...or you could just buy the usb version of the mixer and record digital to laptop, and considering how cheap laptops are, what's the fucking point of this shit?
also the ipod may not be isolated but it doesn't need to be. if you were using the old micro memo recording attachment with the microphone that came with it then yes you will be able to hear the ipod spinning. but if your using this consul the signal is being transmitted threw the connector.
as they say in the video world, garbage in garbage out.
The ipod voice notes feature records a 44.1khz stereo .wav file.. that's CD quality. quality isn't bad at all except that the Ipod isn't isolated very well and you can hear it run in your recordings if the levels are low.
It in no way uses the Ipods powered output so the file remains digital and sounds as clear as it was recorded.
also the unit is not dependant on the Ipod to function. you can plug it into nearly any software or use it analog.
Anyone who knows anything about audio, will know the iPod audio quality sucks big time. So this instantly alienating professional sound engineers and if this is based at the lower end market then the target audience won't be able to afford an ipod anyway.
actually winterfist the audio quality of the ipod is pretty good. because essentially it is only serving as a hard drive encoder. the signal that you send in is going to determine if it sounds bad or good. but again, essentially it is doing the same thing that any hard drive would be doing.
also, it's not like the human ear can actually hear the difference between 96hz or 44hz 16bit or 24bit. the only way to tell the difference is when your doing audio edits and thats a visual not audio tell.
@ezion I wasn't saying the recorded quality would be any different. My point was that a 'professional musician' would not have an iPod because they would be able to tell the difference to something much better when listening to the songs.
