I sure hope Obama sticks to what he said in this video. The native people deserve to be recognize, treated with respect, and given what they were promised.
Obama had my vote before he made clear his feeling on the subject of Native Amerians. I know that this may very will back firer. I am forever grateful for Obama not turning his back on the first American's. I pray U.S citizen can except that Native American's have right's that have never been honored. I know most feel they should be exterminated.
Thank you for coming forward. I pray this not cost you the election.
Thank you for being open and honest on a subjet that is far from popular.
I do hope he will be one to make congress recognize the treaties with the Native American tribes in this country. They all deserve their pride and dignity. Working a positive light of change inside the country will reflect greatly on the benifits of relating to the rest of the world. All people are equall and have human rights in the US and outside the country. Barack has a genuine tone to how he feels about what is humane.
It would be very nice to see the treaties recognized. More aid to the Native communities for more health and healing programs. It would be very nice Mr Obama.
The man is right on this issue and it is time a President respects History and those people affected by it. It is unfortunate by some of the comments posted that people are still ignorant of our Great History! It is a shame that people still do not obviously know their Identity besides the History to this Great Country. Barack can accomplish these things not through taxes but through money from the resources of the land. Wake Up America!
Great moment here! The man can, when given the chance, give detailed answers to specific questions, and I hope he does more of that. He's his most authentic, when he's doing that, and I believe that's what will win this election.
Obama cares about every one in the United States. I believe that Obama would also be a wonderful diplomat when talking to leaders of other countries. Yes, I believe that Obama would make a great President.
I was just elected the caucus alternate for Obama for my precinct in Nevada. As far as I know, Obama is the only candidate that has addressed Native issues in his campaign for President and will fight for minorities and see that their voice is heard on a national level.
Native Americans should not have to give up basic needs just to keep their independence. It will be good to have a president who understands the issues of Native Americans and who has compassion for the situation that they've been put in due to no fault of their own. Vote Obama!
Excessive experience never creates change, it only builds more and more of the S.ame O.ld S.ituation - S.O.S. - a bill upon bill upon bill, builds a hill full of bills, only change with change with change, creates a vessel filled with change.
Suffocate under a hill printing bill after bill after bush, or embrace the gold standard of change, moving on toward a new horizon.
Glad you asked... :) He's the real deal. watch?v=TpW_-aw_Au0
Former Marine who fought in Vietnam (wrote "Fields of Fire" and an OpEd called "Purple Heartbreakers"), and he's got a son serving in Iraq now. He's the Senator who beat the hell out of George "Macaca" Allen in Virginia. VA's a tough state for Dems, and he dominated. His win brought the Senate under Democratic control. He also told George W. Bush off once in a reception line fore new Senators... Love this guy.
WIKI: ""The pres approached Webb later and asked him, "How's your boy?", referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq. According to Congressman Jim Moran of VA, aides warned the Pres to be "extra sensitive about talking to Webb about his son, since Webb's son has had a recent brush with death in Iraq." Webb replied "I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President." Bush responded, "That's not what I asked you. How's your boy?" Webb responded, "That's between me and my boy, Mr. President."
Finally, someone that is willing to listen and work with, and correct (as much as possible) our despicable treatment of Native Americans. This is change. 08ama
I'm glad Senator Obama spoke to the crowd about the issues of Native Americans. Being a member of the Native American communtiy in Chicago, I have dealt with the beuracracy of government when it comes to get funding for our grass roots organizations and I can't say that I had the chance to work with Mr. Obama but, atleast I know are mass mailings and memos to government officials are not falling on deaf ears.
Love the Internet. I can not say I ever heard a candidate address Native American issues before this second. In my heart I know Senator Obama has the best interests of all citizens in mind, not just the rich and corrupt as things have been in the past.
I sure hope Obama sticks to what he said in this video. The native people deserve to be recognize, treated with respect, and given what they were promised.

I was just thinking that! I think Native American issues all too often fall by the wayside...possibly because of our truly tragic history.
