Hello. The short film Richard Davis used as an example is called "Der Abschied", by Arpad Bondy. The english title is "A Short Goodbye". There are videos on the internet.
I personally am a total music freak I enjoy all types of music and love to break down the meanings, messages, melody and etc. Now being more consciously aware of music in movies and commercials only heights that love and appreciation of it.
Can you tell me the name of this german film maker and the name of the short-film so maybe I can find it on my own? I couldn't quite get it from the video...
I know it's a problem with the people you work with... but just to cut the work out of it, here it is:
"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."
Doesn't matter what the copyright law says when the copyright holder asks us not to do it. They will allow music/video to be shown at public events and offline. There is a lot of concern about online use of copyrighted material. As a YouTube partner, I also have an extra reason to follow these rules. I hope to have time to do a new cut of all these that removes these frustrating elements.
You know, I really wouldn't even worry about it. I mean you can still hear the music. And that's what this is all about anyway.
And hey, you wouldn't happen to know where to find the videos from his friend Sheldon (the one that he mentions is going to speak for the next time) would you?
In the context of this video copyright does not apply, fair use, commentary, educational whatever the point is with out the content these whole sections are really just pointless and mean nothing.
It depends who you talk to. Because I work for someone else, I have to follow their guidelines. I actually agree with you but I have to respect what my organization tells me. I will work on getting permission to use those clips because they're really worth seeing. But I have to do it according to the rules I'm under.
Do be fair, Rick Davis is not the composer on Robin Hood. Michael Kamen was the composer whereas Mr. Davis was one of many orchestrators to work on the film.

@fictionalfilm It would be nice. I have talked with Richard Davis about it a bit. Maybe we'll be able to get it online one of these days.

If you do a search for "dbocaz director composer" or "COMPOSER/DIRECTOR COLLABORATION PART 1 of 9" in YouTube, those videos come up for you.
Enjoy!
