u need university and u need to download the sims 2 seethem it lets u have them diagonally and it take away the blurs on the sims in the shower and stuff and it also lets u place objects not in a little square (u can have them on the grid lines)

the allow 45 degree angle of rotation cheat has been used to turn them all on a 45 degree angle aswell as the couch, by the looks of it.

ithink the cheat is;

but i haven't played in a while so i may have forgotten, but search around on cheat sites and you'll find the right wording for the cheat.
