@callofdutykiller1 Your phone should have prompted you to activate service. If it didn't, go to your dialer and hit *228 and follow the voice prompts.
Thank you so much for this video! My Droid X did a software update yesterday and got stuck in a boot-loop. Verizon Tech Support couldn't help except to recommend that I check Droid Forums for a possible "Root" since my phone just went out of warranty and wasn't covered for software problems. Anyway, my phone works just great now! Thanks again, I really appreciate your help!
@i8ajar Are both windows full of info (the device and file properties)? If so and it's still failing, I would try another pc, preferably with a different version of windows. If that's not an option, google search "linux solution sbf" and click the first link. Basically you'll burn an iso image on a disk and then run the cd with your phone plugged into it while in bootloader mode. I hear it's really easy, and fail proof.
@RageXmods Yes both windows are full, I tried a different computer one with vista and an ubuntu partition. In vista I can't get rsdlite to load the sbf file, I moved it around to different folders and still nothing in the right window, but it shows my phone info in the left window.
In ubuntu I get an error that it failed to connect to my phone. Is there anything else that I could try. I would sure appreciate it.
@RageXmods I just thought that I would let you know that I got the sbf to work. I tried on four different computers to finally get it to work. Thanks for all the help
@i8ajar Holy crap man! 4 of them? Lol. You should really look into the Linux disk solution! Rsdlite has not been kind to you my friend! Glad you got it working man...hold on to that computer lol.
@i8ajar I use my windows 7 machine all the time. I never have problems but some people say they have to right click on rsdlite and run as administrator. If you have problems on that computer try and see if you have another available. If that doesn't work do a google search for "linux solution sbf" and click on the first link to find out how to go about using that method instead.
uhm...i think i used it on windows 7 too lol..and i got the data corrupt thing..i know the kid solved the problem but idk what the hell the linux thing is now..so what do i do? :(
@Assassin523 Google is your friend :). Search "linux solution sbf" and the first link is a very informative forum post with instructions. Basically, you burn the iso that you download on to a cd, run the cd in your computer while the phone is connected, and it's automated. When it's done, you are stock again. Just make sure to download whichever iso you need, Froyo, or Gingerbread 602.
@Assassin523 I've never done the Linux sbf solution before, but there should be some directions on what to do somewhere. From what I gather though, you have to put your phone in bootloader mode (like I did in this video) and then run the cd that you burned. Leave it plugged in until it's done. Other than that info, you'll have to look up the rest if there is any. I've never done it before personally.
@megayuvaraj So, I'm guessing you got the file properties and device properties to load in the windows right? If it fails after that you need to see about using a different pc if possible. Sometimes RSDlite doesn't like Windows 7. My wife's pc fails me every time. If that's not an option, send me a private message letting me know, and I'll send you a link for another process you can try involving burning a disk with a program on it, and running the disk with your phone connected.
@RageXmods .. thank you so much bro. i fixed it. thank god.
with is RSDlite there is no use after that . its keep on failing. so i found some site flashing through linux. i tried it boothing my usb , thats really amazing it worked. flashed by to 2.1. then am stuck in boot loop , i cleared used cache... its working ... thats awesome man , you pplz really rock. thank you soo much
@megayuvaraj Good man, I'm glad you got it. The linux boot was the next thing I was going to suggest, but you found it so that's good. Hang on to that because if you're going to be modding some more, you'll need it again.
@megayuvaraj Yes, you should be able to detach as long as it isn't saying that it's flashing or anything. Truthfully, if the left windows is blank, it's not even seeing your phone. That's why I was saying it's probably the drivers. I find it odd that you've done this before and it's not seeing your phone now.
Also, since it never flashed anything, you're phone should still be running MIUI with nothing changed. If you need your phone until you get it figured it out, you should be able to reboot your phone and use it with MIUI still.
@megayuvaraj You need to download the drivers for your phone. There should be a link in the description. Download either 32 bit or 64 bit depending on your version of Windows. Install them to your pc, then try it again. This time, make sure both windows fill up.
