you should see what happens when a sub-woofer plays a 1Hz sound

i generated one with audacity's frequency generator and played it on my sub

p.s. you need a pretty good quality sub to do it, i have two sony ones, the larger, more expensive one could play it but the smaller cheaper one couldnt

if you cant play the sound, it basically makes the sub beat really slowly so you can see it go all the way in and out
