what i know about taser is that it disrupt muscle so causing it not to move or not to respond..

what cuteakoeh said is pretty much it, your muscles do not necessarily contract, it makes every muscle in your body basically fatigue like working out at the gym and rapidly building up lactic acid which makes the muscle actually go limp after about 2-4 seconds. Even if he did manage to pull the trigger his arm was already moving away from his head

basically that's it, sinse muscles are tissues that move when stimulated by electric and chemical pulses sent from the brain along the nervous system. getting tasered interupts the electric signal in the nervous system temporarily incapacitating the victim. it hurts like a bitch as well.

I think the big problem with tasers is that you can't tell who has a neurological disorder and who doesn't - and the cops perceive them as being painful BUT benign. I kinda wonder if some cops don't get off on using them. IE UCLA incident. We ever get a word on the name of the guy that kept doing that?

Crappy marketing video, which doesn't reflect the objective fact that over 150 people have been killed by officers by TASER guns in the last five years.

This video actually shows 2 lives being saved by police officers having TASER devices. Without them, the people in the video could have been injured or possibly killed if the police had to use other types of tools such as guns. I challenge you to produce one medical report that says that TASER devices have been the sole cause of death to anyone. Do your own research, don't believe rumor or newspaper headlines.

Amnesty International support the 150 deaths figure, and, yes, that's deaths in conjunction with the TASER - but if you want a report showing a TASER brand device as the sole cause of death you can look up any one of the 22 coroners reports in the last five years, in the US alone, where _it was listed as the sole cause of death for a person_.

Furthermore, as far as 'the people could have been injured using other methods' is concerned, the people in this video _were_ injured: TASER International no longer makes the claim that TASER guns have no lasting effects.

And anyway I don't have to prove TASER guns kill: you are the one making the claim that these devices are non-lethal, the burden of proof is on *you* not me.

Most deaths have occured either because the person was epileptic, or landed awkwardly during the tazing process.

Which leads me to my point: where I live, the police do not carry guns. At all. Until a week ago they didn't have TASERs either. And yet, despite that (or, as I think, because of it), we have have one of the lowest crime rates in the OECD.

So, I agree: TASER guns are better than conventional guns. But they sure as hell aren't better than conventional non-lethal police tactics.
