  • After watching all the endings, I don't think Saavedro "deserves a happy ending" =o

  • grima wormtongue...

  • I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took a sledgehammer/heavy book to the face.

  • is saavedro alvays hitting with the hammer?

  • @shadowtheshadowlord sometimes he hits you with the book

  • It's hammer time! Break it down! *Dances in baggy pants*

  • these videos really helped me and my mom play this on the ps2... btw did you do this on the computer?

  • @Zarraka23 Yes, I think a mouse is better than a controller for Myst :)

  • @Pieuw how did you get it for your computer i must know

  • @Zarraka23 Uh dunno, my parents bought it like 10 years ago...

  • not being funny but even with saavedro by himself he may've been able to get back to narayan:

he leaves the outer shield open and goes to the top 'deck' of the building that your on, then he could just jump, sure he'd probably break his leg but if people were alive they would be able to help him?

  • You would hope the stranger you play as would be able to beat the shit out of Saveedro >.> But I guess not.. haha. Anyways, what happens if you trap saveedro between the two walls by shutting all the power off, then linking back to tomahna without grabbing Releeshan?

  • lol the part u run away and come back lol

  • The last one I don't take as a bad ending, I see it as a cold and guilty one

  • @Suntiandcrew Yep I agree but I wanted to show this one too and wouldn't make a video just for it. It's like a good but unhappy ending.

  • 2:55

    imagine a librarian doing this

  • A variaton you left out is if you trap him and then abandon him without getting the book back, but it's pretty much all the same.

  • lolol. I especially remember the first one.

  • 2:43 No, that's one of Atrus' sons. I know you're Saavedro.

  • Poor Savedro

  • @qwertyb17 Cause it's not the good ending, heh.

  • @Zoney1 You loose the game.

  • the saddest ending is when u leave saavedro to die

  • NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

  • Wow, for once you can actually take a linking book with you :P

Is there a special ending if you abandon Saavedro but don't get the book from him?

  • #7 always craked me up! XD

  • so basically, in the last ending shown here, Atrus is basically saying: Releeshahn has been safely returned to me, but at what cost? my friend, the protagonist whose name or face has never been revealed, just committed second degree murder against someone who, although his actions were far from justified, had honorable intentions.

  • why so serious?

  • Thank you for posting these and the walkthroughs. Really appreciate the work you put into it!

  • @runswithsoda Thank you for watching this :)

  • @ilikemario8 If you trap Saavedro between the two forceshields, I guess he'll die someday x)

  • @ilikemario8 No, but you meet Saavedro as he comes through it.

  • @ilikemario8 that is so not true, if someone steals my car and finally after persuit, he gives it back because he feels himself trapped, then he still is a criminal for stealing my car and he should be punished!

  • @FlippieX You can't compare Saavedro with a car stealer. The guy that steals your car doesn't usually do this because he's been separated from his home and family so many years by your sons fault.

  • @Pieuw So? that doesnt make up for him stealing, maybe it becomes understandable but that doesnt make it right. He committed a crime and he must be jugde. Even more Sirius and Achenar are not your sons, since you are just a stranger who found the myst linking book (bach in myst I). Yet he swears he will kill you if you dont help him. He is definite a criminal. and he should be punished

  • @FlippieX "Even more Sirius and Achenar are not your sons"

He stole the book from Atrus, Sirus and Achenar are his sons. I don't understand your point.

In the last bad ending he doesn't kill you or anyone else. So I don't think he deserves to be abandoned there.

And if he kills you he's trapped. That's the punishment.

  • @Pieuw So, what you are saying is that as long you have a bad history with some persons..it is ok to steal objects from their fathers and to threaten (with death) the friends of the father of your nemesis. Ok that is an interesting opinoin.

  • @FlippieX A "bad history ?"

Sirrus and Achenar caused a civil war in Narayan. Saavedro followed them in J'nanin and got trapped for 20 years. The man just wants Atrus (who clearly doesn't care) to save his Age.

