@tincan77 I own a colt, love the thing, most beautiful handgun! But in a SHTF situation, id rather have the capacity of the FNP. The price between a quality 1911 and the FNP is pretty big too, with the 1911 being more expensive. I guess id go with the 1911 though unless your big into SHTF situations.
This is a cool video, just a minor suggestion, if you don't cup the firearm with your left hand and get a higher grip on the gun you will reduce the kickback and be more accurate. Just some food for thought. Cheers
@ParkDaddy42 Yep - you're right!! I no longer hold pistols that way - I use the more standard push pull method now with the left hand even with the right. It does work better! The more recent vids show how it has changed since I started shooting.
every sidearm has recoil, the point is to find a pistol, and make that pistol ur buddy, shoot it til u notice any recoil, or faults in the side arm if any, basically make it part of you, being critical of a pistols trig lag, recoil, breakdown diff, safetys is redundant. a real gunman makes the pistol not the other way around.
@illadelphripper except its weak.. and the military IS looking to bring back the 45 because of all the complaints about how the 9mm isnt putting threats down quick enough
@FutureMarine1775USA So what's wrong with the Beretta? It's one of the toughest and most reliable pistols ever made next to Glock. The reason why the military adopted it. Here is a little fact for you: two-thirds of all M9 pistols endurance tested at Beretta U.S.A. fired 5,000 rounds without a single malfunction or, at most, with only one malfunction. The 92FS is on my list to buy, maybe after I pay off this Colt. Bringing my pistol collection to 3. I also have a Kimber 1911.
@Noremorse10 Honestly, I just don't see the 9mm Para as a good pistol round. You need at least .40 cal for a good pistol rond. Also, the beretta is the most uncomfertable gun I have held in my life. It dosnt fit in my hand, nor anyone else I know. If I were to have a 9mm pistol, I would go with the CZ 75.
@FutureMarine1775USA Well I agree on a larger caliber being needed for combat situations. Not to rail on the 9mm, it's still a good option for personal protection. I have never fired a 9mm, only .45. Which means when i buy my first 9, it will feel like a .22? lol. But the pistol needs to pass a torture test. I know of CZ firearms, don't know anything about their quality though. Never heard anything bad.
DUDE compared to a 1911 the FNP feels like a .380. The recoil is so damn smooth its almost.....no scratch that is is orgasmic. Im a Glock man and i though i would never find a gun to say is better. Well heres one. I cant wait to get one for my own. I shot my buddys today. Im in love.
Gotta love the FNH. I have the 40 and it is just a great all around gun. Smooth to shoot not bad at all for recoil. I just cant beleive how many people dont even consider this gun when purchasing a hand gun. they all seem to go for springfield or glocks.
Hey nashi i meant to ask you. Are you a gun dealer? If not what made you purchase both the 46 and 9mm? I know the 45 was brand new but the 9mm you were using to compare size looked brand new also. Whats the size of the magazine for the 9mm? How much is that one running for? Im considering getting my wife one for christmas and thought the 9mm would be perfect for her.
No I'm not a dealer. I started with the 9 -thought it would great as a first pistol. I liked it so much that I got the 45 too. Always wanted a 45 acp. I think she would love the 9mm. It holds 16 rds vs 14 for the 45. I think they are about $500 last time I checked.
I would have to disagree with pagmic i think the 40 is closer in size to the 45. Its lighter of course but is close. Like i said in my other post i love my FNP 40 i would reccomend getting one for sure
Based on the FNH website the 9 & 40 are the same overall length and have the same barrel length. Slightly different weight though - 24.7 oz vs 26.7. The 45 has a 1/2 inch longer barrel, is longer overall, and weighs 33 oz
If my memory serves me right, the FNP-9 & 40 are the same frame. When I was shopping I compared the 9 & 40 side by side. I'm sure there are differences, but nothing major. The FNP-45 is a larger frame pistol.
Very good - I've have had zero problems so far. It handles well and I like the feel of the gun - it's my favorite to shoot. Feels solid - all parts fit well & operate smoothly. The slide is a heavy piece of kit!!!
I have one of these pistols myself, and I would like to know if it would be safe to shoot +P ammunition out of this pistol. I have my thoughts on Corbon 185gr Jacketed Hollow Point +P ammo.
the recoil does indeed look comparatively moderate considering you are firing .45 ACP. Do you suppose the size of this frame, which is definitely not modest has something to do with it? How's the balance? Is it nose heavy?
ethosflux...sorry I deleted your comment -so I tried to replace it and answer your questions.
I think the balance is quite good for a large frame gun and it handles very well. You're holding 2 lbs, so I know that helps keep the felt recoil down. Truth be told - of the three pistols I have...this is my favorite to shoot.
So what does the target look like ?
frankgon4 10 months ago
@frankgon4 Don't remember - didn't keep it. Never said I was a great shot, but I do well with this pistol. I prefer it to the G26 I have.

thinking hard about a 1911 as my first pistol purchase (don't like the snappy recoil of the 9mm or .40). anyone have thoughts on an FN45 vs 1911?

that weapon has very manageable recoil for a .45. I'm impressed.

The Marines might adopt this as their new sidearm. This makes me happy because I'll take anything over a M9.

how is the 40? Is it about the same size/weight as the 45 or smaller?

i believe it is about equal in size to the fnp 9 which is a smaller design than the 45
