I would never even begin to listen to a preacher who wasn't rich, on TV, had movie-star friends and who preached an inclusive gospel that included all religions, and, heck, athiests, too. (I mean, as long as they were "good" atheits, you know?) And it helps if they have a jet plane or travel first class. Unfortunately, Jesus Christ falls WAY short, but good ol' Robert Schuller is WAY up there!

I think the "prosperity gospel" is misguided. I was in the Word Of Faith for 20+ years I now think it is a very questionable movement. If you'd like I can explain better if I send you private message. As I've listed before I've turned to more of the Reformed theologians.

Christ did not die to give us self esteem; Christ died to display God's righteousness because in His grace He passed over sins (see Romans 3:25). Schuller's gospel is a man-centered one.
God did make man the center of His Universe. God made this whole universe as a place for His child. God looks at you as His greatest creation. That is why He blesses you so:)
I disagree Satori thats the problem with the American church. It's too man-centered, worship is to be God-centered. Actually God didn't owe man a thing He could've let Adam and Eve die in their sin. Thank God for His unmerited grace through the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ didn't die for your self esteem He did it out of His grace and mercy.

I agree with you 100%. How does Jesus Christ dying for my sins, equate to not having self esteem. Shouldn't God's Amazing Grace make it soar? :)