Saavedro is desperate, a little crazy (20 years alone don't help), and didn't kill a single person (except in the bad endings, which makes him a criminal indeed).

Now either you don't want to understand or you just say that to annoy me... I don't want to debate about this for ages :)

  • @Pieuw yes, bad history, he has suffered, he has pain, still that doesnt plead you not-guilty for stealing a book and to threaten you with death. Im not anoying you, you just have different opinion, I think its wrong to not stand someone for its actions. Sure if atrus would have done everyone, maybe he should free him, but me, as only a friend of atrus and no indirect (or direct) guilt to what happened. I have full right to have him punished.

  • @FlippieX Okay then punish him, that will probably kill him or make him crazier which makes you a criminal too. You're not god or something...

A real good ending, is a good ending for everyone imo, but I understand you have a different opinion... Then it's pointless to continue this debate as we won't change our mind :p

  • @Pieuw yes, I've never done the ending where I leave him trapped, but have Releeshahn. Don't have the guts.

  • @Pieuw yeah :P, now I leave Tomaha on the holder in the chamber (so I dont take it into my inventory box), so as soon as I flip the switch upstairs and trap him, i cant leave him anymore ;)., because I have to 'get rid' out him before i can go through the linking book. That way I won't be temped

  • So what is wrong with the 5;30 ending. its not a bad ending, its an alternative good ending, you have the book, you are still alive and sevetro is punished for his crimininal actions.

  • @FlippieX Saavedro is a victim, not a criminal. And this ending isn't entirely good (Atrus clearly feels guilty about it).

But it's just my point of view :)

  • @Pieuw he is a victim, but the moment he stole that linking book and threatend to harm all those people inside, there he became a criminal

  • that saavedro dude looks like the lead singer for Strapping Young Lad.

  • "I can't do this again, I can't be chucky from childs play!!! NOOOOO!!!!"

  • kagennotuki0201 is saying

I hope you will be released in Japan ww

Beautiful picture. Once the movie looks interesting ^ ^

  • I know he cant kill you by hitting you with the book. but it sure can knock you out, in which he can then throw you off the ledge and into the water below.

  • To be honest, what does Atrus think Saavedro will find back home? Saavedro has been gone for 20 years. His wife would have to be Penelope to have never married another man in all those years, or she could be dead. His children are adults and he wasn't there to see them grow up. If his mind is as messed up as his journal suggests (hallucinations, amnesia, etc.), he probably won't be able to take the shock. He's also pretty violent when upset, as seen in the bad endings.

    I don't see a happy end.

  • @BenevolentMuffinKing Huh... That's a pretty interesting thought there. I hadn't considered that. That would be rather painful.

I guess the ending suggests he'll be all right. That's just what you feel as you watch him departing peacefully with the music playing...

  • He whacks you with the book and not the hammer. lol

  • I remember my dad playing this game, man the last bad ending is SO cruel!

  • I have the game but cannot do it lol is the Reelsham thingy some sort of bible?

  • @Kaitza2 No, it's a linking book that Atrus made to house the remaining D'ni. So that they can correct their past mistakes and begin anew. But Saavedro gets in the way of making that happen.

  • I had never seen the guilt scene after the end before.

  • Poor savvy.

  • I know. he is my favorite villain. although I have to ask, did you die in the game, or faint? O_O

  • Is there anyone who has posted the "good" endings?

  • Yea, me :p

  • @Xarfax321 And there is only one good ending.

  • Camera man must have had headache after all those hammer shots.

  • 0:28 it looks like Brad Dourif had a bit of a "Chucky" moment with that hammer

  • Saavedro hits you out of hell with his hammer!!!!

  • ending #8 is good, hitting him with the book seems so appropriate

  • LMAO 2:54 cause he hits you WITH THE BOOK! not so smart cause that alone can't kill a person.

