Martin Sheen knows he shares a common lineage with Mexicans both are Iberian, Spanish, Hispanic, Latin, Speak Castellano, have Celtic heritage andshe shares his sympathetic feeling for Mexicans in an interview he did with Emilio in Canada.

I am a Mexican-American my grandfather was an immigrant from Galicia to Mexico. Like 90% of Mexicans, I have Spanish heritage, Galician heritage, Celtic (stray red hairs in on my head and many in my beard), I am a Latin-american, Martin Sheen is a Latin-European-American. I'm proud of my Aztec heritage as well (my great-grandmother) I am proud of my European Heritage.

@WonderWomanFan4life At the beginning of the session (which we did not get to record) Emilio explained that one of the reasons why they wanted to make this film was in part a tribute to their Spanish heritage - Martin's father is Spanish, from Galicia in Spain, and his mother is from Ireland, so I guess that might be part of the answer?

LATINO, as referring to a race-as in Brown-skinned people with straight black hair and oriental-like eyes- means one has indigenous blood. In Spain, Argentina, Chile and uruguay, for instance, there are millions of people with Spanish last names who have NO indigenous blood, thus being white.

@diuga1 In fact, in Spain just to give an example, lived the Muslims during seven centuries. Galicia , in spite of belong to Spain, has a celtic tradition, nothing to do with latins. Talking about nature, even music, is closer to Ireland :). Martin's father was from Galicia, a celtic region, and Martin's mother was irish, a celtic country.

As a result of the social association of the time, he chose to pick a name of Martin, one of his favorite actors and took the last name of Archbishop Fulton Sheen as his stage name.

I'm NEGRO but my husband is BAVARIAN with a Jewish mother. So people in LA mispronounce my name all the time. They think I'm married to 100% Jew but he's not full jew only 50%, also Romanian/German. When I watch this video and then I watch one of charlie's rants and egocentric behaviour I know for certain he is addiction is not over and he is not cured.I say this because a person that has accepted his addiction is repentant, and he has been blaming everyone and their dog for his actions. He obviously comes from a wonderful family it is unfortunate that he has strayed so far!

@mahalcat yes it is a sad situation for sure. Martin discussed his own past issues in the interview, but refrained from discussing Charlie. He said that his faith had helped him, and I had the strong sense that he would like nothing better than for Charlie to do a journey like the Camino, but Martin is wise enough to know Charlie has to find his own way in his own time frame. We can only hope that Charlie finds his peace soon for the sake of all the people who have loved him and admired him.
