  • Wasn't this dialogue in the last episode as well?

  • The waitress, Clare, was supposed to be a regular in the show, but they dropped her and created the character Elaine instead. Kramer was named Kessler, and the place they are eating was called Pete's Luncheonette, which was part of a left over set from The Muppets Take Manhattan. It is amazing that this show had several changes right after this pilot and ended up making it one of the most popular sitcoms on TV.

  • And have you seen this 240p thing? Is that really all the p we need?

I mean, I go to a lot of trouble to keep my vision perfect. You got the eye appointments, the consultation, the exam with that big machine with all the flipping lenses, the which-is-betters, the read-the-first-lines, the picking the frame, the fitting, and on and on, just so I can get the perfect pair of glasses, come home and watch a video that was scratched onto a drum of wax.

    WHAT'S THE DEAL?

  • @Every1Tubes its 2007 though! :p

  • This is the way the show ended!

  • I actualy like this scene. George is really funny and confident in the female department. That waitress was supposed to be the original Elaine Benes

  • The rythm they created here was something completely new, wasn't it ?

No exagerated canned laughter like the other shows, just an evolving comedic scene.

  • This is fucking garbage compared to what the show evolved into, Jesus this fucking blows.

  • in this scene clearly we can see that early george was based on woody allen. later on as the show progressed george´s character was considerable changed as jason found out that george was actually based on larry david

  • @blackmoonshine99 I thought george was based on larry davids?

  • The waitress is sure busy writing on that small note. What is she writing? Declaration of dependence?

  • I find it quite funny in this episode how George is so keen on knowing about the girl Jerry met whereas in later episodes women are just so abundant that no-one even cares anymore.

  • At that time it was the eighties...

  • i just noticed both jerry seinfeld and jason alexander are left handed ..

  • Lol what's ironic is that Seinfeld began and ended with Jerry talking about the stupid button on georges shirt!! I've never seen the very very beginning...thanks for posting

  • @ridewithme247 Wouldn't say ironic, more like intentional.

  • why is george's voice so high pitch

  • @detahdomo I noticed the same thing, but with Jerry

  • years can go on and on... but this series will never die.

  • Skip to 3:59 for deja vu.

  • these pretzels are making me thirsty

  • Seinfeld is incredible. Its one of the only shows I've ever seen that makes the characters get less and less wacky as time goes on. Compare this with the last clip, and you'll realize that they are even FUNNIER when they don't act like comedians, and when they're acting like real people. Fact is more entertaining than fiction.

  • @meshumekha you have it backwards

  • the line on the right side of the video is much clearer than the left side.

  • I can't say Jerry came a long way as an actor.. but he improved over the series. Still my favourite show. Everything in life can be related to Seinfeld.

  • @thesleevelesstease oh no, terrible actor. Great show, though!

  • Damn, i knew i should've bought the complete seinfeld box set 4 years ago. now, starworld pulled it out and now i had to survive in watching clips on you tube. boo hoo. thanks 4 posting though!

  • this was on last night. best part is jerrys laundry skit . You get to see it from jerr's point of view.

  • So awesome how they saved that line and brought it all the way to the end. You never see that much thought go into shows anymore.

  • The very beginning of Gods

  • ha ha love this, for 10 yrs we got to watch george get more and more bald!!

  • i like Blair she should stayed on the show

  • in this day of 5 july 1989,a legend of tv is born

  • "I was signed as the only woman and a series regular on this great new sitcom. It was Jason, Michael, Jerry and me. We did the pilot. However, once the show was picked up, it became Jason, Michael, Jerry, Julia. I didn't mind so much at the time--it was just another job. But after about five years into the run of Seinfeld, I began to get it. " Lee Garlington (the waitress)

  • I can never pick a season, or an episode that I loved the most. I loved every single one of them equally because each of them were equally unique, and brilliant. The show grew on to me so much that I love every single character, event, allegory, unique phrase, the way of talking... even Snapple which Jerry drinks often. Its one amazing show. Everyone did a great job. Larry David gets a little more credit. He's super genius among all these geniuses.

  • Decaf left, regular right.

  • i liked the last season the best !

  • waitress was the only one funny in that entire exchange.

  • George: Blair, your a women right?

Blair: What gave it away George? LOLZ

  • @LOLUFAIL123 Its Clair

  • The woman gets the first really funny dialogue.

  • I really prefer George in the first seasons. After a while he got too angered and loud, but it may be because they wanted him to be like his father.

  • i love how they use their hands

  • George made this scene.... Jerry got better over time thank god!