  • Oh, Releeshan is a huge book with metal on it... :P

  • It probably stuns you enough for him to toss you off of the balcony.

  • @VenomEmperor Plus, for most of the endings, he loses his only help to getting home.

  • 2:56 THE IRONY!

about the last, I remember the guide:

"I have Releeshan and Saaveedro is trapped. can I leave?

    -Sure.

Saaveedro has been suffering for 20 years. He definitely deserves to be even more.

It would be interesting to see how he would cope. Knowing his family might still be alive, yet being unable to do anything about it.

So leave him here, trapped, forever.

    ...

    You heartless cad." lol

  • He'd just starve to death before long XD

  • I feel sorry for him myself. Poor guy :(

  • 日本でも発売してくれたらいいのにww

    綺麗な映像。映画になったら面白そう^^

  • Uh, english please ? :D

  • sorry,I am Japanese. I cant speake english・・・・I anderstund littele english

    I love Myst world andstory

    but・・・this geme japan is nothing

    thie is world beautiful!!

  • kagennotuki0201 said "I wish this game was sold in Japan. Beautiful images! It'll be nice if this game becomes a movie."

But I'm pretty sure it's sold in Japan too...

    (日本語版も中古で売ってると思いますけどね・・・)

btw, nice walkthrough. I used to play this game. :)

  • @Pieuw I wish to release in Japan ww

Nice video. Once the movie sounds interesting ^ ^

    loosely translated . . .

  • @Pieuw I wish to release in Japan ww

Nice video. Once the movie sounds interesting ^ ^

  • @Pieuw he said 'I wish to release in Japan ww

Nice video. Once the movie sounds interesting'

  • He has a little weak mallet thing, I could have killed him easily.

  • Yeah, the best ending is when you let him go after you get the book. This ending, you feel bad for him : (

  • Technically, the last one is the "good" ending :)

Thanks for the vids. There were like 2 of those I didn't know about.

  • No there is a better ending than that one. After Saveedro gives you the book, you switch the lever and then turn the power back on. He is able to go back to his family and you can return releeshan to Atrus.

  • I Think Saveedro Actually Killed Himself In This Ending You Dont See Him Hanging Out By The Gondola Anymore Since There Was No Were Else To Go You Gotta Assume He Took The Ole 'Plunge

  • hahaha! Saavedro looks like Dio!

  • Lol ! Indeed, there's a resemblance :P

  • He's pretty slow to attack, it sucks that you can't respond.

  • Hehe, it would be cool to push him over the edge. Saavedro skydiving ! :D

  • Im really slow but I've played this game and I thought Reelesha was a person.

    XD

  • Great video, thank you. I haven't played the game myself but I enjoyed watching this anyway

  • This game is a great experience (and so are the other Myst games). You should try it :P

  • lol

i laugh when he said no many times

  • Haha, me too.

    Poor Saavedro

  • Same :D

  • STOP hammer time

  • I felt sorry for Saavedro throughout this whole game. My first attempt at an ending was to believe him! Sure, he's nuts, and he's crazy with revenge, but is definatly a victim.

  • @AKVideography Same here. When I got some of the bad endings by accident I was like: I was trying to HELP you and then you repay my kindness by (destroying an entire remnant of a civilization) [or] (killing me?!) Real smart, reeeaaaaaaal smart. -3-

  • Yea, it IS bad. Saavedro is doomed and Atrus feels really bad :

"A heavy sorrow hangs over me"

"The anguish of decisions that were made must be carried with me forever"

There's only one TRUE good ending imo, because Saavedro is not really a bad guy. :p

  • Saavedro is not a bad guy? Ok let him kill you in the game then. That makes all endings good then lol.

  • No, he's not ! Read the other comments.

    Saavedro is a victim. :p

  • Here's what happened:

Saavedro tutored Atrus' sons on how to write ages, and they destroyed Naryan in the process, so Saavedro lost everything and blames Atrus, so Saavedro is the victim here and the sons are the bad guys.

