Jenna Russell is my favorite "Dot." I love Bernadette, but Dot doesn't fit her range very well - you can hear her straining/yelling during particular moments on the OBC recording, but I still love her (her Witch in INTO THE WOODS is perfection!). I just think Jenna is much better at the role. Bernadette was at times too childish, but Jenna is very maternal and warm, which I love, and her voice fits the vocal demands very well.  Wish I could have seen her live :(

Bernadette doesn't have a strong voice, but the character that she puts into her voice is what makes her amazing. Sondheim was well aware of that.

I saw Jenna and then my mom bought me the OBC CD (cause it was cheeper) and the OBC DVD with Bernedette. Jenna is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO­OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO­OOOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN HER!!!!!!! She was SOOOO robbed of the Tony!

i too think that Jenna is sooooo much better than Bernadette...... when i saw Jenna i was in AWEEE!!! when i saw the DVD with Bernadette i was like.... UMMM ...OK.......

Jenna was robbed of the Tony and that whole show was pretty much robbed of all the Tonys that they should have won..

As I said in my previous comment, Bernadette sounds much much better in the cast recording of Sunday in the Park, she was ill during the recording of the DVD. Both Jenna and Bernadette are amazing.

Well it depends. Jenna is much better playing the role of Dot than Bernadette is. But if you've ever seen Into the Woods, Bernadette is absolutely AMAZING playing the witch. Personally, I like Bernadette more, but that's because I love Into the Woods more than Sunday in the Park With George, and the witch is one of my characters.

I agree that Jenna is amazing but I wouldn't say she was better than Bernadette Peters, (NO ONE IS BETTER THAN BERNADETTE PETERS!) On the cast recording of the original, Bernadette sounds much much better as she had pneumonia during the recording of the DVD which had some effect on her voice.

I have both cast recordings and I love them both but I love Bernadette too much to say I like Jenna better! Arrgh! I'm torn but I guess I love them both equally.
