Header leak? nice ride though : ) glad to see guys throwing Chevy small blacks under the hoods of uber light cars...thats the definition of hot rodding
@noxi it was running good but then I had to pull the engine because I blew the seal on my hydraulic throw out bearing and the trans could not be pulled with out removing the engine, I have fixed that by further modifying the firewall,
it is not driving now though because I am making it street legal so the engine change will be legal in cali.
fuel injection, wiring, smog equipment, etc.
once passed the turbo is going back on with the fuel injection so it will be even better.
My clutch was not disengaging properly so when i shifted with at higher rpm the gears were grinding,
at 4500 rpm the gears were grinding. got a full hydraulic set up and did not know that the front of vehicle has to be higher that the rear to properly lead a hydraulic throwout bearing. from listening to me talk like a moron there was a lot of crap I was not aware of at that time , live and learn.
Nice 240 and good taste on body, just put an LS1 n mine. Wish somebody would say somethin stupid about it. You don't need 2 get rid of the wing that other guy needs 2 get rid of that P.O.S. eclipse.
Nice car, and I like your taste in the body work. You don't need 2 get rid of the wing the other guy needs 2 get rid of the eclipse (biggest P.O.S. cars ever made, yes i hate em). If these haters only new how much work it is they wouldn't talk so much garbage. People hate on my 97 240 or break their neck tryin 2 get a look as they ride by.
Dont worry about the bull$shit others talk about man, takes an machinist to come up with different ideas to come up with their own design of how they want their car to come out in the end. So what if you mix mustang wheels on it, who cares what you drop in as a motor either, some think the bigger the motor the better, some think Jap cars need to stick with Jap motors, but its all what the driver wants. So for those talking junk about how an unfinished car looks, shove off, post yours, lets judge

From what i read you should go for splayed caps and a maybe even a half fill of hard blok if you go much over 600. I see splayed billet caps for small mains on ebay sometimes, they go really cheap.
y did you move the firewall back? was it in the way of something that prevented the build?
sorry for all the questions.. like i said before i've done this build but only the v8 swap not a v8 swap with a FI setup..
honestly i thought at first that i didn't like the bodykit but now it's grown on me, especially the hood - it looks mean as hell. i imagine that you got the hood from summit but where did the body kit come from??
the body kit is a b-magic wide body kit. the carbon fiber hood is a tcsportline and the scoop I built. the sccop is not finished, going to use current one to make a mold to lay carbonfiber in.
I wanted the oil pan sump to sit behind the steering rack, wanted the motor shifted back for weight with the engine in this location the shifter from my TKO500 trans is centered in the oem location. firewall was cut because it was in the way. reinforced it with L angle steel and rectangular steel.
the hood unfortunately had to be that high to clear the carb hat. was using vic Jr intake with holley double pumper race carb, and a low profile procharger carbhat. hood cleared the carbhat by less than an inch. now with the tpi setup I barely need a bump in the hood. gonna finish off the cowl in the carbon fiber and bond it to the hood though. The size grew on me and I spent days building and hand shaping the scoop so i kind of want to use it now.
what swap kit did you use or did you fabricate it?
a couple of website have swap kits for chevy motors into 240's. Just wondering if the 327 has the engine mounts as a ls motor. I know that they are pretty much from the same engine family but i wasn't sure if they lined up the same. thanks and nice video, the car sounds great.
1.how much did you spend in total at the end more or less?
2.how much power were you making before and after the turbo?
just curious cause i have done a few ls1/ls2 swaps into 240sx's and flipped them to build the next one. I got the swap kits from a couple of different websites that have been really helpful. keep up the great work.
The motor was built to be turbocahrged so it has never been driven without the turbo. Due to the lower compression and the cam I was told it would run 350 to 400 without the turbo by the engine builders. when last was driven only running 5psi at the carbhat. had not turned up the MBC yet. cost was a little under 2gs on turbo setup.
I told the shop who built my engine that I would run 8-10psi of boost. with a 72cc chamber and .06 thick cometic head gasket I got 9.3. they recommended afr 75cc chamber heads I went with 72cc dart heads and the guy I bought them from ported them a touch to about 74.
considering the low boost, msd 6btm ignition(boost referenced retard), and now the electronically controled spark advance from the 91 firebird I think this will be an overall good setup.
that's interesting that the wild-wood master cylinder gave you problems a guy i help with his limited sportsman circle track car had the same problem and wild-wood gave him another master cylinder.
they told me I would need to send it in to have them check it to see if it was caused by an incorrect rod angle. would cause scraping on the inside of bore . mine was also over the warranty this build took quite some time and I thought I did not have time to wait. had a meeting with a smog ref.
how ever the hood is not done the cowl is going to be used as a plug to make a carbonfiger version to rivet to the hood. even still has masking tape on the lip that bolts down to not scratch hood.:) I built the wing as well.
"Yeah, that's my car." lol. Cute.

The bov was sharing an 1/8 vacuum source with a few other things,
bov has a 1/4 in port.
I tapped the vc jr manifold for a 3/8 port and ran just to power brakes and BOV
and surging went away.
after that it would open if I rev'd it to a couple rpms in neutral.
surging gone.
before this I was having idle problems because the extra air was not leaving under low load conditions and the idle was staying high.
divineserpent 11 months ago
hm. what BOV are you running. sounds like youve got a bit of surge. are you recirc or vent to atmosphere.

Nice, the 327 kicks ass. Most people go 400 with a forged sbc. Is it a small journal?

thanks.
yeah, small journal.
only problem is the two bolt mains.
I knew nothing about engines when I started this build.
It is blueprinted and balanced, was sonic tested , torque plate honed ,
arp main stud kit. I was shooting for about 750,
not going to push it past 600hp though.
all bolts are ARP

I built everything.
I used a universal motor mount for a sbc that welds to the frame rails.
you can buy twin turbo kits for a sbc for pretty cheap but they are going to be chinese parts(not japanese or american).
I used a gt45 chinese made turbo and had the cheap internals replaced with real garret parts.
turbo about 200-300 on ebay , upgrade cost me 225.
