When I was 6 listening to this song I thought it was a waste. When I got old enough to know the joys and heartache of love, this became one of the greatest songs Queen (Deacon) ever wrote.
@markyboy1704 i don't want to be arguementative. but silent????...his bass lines are evident and prominent in all queens work.....wouldnt be the same without that sound...but i knew what you meant.
I love it that you can almost always recognize who wrote the song just by listening to it, they have such distinct styles yet they match each other perfectly!
Deacon's songs are always great. A simple but nonetheless great song, beautifully sung by Freddie. The couple John/Deacon is stunning! And Freddie said once that he loved singing John's songs!
This is one of the songs I bet George Michael practiced his voice on....there's clearly so much influence in his singing style he took from Freddie...There is no other....Freddie will always be the ABSOLUTE BEST voice in the Universe...and he was one of the Princes....Freddie....love you, miss you, will always sing with you!
all these commments are so dead on,a band like this puts to shame any music of today, all great to see and hear how much this band is loved and recoqnized as pure talent, thank you all for your great comments
Wow, as corny as it may sound 1:20 - 1:40 is so beautiful it brings a tear to my eye! That's what the power of music is supposed to do, and that is unfortunately lacking or to some people, completely absent from today's music......
imagine this song sung by george michael or mika and released for charity as a 2 track single with the original as the b side. I think it would sell pretty well!!!
It´s soooo very hard to pick one song out of Queen´s many but this one realyy IS a masterpiece!! How could God have done this and taken Freddie away from us?
y'know though, if he HADN"T gotten AIDS, we wouldn't have such great songs as "These Are The Days of Our Lives", "I'm Going Slightly Mad", "I want it All", "The Show Must Go On" , "Mother Love" and so many more. Not to say Freddie getting AIDS was a good thing, but it had an impact on the music he played and made, and though he was facing death it made his songwriting more meaningful and deep. We should look at the great music he left behind, and celebrate his life through that music.
@TheSeaPeopleandMe Well, instead of the Innuendo album, we'd have another 20 - 40 years of Freddie's music. I would choose the latter, no question. I'm convinced he had SO much music left in him, his body was just unable to accommodate his brain (hence, his creativity/musical talent). =( R.I.P., Freddie.
@TheSeaPeopleandMe Well to be comlpletely honest he only wrote I'm going slightly mad outta that list..... But! Other great songs such as Don't try so hard wouldnt have been made!! Good point tho on the band making emotional songs that related to celebrating life!!
Brian does an amazing job with his guitar mimicking organs... I heard dead on time before this song... Just in this 2 songs you can see how versatile all queen members were...
Now that you've pointed it out... but it should be the other way around - Last Christmas sounds similar to this, because this predates George Michael's Song by 6 years. And then, there is Can't Smile Withoiut You...
Love the guitar orchestra in this track. Each member was just totally intuitive of what to play to compliment what the others were playing to build a perfect song/overall production if that makes sense! They seemed to have a strong sense of what instrument/vocal sounds n styles should be put in n wot should be left out. And thus I submit my case for why Queen are ACE!!!!
I absolutely love Queen more than any other band on this earth. This is John's song? He doesn't get enough credit. He was the best songwriter in the group <3
it's one more fantastic Queen song, the kind that gets stuck in your head, even if it's been along time since you've heard it. I love Queen, if you don't, then you just don't have good taste.
@Piero1940 They should teach real music in school and encourage this stuff more. Queen, The Beatles, Elvis, Sinatra, Dean Martin, make the students versatile but in real music areas.
I think this is the most romantic song ever written & Freddie is voice is from Heaven. I could listen to this a million times & never get sick of it. If any women feel the same I might want to marry you!!!!!!
She stood there all alone I went and asked her name I never thought that this could happen to me In only seven days It would take a hundred or more For memories to fade I wish Friday would last for ever I held her close to me I couldn't bear to leave her there Saturday just twenty four hours Oh no I'm going back home on Sunday Ooh so sad alone
Words and music by John Deacon Monday the start of my holiday Freedom for just one week Feels good to get away ooh Tuesday I saw her down on the beach I stood and watched a while And she looked and smiled at me Wednesday I didn't see her I hoped that she'd be back tomorrow And then on Thursday My luck had changed
such a beautiful song . I love this song very much because the melody is simple but QUEEN made it more beautiful with the arrangement and freddie's superb vocal ! we miss you freddie !!
Es la misma pregunta que le hicieron un millón de veces a los miembros de Queen cuando lanzaron el disco. Evidentemente se llamó Jazz para que 30 años después la gente siga preguntando que por qué se llama Jazz.