  • as they always have been

  • If you went through the exact same treatment that he did, you would Kill the one who prevented you from freedom as well.

  • Myst is a great game

  • lol, the last one is bad, but you still get the book to Atrus. I love his "No, no, no, no no!" They crack me up!

  • Hmmmm, I still don't get how people can kill each other with books. Well, I guess that's what you call "throwing the book at someone." LOL

  • Lol

Releeshan is heavy. I think it's possible if Saavedro slogs you with the book :P

  • Maybe he knocks you out with it and then throws you off the balcony and you drown while out cold.

  • I can't get over how funny it is that he kills you with Releeshahn. It's just.... ridiculous XD

  • Actually, the weapon that Saavedro uses is a hammer or a small axe.

  • Yeah, it's a stone hammer, but if you go up to him three times, he loses his patience and kills you with the book.

  • Wow, Pieuw, how long did it take you to beat this game?

I think it would take me years to beat it.

  • I don't remember how long exactly, but I spent weeks on this game, exploring each Age from top to bottom and trying to get all the ending :D

  • I got this game when it first came out and beat it within 3 days.

I found this game gathering dust after all these years and decided to reinstall it. I beat it within half a day. It can't be considered cheating because I forgot all the solutions to the puzzles =p

  • Do you want a medal ? :p

  • Whoa!!! That's impressive!

  • It was the easiest Myst game, really. Perhaps the most impressive, though.

  • that 1st one was FREAKY

  • what happens if u get the book back and u open the inner shield and link back to atras what happens

  • Same ending as #4 :D

  • What happens if you trap Saavedro inside the two barriers, take the book from him, and then open the inside barrier?

  • It's the same ending as #3 (first video). (I guess) Because you have to go upstairs to open the barrier. :)

  • Ah, I see. Thanks!

  • It's hard for me to sit through the 7th ending because it's so tense. You better think twice before tempting Saavedro. He'll come after you someday and you'll be sorry.

  • One thing that bothers me though about the endings is that Brad tries too hard to not hit the camera. It's noticable at 2:55.

  • I see what you mean, for a split second he tends to hesitate slightly just before he swings the book at you.

  • i think he dont want to buy a new camera

  • Hmmm, now that I rewatched it, I actually think it's a bit sad about Savreedo. Even if he does have trouble with his temper :P

  • The ending where you abandon Saavedro, is REALLY bittersweet, kind of an ending that makes you feel like a horrible person you know. :/ Thank goodness there is an ending better than that one...

  • yeah, the good ending made me cry!! i was so happy! ^_^

  • LMAO He knocked you out with the book!!

  • he likes knocking people out doesnt he lol xxx

  • 2:03 - 2:10 that has got to be the worst ending!

  • Well, that last one... wasn't really a BAD ending... you just abandon Saveedro!

  • The right ending is a good ending for everyone :P The last ending is horrible for Saavedro and Atrus feels guilty.

  • Ah!

  • As Pieuw said, the intentions of Presto and the Miller brothers is that you rectify all the injustice done in the game. By leaving Saaveedro in Narayan, you work as judge, jury, executioner . . which is NOT why Atrus/Katran put their trust in you. Otheriwse, you'd have weapons at your ready instead of just books, right? Your role is Private investigator, and maybe bailiff.

  • Incredible. This game has a lot of endings.

  • Chrono Trigger has lots of endings too. 18 in total, if memory serves correctly.

  • Aren't they also making another one for Chrono Trigger DS?

  • Could be. I'm gonna find out once I own the game. :D

  • good job.

plans for Revelation or End of Ages? Some of the walkthroughs for those are LESS than satisfactory

  • Hmh Revelation maybe, but I don't have End of Ages ^^'

(Hmm I just noticed a mistake at the very begining of the video : Part 1/2... ops :p)

  • The worst ending ever D: -noes-

But I aggre, this has been a good run. Well done overall.

And Saavedro needs to work on his temper.
