honestly i still can't decide which disc is their best. is a real boy is in your face catchy and passionate and grabs your attention right away, while in defense is more experimental and intelligent and grows on you. the self-titled is too radio for me but has some great tracks. plus, menorah/majora has 3 of my favorite songs. decisions, decisions...

Well, I would say Max pretty much hit the nail right on the head when he said that the songs off of In Defense were more of a tribute towards other bands that he was fans of, and I can see how some songs may seem as if they were included for filler (ie. Hangover Song) but overall the record really is a force to be reckoned with.

It's obvious that there was a lot of things for Max to get out, which he did with In Defense, but every song is really a masterpiece despite length. I am a Say Anything fanboy though, and I know this is gonna be their best record.

hmm. i'm not exactly sure. I mean. I'm a gigantic fan of Max. And he is absolutely right in saying it is an album that pays tribute to the "sounds" that he respected. And I think that because of this In Defense was no where near what ...Is A Real Boy was. But the album as a whole is nice...

Max, I love you but the last album I was not feeling. It just wasn't my cup of tea so I'm not gonna judge. All I know is I respect you as an artists and definitely as a songwriter. "I Am A Transylvanian" is the most beautiful song in the wordl to me (well one of them lol). I think "I Am A Real Boy" (the double discs version) was a classic and I can't wait for the next Say Anything album.

Oh and just by reading a few comments under yours you can see the song playing is "Gobbledigook" by "Sigur Ros". Awfully strange that a band would put out a studio update for a new album and use another artist's music in it. Sad we can't hear a clip from a new song.
