  • It is so wonderful that Tony Benn never became leader of the Labour Party but Michael Foot did. I am glad that Foot passed in a register to track down these Militant vermin out, they were doing no good for the party including the National Executive Committee. Most of all why would a rich man like Tony Benn want to be soaked dry? And Scargill and the NUM despised these Militant scum all along, so Benn and his Militant chums were nothing but pure damageable untermenschen.

  • DEATH TO SOCIALISM

  • @hatinae Socialism comes in various forms. What needs to be smashed is Marxism!

  • LONG LIVE THATCHERISM

  • KNML

  • Such a shame the Militant got kicked out....We need solidarity with the coalition which makes up the Labour party. We need a democratic workers party who represent the masses not the business's,........Good God comrades we such a battle to re-shape the Labour and trade union movement!

  • The SP and others has said that the amount of funds held 'offshore' by individuals is about $11.5 trillion - so the amount lost every year in tax revenue (at current rates) on the income from these assets adds up to about $250 billion - five times what the World Bank estimated was needed to halve world poverty by 2015!

  • WOW, Tony Benn! I never knew that you were working class! I am sure that Tony Benn would not mind being taxed 99% since that was what the Militant (now SPEW!) was demanding. Oh and the miners rejected Militant as well including Arthur Scargill! Since he formed his own party the SLP which is totally different to SPEW!

  • Thanks for your interest, but you only signed off your name and forgot to make your comment. It is a good clip isn't it? It's good to be reminded of Labour Ministers who actually supported working class people rather than billionaire bankers. However if I were you I'd change your online name - wanker? I don't care what you do in front of your computer, but you shouldn't name yourself so acurately. All the best anyway, I'll try to find some more clips that will please you (but not in that way!)

  • wanker

  • Benn isn't a marxist. He talks the talk but that's about as far as it goes. All foam and no beer.

  • It is interesting that Arthur Scargill, an active Trade Union member of the Labour Party denounced the Militant Tendency himself! And still does as he runs the Socialist Labour Party whereas the Militant now runs the Socialist Party of England and Wales.

  • @NatDemUK That's because he was a full-blown Stalinist and hatred Trotskyists.

    As Monty Python said.

    Spilters!

  • Militant equals cancer, thats why the Labour leadership from this time have always seen their role as protecting the Party from the rank and file. This from an ex Militant activist. We were wrong and set back the labour Party by ten years allowing the Tories to do their worst.

  • @DermotRathbone the labour leadership were wrong not millitant. just look at labour now, its a joke.

  • @ADProtty at least they got elected.Unlike your socialist pigs

  • @aranterranting Whats the point in getting elected if you implement tory policies?

  • @ADProtty Policies which the vast majority of the people of this country agree with. Look at how many people vote Tory,Labour and Liberal combined. Then look at how many people vote for you lot old comerade.

  • @aranterranting Yes, well there is that well known phrase from Marx about the changing the world rather than interpreting it. The electoroal system as a product of a society run on capitalist economics is going to favour one that gets capitalist parties elected. The tasks for a marxist are to get the working class to overhtrow the system and that means getting involved in trade unions, community campaigns and also elections, but that is just one part of it. People change their opinion according

  • what is happening around them. For this reason it consciousness can change very rapidly from accepting a situation to full blown revolution. We can use Egypt as a good recent example of this. Mubaraks relection in January (ithink) didnt mean that people supported him as he was sent packing a few months later. and thats why you cant just interpret election results to be what people want. hope thats put in a clear way.

  • Commie scum.

  • So Scargill was a force for democracy and civil liberties. Reminds me how scary it was when people like Benn actually had power

  • Not only did they stop the poll tax but they buried Thatcher with it. Funny how those right wing anti-tax crusaders who love Thatcher don't know that she was brought down by a tax revolt. But then again it's not a real tax revolt if it doesn't serve to redistribute wealth upwards.

  • Check out ( JOHN MCCULLAGH "ILL DANCE ON YOUR GRAVE MRS THATCHER".........on youtube or myspace, well worth a listen

  • Looks like a Communist Party rally

  • Oh you've been to one then have you? How was it? You could say the political rallies of us candidates where every sentence gets a standing ovation looks like a communist party rally

  • all these meetings and rallies really worked didn't they.....

  • And then we die.

  • Now there is a statement by a man who obviously knows his own mind and can put into words. Just a shame that the view in question is bigoted, lacking in rationality and close minded in the extreme.

  • We stopped the poll tax...

    ... so there!

  • Lot of fucking good that did

  • And I stopped the spread of the vampire in 1644 but I never receive any thanks for it.

  • Excellent points there friend. Dont you think that these lefties are only happy when they are losing. They all seem to have a victim mentality.

  • You fascists are ignorant, unintellectual fuckwits whose ideals are inimical to my values of freedom, liberty, monarchism and minarchism, capitalism and the magic of a credit default swap.

  • I don't care about being intellectual. Humans shouldn't fight for freedom, they should fight for tyranny and control. Only the greatest men deserve freedom and weak men should live only to support them.

  • Spoken like a true socialist.

  • @Ricardo72 - channelling Ayn Rand there!

  • @Ricardo72

It is due to a continuous generational struggle for freedom that you are able to freely giving your opinions on a global stage. Your freedom is huge, many people in this world are prepared to give their lives for the freedom which you have just displayed, would you tell them to stop fighting for the rights you take for granted?

  • we are comeing back liverpool militants who the fuck killed trotskite the communists we got voted in by record turn outs new labour is fuckd give new labour over tory scum any day .

  • true, it's all a con.

  • the Labour Party was so weak at the time and Tony Benn was, and still is, such a significant member of the labour left, that the party could not throw him out and actually Lord Tebbitt implied that people should vote UKIP in the European Elections this year, he was not thrown out of the Conservatives.

Militant Tendency was not a political party, rather closer to a pressure group, the BNP is a political party, you cannot draw comparisons between the 2, as it is 2 completely different situations

  • The Militant changed their name to 'the socialist party of england and wales'.

They are a political party, and have a growing membership.

  • You're comparing Marxism with Nazism. There is no comparison with Benn attending a Militant meeting and a Tory attending a BNP meeting, because marxism is an economic ideology and Nazism/facism is an ideology that judges some people worthy of death due to their skin colour. No comparison.

  • @hugoegbert79 The BNP, while racist, isn't Nazi. I also wish people wouldn't use the term 'Fascist' to describe anything other than Mussolini's regime, as every regime is different. National Socialism was actually considered far-left; it was only because of Soviet propaganda that it was later considered right-wing. Hitler hated capitalism, religion, the old monarchy, while supporting social welfare and euthanasia. Even his anti-Semitism was based on Darwinism rather than Christianity.

  • @hugoegbert79 Also, Marx and Trotsky were self-hating Jews. Italian Fascism wasn't originally racist, with many Fascists being Jewish until Hitler forced Mussolini to get rid of them, while Spanish and Japanese 'fascists' actually saved Jewish lives, while admittedly being racist in other ways. The fact that many far-leftists openly associate with racist Muslim extremists is enough to label them racist themselves. Also, every leftist regime in history has been at least somewhat racist.

  • @hugoegbert79 It could be argued that Naziism is a form of fascism but it could never be argued that fascism is Naziism and can be nothing different

  • @hugoegbert79 The reds killed many more people than the fascists
