I really like the place. It's encouraging, because I'd really like to spend some time in Japan, but some places look impossibly small. With shoulders about 3 feet wide, it just doesn't work. It's not about being a spoiled American: it's just that I literally wouldn't fit! lol
Am I doing this wrong? isn't ¥140,000 about $1825.00. I had some friends that lived in Tokyo for 5 years while he played baseball, one of the things the agent made sure to get in the contract was that the team paid for their apartment. It was 1200sf and about $10,000 a month
@lawnsausages $1825 is correct at present exchange rate. It's new but as you can see there is no furniture here and it is the first floor. It's quite difficult to say, of corse there are apartments like Roppongi Hills for celebs who can afford to pay over 10,000 a month. So why not?
I'm in America and my apt. is just about this size. I think the kitchen in this video is wider than mine. The bathroom in this vid. is definitely bigger than mine. And we don't have a patio, balcony, or any outside area for our own. Maybe Americans *aren't* spoiled, after all. (Even people I know who have homes live in small homes. Not every home is a "mansion" here.)
@LisaBaby67 I live in USA too my apartment is only 525sq ft (48.7sq m) and costs about 465 usd a month (37,062.60 yen). I do have a balcony but its really small, just big enough to step out onto. I purposefully live in small spaces, I believe you should spent more time outside than inside, thus eliminating the need for larger space =) I am a rarity though. My mom owns a 2500sq ft house and complains its too small. She doesn't even use half the rooms in her house!
@faylinameir I'm not sure I'd know what to do with all that space, either. lol (The 2500 sq. ft. house) I would like a *little* more space. It gets crowded with a family & pets - not enough storage. But to me a much bigger house just means a lot more cleaning. lol
I don't understand the "spoilt America" argument. America is much, much, MUCH larger than Japan or any other European country so naturally the homes would be bigger seeing as there is more space to build. I don't think that's being spoiled at all, just using the land given. If everyone lived in small apartments we would only be using half of the countries allotted space. It has nothing to do with being "spoiled", it's geography and demographics. @GimmeKitty@niponStep
@GimmeKitty Naah. 6 people is some kind of exaggeration. Perhaps 3 or MAYBE 4 Regular family), because there are only two rooms. And Oh! Please don't be racist.
@GimmeKitty Yes. You right, racist was a wrong word, sorry. I must say that everything you said about how Americans are spoilt when it comes to size of the apartment, can be easyly applied to the european people also, not only Americans consider so.
@sharky22mig I don't know if you've been to spain, but here most people live in small flats.Maybe bigger than in japan, but when i went to america, every house was enourmous.
@GimmeKitty Stuff like that depends on Location, this is bigger than my LA apartment where I live with one other person. People in the countryside and countries that are larger get more space...It has nothing to do with being spoiled. Americans are more critical about America than non-Americans, I find.
@TheGhx It depends. Sometimes you have to pay an amount of 1-2 month fee as a gratitude to the owner and some kind of guarantee fee (usually1month fee) (in case you get smth spoilt) but GF is returned if you keep the apartment clean when you'll leave. Anyway it's better then paying a one year cut like you should do in South Korea.
wow that place is huge o.O I live in america and my apartment is only 525sq ft (48.7sq m) plus my place only costs 465 a month usd (37,062.60 yen)

@sharky22mig That's cheaper than most places in the Bay Area. I thought the rents in Tokyo were sky high. Live and learn.

@sharky22mig I dig your new digs, but that scooter is a horrid polluter [noise and probably air]. What is the function of the patio plumbing fixture?

Wow, this is a mansion ...
Americans are very, very spoiled.
Tell us about rent per month, utilities per month, cost for food, internet, clothes, incidentals and any other stuff needed to live here comfortably.
This apartment was meant to house a family of SIX by the way ...

@sharky22mig I am not racist. American is not a "race". It's a nationality.
Americans are very spoiled for space, here. I AM American. I should know. What passes for a small apt. here would be a mansion to a Japanese family.

TheGhx 1 year ago
@TheGhx It's about 30 min by JR (subway). On the other hand it's quite far from the station. About 15 on foot or so.

@sharky22mig Thanks,by the way are you in japan for long term? if yes what do you do there?
I have heard that to rent an apartment in Japan cost really a lot for moving in, like you need to pay 5-6 month rent, is it true?
