dude you play really well, but at 5:35 in the cool part, when you stop playing, if you hear well there is a guitar in there that does a different thing from the keyboards, hear it its really cool, and try it too, keep that good work!
you should work on your technique. All the rest ist just wow! and I am seriously jealous for your ability to learn that song by ear. I should train my ears a little more...
Both your instrument and your playing are absolutely amazing. You're an awesome guitar player man, and you look very young too. Fuck knows how much your talent's going to go through the roof a few years ahead.
99tollap!?!? Man, I recognize that user name. Did you used to be on the Petrucci forums when I was on there? Shiiit, I just found this video randomly, lol!
Now, the real question is...do you remember me? =P.
And fuck yeah, Petrucci is still God. But Akerfeldt is Jesus. I, like you, was completely nuts for DT, but lost interest in them for a while. I'm getting back into them quite a lot now though, and they're still one of my favourite bands, but I'd say Opeth is my favourite band now, hands down. And Porcupine Tree and Pain of Salvation are waaaay up there too. I listen to both those bands a lot, but I listened to PT constantly in the summer.
Right now I can't stop listening to PTE1 and Remedy Lane by PoS. And of course Opeth. All of it. But that's just the regular course of my life. I heard though, that PoS has a new DVD out, but with not a single song from either of the albums I mentioned. Which is bullshit, cuz those are the fuckin' best ones!!
I'd have to say its pretty much tied between Opeth, Porucpine Tree and POS at the moment for my favourite band. I'm also addicted to Guthrie Govan.
I think they do have a couple of songs from Remedy Lane on the DVD. Not sure about PTE1 though. Its mainly Scarsick I think, which is my least favourite album by them...
Hmm, I dunno, really, I guess I just bored/sick of the site. Although I still love Petrucci and the other associated music that is discussed there, and there were a few members such as yourself who were really cool, the vast majority of posters on that site were fuckin' dicks, lol. They just pissed me off constantly. You couldn't post a thread without it resulting in a flame war, I found. I tried goin' back a couple times, but couldn't really get into it. Do you post often, still?
And yeah, all 3 of those bands are fucking Godly. They probably get the most play time of any bands on my iTunes/Zune right now. I also am in love with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Bloodbath's new album, I am also addicted to (Akerfeldt project) and Necrophagist gets a lot of play, as usual. I listened to Loomis' new album recently by the way...if you haven't, don't waste your time, lol. It's like all the rejected Nevermore fills glued together.
Don't listen to this waste of genetic material. Sure, there's some raw parts - you're already on your way to nailing the distorted solos, but the clean parts need some work. Overall, pretty decent.
dude nice cover only 1 thing: you got it wrong about 2 times after 6:15 ... but hay .. I'm trying to learn this one now and it's hard :) PS: nice guitar (Ibanez rocks!) & ql Dream Theater poster (at the upper-right part of the video :) Systematic Chaos (special edition) right? (: )
I have actually got a partial tab (about half done). Unfortunately, my guitar broke recently and I just haven't got round to finishing it off. If there's any bit in particular you want I can tab it for you though.
You should mix the audio better (mix the actual mp3 into another track and mux it back together) -- I really want tabs for this, cause the ones on UG suck.
Very good job, I can learn 90% of songs by ear but I gave up after a week of trying this one.
well Future if you WERE into all that music. which i CAN imagine cause there isn't THAT many different styles to where you cant count them.... you would be able to hear a lot of different influence in the album and you would grow to like it fast. but whatever you say... LOL
dude.....awesome guitar playing....you totally rock....you are off on the riff around the 1:00 mark.....still, you can play way better than I ever could....check out "Opeth - The Rehearsal Tapes Part IV/VI (Watershed Extra)".....around the 8:00 mark....the "fun" riff!!
Yeah, I realised that when I watched the DVD. Its much harder to make out though on the CD, with distorted guitars and the rest of the band playing. The chords I play still fit so Im happy with that. Thanks for the kind words.
a tip, add the song to the clip afterwards to make us others able to hear the original as well. (though if you do, keep it at a low volume so that you don't disappear in the sound).
Yeah, that bit does have some extra chords but I decided to play an alternate part. I have those chords worked out though. The part I play on this video is not any particular guitar part, its just a mix of all the guitar parts and a bit of keyboards (to make it more fun/intereseting). I just got my guitar back from being serviced, so I can work on the tab again. Shouldn't be long...
Dude! I would love to like jam and play with you, you seem like a pure musician (not the try to be famous shit) also finnaly someone putting up one of these videos and its not pointless, you have a great ear if you tabbed it yourself, a ear thats hard to find due to all the music whannabe idiots.. I love that song and i tought you did a great job! Keep it up dude!
I am currently in the process of tabbing it, but it will be in powertab format as I don't have guitarpro. Ill send it to you when I finally get it done...
that was probobly the easiest part to figure actually. Its one of the only parts without strange chords to figure out, its just straight forward notes.
I didnt unfortunately. I live in england, and would probably have made the trip over but im stuck in greece for 6 weeks. i did get to see (and meet them :)) twice in the uk though.
Im living in the UK at the moment, but I move to Eugene, Oregon in September. Id love to be in a band- definetly something id like to do when i get over there.

Dude how in the hell did u figure this out so early haha, Please tab this!, Amaazing job, this song is Brilliant. is this standard tuned? Cause I heard this album went back to standard, but it kinda dosent sound like it, im not sure lol.
Lol, I just spent an hour or so for a few days working it out at 50% speed. Some bits were easy to work out, but others were a real bitch. Ill try and get a tab out, but im incredibly busy at the moment. And the song is standard tuning- as far as I know.
Thanks for watching- some great playing in your videos!
