my 7 month old son got meningitis when he was 4 and a half months old..
i would give anything to be as lucky as your son, i could live with that much more as then how much the meningitis affected my son.. my son had a rare kind and he was not a by the book case. aiden was on a vent for months, sedated, treated. he is now home, so far he seems deaf, he only opens his left eye sometimes, and is very low vision. he moans to comunicate, has ceribral palsy (spastic) he had sufferd many strokes..

wow... your spelling... either way i had viral meningitis when i was 9 and it effected my joints, and muscles i was left crippled for months.
but they say there both pretty deadly, i also blame hospitals i layed in my bed for 2 weeks crying for the nurses to give me something and they wouldnt
Work on your spelling. Anyways, I have all those symptoms and I am 11 years old. My doctor says I might have viral or bacterial meningitis. I have had one very bad headache which was last week and it wouldn't stop for 5 hours, I almost vomited too. The weird thing was it stopped when I was at the doctor's office.
So sorry your son had this awful disease, but glad he is doing so well. I got B M in January this year. Was awful and hard on all our family. I am deaf in my left ear but can hear about 60 decibels in my right, I have a hearing aid. I get bad tinitus too which gets me down. But you have to be positive, especially when u hear of a child contracting it. Thanks for posting the vid. If anyone suppects they have this don`t wait, time is of the essence!
thank you for your comment my son is deaf in is right ear and as got a tiny little bit off hearing in is left ear he as also got 1 hearing aid for the left ear . is sighn lauguge is very gd and he is 10 years old now and he gose to a mid stream school i blame the hospital for is deafness because they left him 5 days with out treating him and for the test to come bk but i am greatfull that he is only deaf because some ppl die with this horibly disease gd luck and thank you
Hi, thanks for ur reply. U are right in how lucky ur son is and me too. When I fell ill I knew somit wasn`t right but the Dr mis-diagnosed me with a viral infection. I lay for another 8 hours in agony til I knew nothing more. Apparently I was near to being in a coma! I still feel angry and resentful towards the Dr for not diagnosing my problem! I can`t believe they left ur son for 5 days with this disease, thats disgusting! Again I am glad he is doing well, bless him!
I got that when i was born, and it was so bad it burned the hearing hairs (hairs that sends sound signals to the brain ) in my ear which caused me to be half deaf, thank god it only took one side and not both :( So i am deaf on my left ear
my son got it when he was 14 mths old it dameged both ear;s he wheres an hearing aid on 1 ear and the other ear is compleatly deaf he users british sighn lauguge and he is now 10 years old and gose to a realy gd school in derby .... thank you for your coment
Meningitis is not definitely the soul cause of deafness. There are other causes, like birth defects from illnesses, and other sources and in some form, heredity. In my case, my mom's illness while being pregnant with me caused my sensi-neural loss in both ears and a cleft palate. Also, fluid build up from the drainage tube problem can contribute to hearing loss.

hmm. I've never heard of it taking over hearing. But then again, who knows what it can do. I got it when i was 10 and it ruined my right side.
