Yeah, the character of Peter Pevensie "dies", so to speak, but it is in the end of the final Narnia book, "the Last Battle", and as the old Narnia is destroyed, Aslan creates a new Narnia. Peter, Ed, and Lucy, "die" in this world, but they and all the other "good guys" gets to spend forever in the new Narnia. Sounds great payoff!