  • Wow, Seinfeld as an80s sitcom! Ha ha...

  • The funniest jews - and they're a lot of funny jews lol

  • Wasn't the show called the seinfeld chronicles when it started?

  • @AgnosticProle

yes actually its either few epsiods or only that Epsiod that starts with the same shoe name

  • A Seinfeld baseball jacket that says "No hugging, no learning" under the logo. That's all I want.

  • The crazy thing is, that George looks pretty good in that shirt. But Jerry.... what is that thing!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh c'mon be a come with guy

  • The first season is kind of trippy to watch..so different

  • in all the comedy sketches like this, the characters were so much more rounder and didn't do and act and say the same things over and over like they do later on in the years ... i like it this way soo much better ... thumbs up if you agree

  • @XvBiBleMaNvX fuck your thumbs

  • @XvBiBleMaNvX

    I agree...

Season 3, epizode 23 (The Keys)

Jerry and George in Elain's apartment: ''What do they look like?''

''Like keeeys, they look like keys George''

They look exgzactly like keys !!! :))))))

  • Larry david Writes the most intelligent and hilarious dialogue and jerry and george are brilliant actors.

    best show EVER

  • holy shit George has hair :0

  • Larry and David? lol

  • It's funny to see how much The Restaurant has changed.

  • The farther you got in the show the more bald george got

  • george needs a skinhead

  • "Insert random, obscure Seinfeld tidbit that most people don't know which makes me feel more important than I really am."

  • what i didn't like about seinfelds first seasons is that there was to much long discussions. and most of the time a little boring.

but hey ! its a show about nothing !!

10 thumbs up for this show !

  • @sjmunoz

Yeah I didn't like the first season (then again it was only 5 episodes), it wasn't bad compared to most other TV shows but compared to the rest of the seasons it sucked. Season 2 was a little slow but it started picking up and becoming more "Seinfeld-ish" at that point and by season 3 they were in full force.

  • And history was made....

  • it's so odd how George started out as the 'advice-giver' to Jerry, and in later seasons George went to Jerry with more of his problems.

  • HOLY SHIT.

George has more hair in this clip!

  • its crazy how even their voices were different

  • You can tell how old this episode is as you can see a telephone booth in the opening

  • Wow, George, Jerry and . . . Claire?

  • that waitress had to be a recurring character, she was good

  • Jerry is a good actor thru all the years i dont care what anyone else says

hes a clean actor, and clean comdey standups..jsut a great person all together

  • I picked up Jerry Seinfeld from JFK airport one night and he told he me was starting a new show. A year later this was on the ear! :)

  • Only a true Seinfeld fan would appreciate the fact that the same exact dialogue was used in the final scene of the entire series. It goes to show that the characters never grew or matured as human beings over the span of 9 years. Brilliant.

  • @KennethMelvin exactly. even though im only twelve years old i love how it begings and ends... wait have we had this conversation before

  • @KennethMelvin What is a fake Seinfeld fan?

  • @KennethMelvin I know it's amazing! Hilarious.

  • @KennethMelvin

I guess they copied them on that 70's show last episode

  • @KennethMelvin indeed, that was the genius from larry and jerry

i hope you are a curb fan also, larry deserves every dollar hes earned, hell be a billionaire by 2020

  • @KennethMelvin Yeah I found it kind of depressing myself

  • @KennethMelvin Or they simply ran out of ideas.

  • George is very good at discourse analysis

  • Why are their voices so high?

  • A legendary sitcom is born...

  • Who are these guys, and why are they such a big deal?

  • @JohnQRandom Whether you're a troll or not, watch every episode, best sitcom ever.

  • @TelevisedChaos

    8 no troll.

  • jerry was so skinny wtf

  • this coffee is making me...thirsty.

  • Glenn beck is an asshole.

  • its weird early on in the first season or two it seems like the george and jerry characters were flipped

  • seinfield is just so ironic!

  • @CrazyKidSmoker thats what makes it so brilliant

  • if she gave George regular coffee,

    did Jerry get decaf instead?

  • @siimens73 yes he had regular coffee

  • @ElaineImSpongeworthy actually im pretty sure he didn't, if you knew jerry you would know he doesn't drink caffeine

  • @wrestler5108 well in one episode with Mr Bookman I heard him say "I don't drink coffee" and I have seen him drink coffee before on the show so you never know.

  • best show ever!!!

better than friends and that 70's show etc...

  • I just noticed that this guy really loves talking about clothes

  • I'm sure most Seinfeld fans know these facts, but anyway: the pilot was called The Seinfeld Chronicles, Julia doesn't appear in this episode, and Kramer's name was actually Kessler.

