You HAVE to play this game alone, at night, with the lights dimmed, at a decent volume and do NOT set the brightness too high. Play it in a cinematic way and try not to rationalise too much, rather get sucked in, it will be worth it. If you don't like survival horror you should not even play this, meaning: don't play this as an action game, you'll be better off getting RE5. Dead Space takes your nerves back to where they belong, playing survival horror, play hard mode from the start. EEEEEEEEK

To the people talking about which scary game is better. The word scary has many definitions. Scary can mean disturbing, shocking, creepy, etc. The difference between amnesia and dead space is the fact that Dead space has shock moments. Sure, when the monster jumps out at you then you crap your pants. Amnesia is along the lines of disturbing. Even after shutting down the game you feel a little paranoid. Both good games.

I love the Aliens films as well as The Thing and Event Horizon. Just imagine those as a game and you've got Dead Space.

But dead space is not scary at all. Monsters are so loud, you can hear them from miles, so instead of hiding, I go and hunt them down. (not to mention, they look funny) I don't say that it is a bad game, maybe a bit boring. I mean the story seems okay, but the maps are all the same. But not scary at all.
