alright, seriously, this song was really hard. i did it. im a soprano and i had a hard time with it. but we did it amazingly. my choir teacher said that she'd been waiting since 2001 to find a madrigal choir good enough to do it. and we did it. it was a good song to do. btw, im on my brothers youtube. not mine.
the solo is actually in the music of this particular version. we had multiple soloist, and this girl just showed up one day and blew us away. as you can tell... this was our first performance.
must say though, it was an amazing song to perform, and performing with group is the high light of my college career!
oh understandable i'm the same way ...but gospel music is usually improved...i feel like they are just following a tradition in music...i liked it....but you seemed angry about it which is why i asked. the multiple ending in which the voice parts break up isnt in the music either....but i thought it was pretty neat.
is the lil solo part necessary....it really takes away from the song...but unless its in the song...we neva song it when i was in school...good tone though
i thought the arrangement was very poor but the choir was ok, the soloist is talented, they try to incorporate like a old style choir while they sinfing with like an R&B feel to it when the soloist sing i think it dosent go well at all
this was my favorite piece that was performed that night!!! i also look forward to returning to the SICC next year, i might even come to audition to go to school there
I still think the improvisation could have been a little cleaner. The soloist is talented but that she cracked on the high note and that could really damage her voice. I've been a member of USM Southern Chorale for 2 years now and I know I could never dream of hitting a note like that. She just needs to be careful. You only have one voice and one should treat it right. She should have also moved a little from the mic in some places.
I never said she wasn't good.......but, she did drown us out. When she began singing, you could no longer hear the choir. Perhaps is she hadn't been on a microphone, I would think differently, but since she was, and she is all you can hear while she sings, I stick to my accessment.
As good as she may be, I wish we would have done it without her. She COMPLETELY drowned us out...the ridiculous high note was uncalled for...I could be wrong, but I think it would have been better without her.
SHmig, you are so far behind you think you are first. I know the soloist and yes she rocked the house. That is what we call improvisation. You are wrong in thinking that she took away from the performance. She actually enhanced what the choir did. Don't hate, appreciate!!!!!!!!!
The solo (that doesnt exist), spoiled the song...

Y'all, the point of a musical community is to support one another, not rub our achievements in each others faces. play nicely.

I am a purist, I believe music should be performed as intended.