  • What is the waitress writing on her pad? They aren't ordering anything... :/

  • @Buggaton she could be adding up other people's checks...no computers back then in diners maybe

  • @guitarf2 Aha. You make a good point. I'll now watch it to see if that makes sense :p

  • For a first scene this wasn't too bad. You could see it had potential...it ended up getting way better later on but this was still enjoyable to see again.

  • Haven't we had this conversation before?

  • she's so shexshy!

  • this WAS the very first episode right? that aired in 89?

  • @poop101 aw ya the very same

  • Ashleigh and I are watching just for FUN..........

  • Love this show, watched it always when it shows on TV. First and last dialouge of the show, love this show.

  • Seinfeld is one of the finest Sitcom in the World!

  • this was also the last dialogue...they talked about the button on the shirt in jail :D

  • Actually, the last line of dialogue was from Jerry's bit in prison. "You've been great! I'll see ya in the cafeteria!"

  • I was thinking the same thing about the waitress. They added Elaine and didn't need her but it would've been interesting if she could've been a "Newman" type semi regular personality

  • GEORGE HAD HAIR!!

  • Great scene, too bad Claire doesn't come back.

  • Ha ha ha: He'll perk up! So funny when Jeryy cracks up at th end; I wonder why they didn't keep the funny waitress more?

  • She was going to be a semi-regular character, but then they added Elaine, the foursome was complete, and the rest is history.

  • I love this show!

  • I was four when Seinfeld started so never watched it. Thank god they still have repeats on, they dont make shows like this anymore.

  • George is so clearly in the Woody Allen mode here. Before he knew that he was actually Larry David, being Woody Allen was all he could be.

  • Its the first and last dialouge of seinfeld, and George wears the same shirt.

  • @Icestad

"I have a feeling we've had this conversation before"

  • hahaha

  • The waitress was cut from the show because she refused to play the part like Larry and David wanted. Bad career move, huh.

  • That is not actually true. NBC want a woman as a full character rather than only playing a supporting role hence "Elaine" was introduced. Obviously this woman was never going to play the part of "Jerry's girlfriend". The video of the seinfeld story is on youtube.

  • Well it's in the extras on the season 1 dvd. I didn't make it up.

  • @jastom74

Larry and David is the same person. David's his last name.

  • I meant Larry and Jerry...my bad.

  • LOL Larry AND David?

  • @Sisko182 LOLOLOLZZZ!!!! U were like, "Larry and David?" and the guy says, "Well it's true." Ha HA!!! He still didn't get it LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

  • @jastom74 LARRY DAVID*

  • @jastom74 I'm glade they did and went for Elaine.

  • @jastom74 its larry david not larry and david hahaahah

  • @jastom74 Larry David is one guy

  • @houw2 ...yeah, and Larry Charles & David Mandel are two people. They're writers of the show.

  • @jastom74 or maybe a good move for the show. You never know how different the show would have been with her in it......

  • @jastom74 Larry and David? Haha you mean Larry David, right?

  • @jastom74 and shes mono-tone.

  • @jastom74

larry and david...? you mean larry david. very interesting information though. reminds me of pete best in a way

  • I love how in this episode, George is an expert on women and knows everything about reading their "signs".

  • It was the best show i still watch it everyday! it never gets old. SYGNALS JERRY !!! How can anybody compare this show to friends or anything like that. this show rules and always will.

  • This was the FIRST and the LAST line of dialogue of Seinfeld. Pretty cool

  • Yeah, I was about to say.

  • @evh5150316

Showing they have accomplished absolutely nothing in the ten years they've had together except end up in jail

  • Decaf is about as useful as the pope's balls.

  • it's great to see those two so fresh faced and innocent

  • So hey, who are, these people?

  • George actually had hair in the beginning lol

  • They had this same conversation at the very end of the last episode too ;-)

  • yea the button conversation

  • Yeah I love how they end it by going back to the beginning of the series.

  • You realize they did that on purpose, right? It's called the "book ends" effect.

  • Of course I realized they did that on purpose. I really like it. I knew it wasn't a coincidence.

  • Cool.

  • i just saw this episode for the first time today

  • What did you think?

  • this show will never last. what is it about anyways!?

  • uh how old are you?

  • I know you're joking & all. But, be careful. Put "LOL" or something. With all the idiots on YouTube, you could be mistaken for that - an idiot. I get the joke though.

  • If they dont get the joke they are not Seinfeld fans anyways

  • Its about nothing.