@megayuvaraj Oh, well you have to have the phone powered off, like my sbf video says. It sounds like you're doing this while the phone is powered on, right?
@megayuvaraj Lol, it's cool man. I don't mind helping out. I do try to be pretty thorough in my videos, so when in doubt, just watch it again and see if you missed something :).
@megayuvaraj Well just to make sure we're on the same page, you have to hold the camera and volume down first, then hold the power button and don't let go until you see the screen flicker. Is that what you're doing?
this happened to my dx back in june and since have gotten fed up and bought an iphone, but would still like to play with my droid,
all it does when i try to turn it on is, show the m logo then turn off, and i know the battery is ok cause bootloader says so and it doesnt shut off when i try to do a hard factory reset (which also didnt help at all)
@joshslays Holy crap, I just now saw your comment lol. I had multiple comments that day and it got buried in my emails man, I'm sorry. Did you get it figured out?
ive tried doing this many times, and spent hours downloading various sbfs and rsd lite never seems to recognize them, and doesnt show anything in the properties section
I'm about to do this, but i need 80% battery XD Im about to go download RSDlite 4.8 and i have yet to find a link to download Android 2.3.340 that actually works. Lol ugh... anyways, THANK YOU! I'm tired of not being able to get on Xbox LIVE lol, i need to get back to 2.3.340 to be able to Z4Root. Haha thanks a bunch. PS: RUNNING ANDROID 4.5.596, Will it work?
@xXDoomSaierXx I would be careful doing that. People are reporting that Verizon is monitoring unauthorized tethering and hit them with ridiculous fees for usage such as that. As for .596, I never could get tethering to work because they are actively trying to stop it, and with .596, it just redirects you to a Verizon page explaining that you need to pay for tethering. I'm on Froyo kernel right now (custom rom) and having trouble getting it to work.
@RageXmods Dang, now im extremely weary to do this. Well, i guess it will be nice to have it back to my original settings on 2.3.340. Oh boy, im scared to tether. :o. I never could figure out how to do all those custom ROM things but, hey. I've figured out all of this other stuff about it, who's to say i can't figure that out. I'm just really hoping i can tether, because i miss having my Live :(
@xXDoomSaierXx People playing xbox live and ps3 on their phone data is exactly why they are trying to stop tethering so vigorously. Doing that puts a strain on the network, and the people who are doing such, are the ones they are targeting. With the amount of data that it uses, I can promise you that they know you're doing it and they have the right to end your contract, charge you termination fees, and more. At least that's what is in the "terms of service" contract that you signed.

ok do i downloaded rsdlite 4.8 that worked but i try downloading the other file and it doesnt work. something about the file couldnt be found therefore it couldnt be saved. what do i do?
@partychick6464 I would need to know exactly what it says, and at what step you were on when you saw the error, in order to help properly. Also, I'm currently on vacation and I will not be able to respond quickly, so you may want to head over to DroidModd3rx's channel and ask him for help if you need a quick response. He's very knowledgeable and helpful.
Ok. So I have tried RSD lite 4.8 and 4.9 and i have moved the SBF file all over the place and I can not get it to load up on the file side of rsd lite. Am I missing something?
@kayliestarr You may have to run RSDlite as administrator if you are on Windows 7. Right click on it and hit Run as Administrator. Let me know if that doesn't work.
@puertorican15bros Every phone is different when it comes to this stuff...especially from one brand to another, so no, it will not work for an LG phone.
Can I use this to flash back to Froyo?.I installed gingerbread right through the phone update to see if I was going to like GB,,I want to go back to Froyo to reroot.

@jorgeduranfigueroa Definitely don't throw it away lol. These things are really hard to truly "brick", if not impossible. Now that you brought it back from the dead, you should have more confidence in making it better through rooting and rom'ing though :).
THANK YOU so so much. You're a lifesaver. I thought I would have to buy a new phone after I messed up flashing a rom. :) Keep up the good work man
