965 Well...i like the thought, but, without crime there can't be murder(city or otherwise). I found the avett brothers because of this song, so i will continue to cheer for anger, pain and love... as long as it keeps inspiring music like this.

  • @johnny991965 drug free? this is the best music when you're stoned.

  • @johnny991965 fuck you drugs have done good for society and if you disagree then take all of your albums, cds, and tapes and burn them. You know why? because those artists that have enhanced your life over the years were REAAAAALLLLLL fucking high on drugs. "We all live in a yellow submarine!" are you fucking kidding me? they were STONED!

  • @MeowBurgers Yeah, and the same people who'd happily cut each of your fingers of with pliers for the pin number to your credit card are probably high on the same stuff :-)

  • a@johnny991965 there are good drugs and there are bad drugs. Someone who is willing to cut off your fingers looking for a fix surely are doing very bad drugs (Heroine, Crack. Meth) But someone who is smoking pot or eating mushrooms would never do something that insane. I think its wrong to use the umbrella term "Drugs" to label all of them, and it is certainly wrong to arrest people who choose to use them in the safety of their own home harming no one.

  • @johnny991965 It's not the kind of music people listen to that makes them what they are, but they way the listen to it. Insinuating that the world would be a better place if everybody listened to Avett Brothers, is almost as clever as claiming that if everybody just wore blue velvet and drank semi-skimmed milk, climate changes would be a thing of the past... Come on, get out of your cocoon...

  • @johnny991965

    what's wrong with drugs?!

clearly you haven't tried the good ones!

  • @johnny991965 wtf drug-free? why does it have to be drug.-free? why can't it be free of just the things people can't chose? just because you can't handle drugs (moderation is the key) doesn't mean they need to be illegal. i agree on the rest, though.

  • @AnonMadara I don't think they mean the drug laws would be more effective if everyone loved music like this, I think they mean that there would be no need for such a law, because no one would feel the dependence of hard drugs. I dont know if you've ever been addicted to say, meth, but it sucks. Id love to free the world from such a thing.

Anyway, we're both over-analyzing a fans comment about how good this song is. this song is awesome. end of story.

  • @outfitmadeofawesome well, it's not the place to talk about what i have been addicted to (cause its none of your business anyway). i was just saying: claiming a world would be better if it were generally "drug-free" is just dumb. also, i have limited sympathy for people who use hard drugs. by now you should have understood that you get ADDICTED AND FUCKED UP from stuff like meth, coke, heroin etc. but for fucks sake it is my own fuckin choice. don't fuck with my rights to consume.

  • @johnny991965 drug free? right lol

  • @johnny991965 That would be boring as all hell... we would have no standards for good or bad and there would be no variety. Why would you need the thinkers and problem solvers if you didn't have the dumb people and problems.

  • @johnny991965 does drug free mean no paracetamol and caffeine?

  • @johnny991965 Drug free? You think these guys dont smoke weed? They did perform at Bonaroo and various "hippie" festivals.

  • @johnny991965 I would have to disagree with the drug free aspect of that remark...just saying, have you ever been to boone, nc?

  • @johnny991965 as much as I do love this music; a world where everyone listened to this music, never committed crime, did drugs, waged war and were intelligent and caring would be great for about 5 minutes before getting incredibly boring.

  • @johnny991965 not drug free....

  • @johnny991965 Drug free? I would have to disagree with that one...

  • @kagemusha776 dude, i'm pretty sure they're clean

  • @johnny991965 I don't know, It does sound pretty nice. But living in a place like that would get extremely boring really fast. If everything is perfect, where is the excitement anymore?

  • @johnny991965 ...imagine a place where people could listen to whatever music they wanted and just enjoy it.

  • Go search MIPSO TRIO right now(actually, wait until this amazing song is over) and then listen to them. They are an uprising band similar to Avetts.. Like this up to spread the word to an Avett-inspired band! Go Avetts and GOOOO MIPSOOO!

  • i just died listening him sing the words.

  • This is beautiful.

  • Me and my brother played this at my fathers funeral. It was just perfect.

  • what kind of horrible person would dislike this?

  • I love this song but it sounds like he says "faggot murdered in the city" lol. (I'm not homophobic btw)

  • @galipooh Thanks. You now ruined one of the greatest songs ever made for me..

  • @galipooh cannot be unheard.

  • Scott = Damn hot.

  • Beards and music to make Thor proud.

  • Yeah. I'm so going to force my boyfriend to grow a freaking beard. :D

  • my dad would have loved this song. it make me think of him. rip bud.

  • A haunting song! It could loop all day long and I would not get tired of hearing it

  • A friend of mine died today (4/20/2011) of cancer....

  • @SuperGuitarFanatic Sorry about your loss.

  • This reminds me of that awkward but great season of life just after I'd graduated from college.

  • >61 people were murdered in the city

  • EPIC BEARD TIME!

  • They should call themselves The Beard Brothers!

  • This is beautiful. What album is this from? I have "I and love and you" but am interested in the earlier stuff. Do you all have any suggestions where to start? Or songs?

  • @TheFletch827

This track is from The Second Gleam, as written on the description.

On my own personal taste, I believe their earlier stuff is better. You have a list of all their albums at wikipedia and you can do some research on them, but you can start with Mignonette or Four Thieves Gone...or from the beginning.

  • @crwlddotorg Sorry I didn't read the description (should have). Well I appreciate it. I just didn't know where to start.

  • @crwlddotorg Thank you for that, it helped me aswell :) x

  • @crwlddotorg Or you could have went to college at East Carolina and have seen them for free at Peasants. They have gotten a lot better since those days.

  • @crwlddotorg I started with Mignonette, and moved my way up. I am addicted.

  • @TheFletch827 Glad to hear that ^^

  • @TheFletch827 The Gleam records (there are two of them) and emotionalism are my two favorites. Have fun becoming obsessed!

  • @MattWoo1981 I am most definitely becoming obsessed! Thanks.

  • Never fails to make me cry.

  • God I wish me and my brothers could be as close as these two

  • This is The only song that makes me cry. It makes me think of my three bros and how much fun we had growing up and reminds us all to focus on what's important in life.

  • 1:57 to 2:04 he wants to cry ):

  • a beautiful son

  • I love you all so much but your tickets are always sold out : ) . Your songs are so real am from a lil ol town Called King North Carolina. I have moved to Wilmington,NC and here you will be here playing. I only hope one day to meet you all and tell you how special your music is to me!
