  • A average handicapper from the UK wins one of our biggest cups races... Although, the ANZ brigade didn't exactly ooze world class.

  • those idiot traniers or owners who decided to destroy this horse by going after a melbourne cup are bloody butchers and should be ashamed of them selves ruined a great sprinter

  • @wilsonbritza07 exactly right. they are dickheads

  • This ruined The Hustler. I am not knocking his connections, but there were other rich prizes for the taking, and they should have gone after those.

  • Nom Du Jeu the kiwi !!!

  • watch out for master oreilly this year

  • trifecta is $63,367.00 and 1st 4 is $735,584.80.

  • anyone know what the trifecta paid..

  • My cousin was in the Caulfield Cup 2008

  • Oh yeh which horse?

  • kerrin mcevoy s the best .. even when frankie dettori gets the best horse mcevoy pulls something better to win with the second best wished i put more than $20

  • Although the Channel 9 coverage is ok, put quite simply TVN has superior comment and detail in their presentation and stands alone.

I have for some years now noticed that when commerical stations cover the Spring Carnival, the presentation has too much non related racing content, together with misleading prices from the betting ring that leads inexperienced punters astray. If they were to concentrate of facts rather than hype they would come across as being informed and certainly credible.

  • I agree wholeheartedly with your comment, even though I rarely watch TVN since I don't have foxtel. I dislike Channel 9 coverage, but I do enjoy Channel 7. Unfortunately they focus on lots of fluff like fashion to increase ratings for everyday public. Much like having raceday entertainment on course for crowds who aren't really there for racing.

  • Damien Oliver picked Mad Rush for the Melbourne Cup some time ago and I think it will win the big one. There were some shocker runs in the Caulfield Cup excluding Weekend Hustler who is clearly better suited over a shorter trip.

  • gonna have exam there this friday.... GRRRRRRR

  • I still can't believe that Barbaricus managed to get 3rd place!

  • what a run from barbaricus came from the widest barrier worked and got to front and still kicked in the straight for close third!

  • Weekend Hussler's still a champion. And Rawiller's ride on him would have to go down as the best ride of the year on a beaten horse. Those International horses bob up at odds occasionally and I hope it does not happen again this year in the cup. Or I will just about cry!

  • mad rush for the cup. got on at 35/1 few weeks back. sit back and watch the pennies roll in

  • first four would have been nice. $735k!!!

  • An ordinary horse from the uk wins our biggest handicap race...disappointing to say the least. Some of australia's top horses were made to look like they were out of class here. Maybe we are not so good after all!

  • Aussie horses are bred for speed, not for stamina and it proved again.

  • geez didnt Weekend Hussler try his heart out

  • I think they all did... just not up to the task

  • wouldnt mind the trifecta - $71K !!
