Sounds like a good lineup of modules. You may want to try the EG5 too if your looking for a different flavor of high gain. The VHT is a kicking power amp, so is the 2902. Another good option is the Randall rm250 which has midi switchable channels.
Nice playing but I hea rno difference in the EG3/4 and MHG - they sound the same but maybe a touch darker on the MHG. Seems like eaither can be EQed to sound like the other.
I do have an EG3/4 now but forget some things about the MHG. I recall I had cut issues with another guitarist in the band, although in the right scenario and the correct combination, it can exist in a band environment, just not as well as the EG5 - but that was too strident and stiff...too 80s.
I have been sick and not on many forums, just checked in with some friends here and there. Don't feel like myself. :(
I never get tired of listening to this. You're such a great player, and your tones are incredible. I still have my MHG. I know most like the EG5, but I prefer the MHG because it's more balanced to my ears. But they're both great.........
Mod 100 is no longer in production. You can find them occasionally used in the $2000-$2500 range. Modules range from $300-$400 depending on if single or dual channel.
WOW!! Amazing playing and what a beautiful tone you've got! i'm very impressed and i don't dole that comment out too often. This was the first time i've heard the egnater modules and my god do they sound great. What was your set up other than the guitar, i heard some delay and maybe a bit of reverb on the mods as well? Keep making more clips!!!
Set up was straight into amp and touch of delay and verb. One section had a little phaser/flange on it. All FX from a TC G Force run in the parallel loop.
The Egnater modular stuff just plain kills. I have never been happier with my sound.
You should dig the SC90's. They are a well designed and built guitar. Great alternative to a Les Paul or PRS and as you can hear, they sound great. Play like butta too.
KICK ASS playing shizz !!! .. and sweet tone ... I just ordered my SC90 ... should be in before Christmas !!! Would love to see that guitar in better lighting
I have to agree with Bluesbro', you're REALLY TALENTED! Great sense of melody and note choice. At least post some videos of your ideas on practicing for us mere club-fisted schleps:-)
You call this Wanking? You play like a god! Very Johnson influenced- also a little Joe Bonamassa perhaps...Both masters at their craft- and your playing is at the same calibre- unbelievable (you should be out on the road with those skills and THAT amp)
P.S. Are you self taught, lessons, music major or some convuluted mix? I'm trying to learn some Johnson licks myself any tips on any albums, scales riffs etc. to study?
Thanks! I am hardly on those guys level. I am mostly self taught but had the luck of having parents that were music educators and my father was a gigging musician for years.
As far as learning EJ, it's not easy. I only tried to borrow from him because the guy's talent is unreal. He solos alot in the pentatonic realm. Not so much notes as it is how he plays them.
You call this wanking?! You play like a god! Very Johnson influenced- also a little Joe Bonamassa perhaps? Both masters at their craft- and your playing is at the same calibre- unbelievable...
PS. Nice Amp- you should be out touring with that thing
PPS. Are you self taught, lessons, music major or some convuluted mix?
The Egnater is hand wired as well. I've compared it side by side to: Diezel Herbert, Bogner XTC, Suhr OD100, and Splawn Quickrod. The Egnater has the advantage of it's modular design. To my ears the Egnater is the best I've heard or played. It also has the distinct advantage of it's modular design. You decide what tones you want.
actually the splawn quickrod isnt really in this category its more in the Bogner shiva category as opposed to the bogner xtc but the diezel herbert (way overpriced) and the Suhr od100 are similar but the splawn quickrod is more like abogner shiva
I have the Randall RM100 as well. The 2 are different as the Egnater has all top shelf components and is hand built. Overall though the Randall is very similar. The RM100 comes across as a more aggressive amp to me, but that may be due to the tubes I'm running in it.
I have been considering getting an Egnater Mod 50 head and your video helped but my problem is that I cannot decide if I like the mhg or eg3/4? lol I am thinking DLX & EG3/4 (or) ModernHighGain
I have a MOD 100 too - great amp. My modules are: DLX, T/D, VX, BMan and SL2. I think I need the MHG now after seeing this! Great playing. Post more please!
Nice playing! I've played a few Carvin's and was impressed. It seems that these guitars are sleepers and very underrated .

Wicked playing !!! I have a bunch of Carvin gear and love it all .. 4 guitars , 2 basses ..etc
Would like to see that guitar though .. I have an SC90 also .. love it !!!

Mahogany body and neck, quilted maple top, ebony FB,. Stop bridge. Pretty straight forward axe with a little more bite in the upper mids than an LP.

The MHG module sounds outrageous! i love Egnater man - he knows what's going on, and knows how to get ALL the tones guitarists are looking for.
Congrats on a beautiful amp!

The 2nd section reminds me of Eric Johnson in a serious way.

Thanks

Hands down the Egnater gives you the most felxibility with the modular design.

Hello,
You seem to have tried many amp.
Have you tried too the VHT GP3 ??
I don't know which preamp to buy between VHT GP3, CAE3+SE, and Egnater ?
Gremlins4u 4 years ago
I vastly prefer my Egnater IE-4 and M4 over the CAE 3+ I used to own. I haven't played the GP3.

EG3/4 is more smooth while MHG is more "chewy" and strident. All depends on the music your playing.
shizznizzle 4 years ago
I play hard rock/thrash metal ala megadeth, metallica, ozzy, pantera etc etc. I am thinking mod 100 too if i cannot decide lol
