Yeah, this was perhaps one of their worst concerts imo, to the extent that Kyo apologised on twitter after about how bad it was.

The rest of the tour was very good from what i've seen.

@hdlvalentez It was mixed :3 There were lots of people in the beginning, but lots of them left while their performing. I mean, most of the people there are listening to Heavy or Black Metal, so they didn´t like it. But I think there were surprisingly much watching their whole show. Think they were all a bit confused, cuz they didn´t know dir en grey, but some liked them ;) But me and about 5 other people wre the only ones really headbanging to it xD

CONCEIVED SORROWS is a wonderful song but they shouldn't really play it on festival like this. This song is the type of song that requires some time and a lot of reflection too really appreciate, which is not the case of a festival for metalheads.

I understand what JapaneseModernist is saying its kinda awkward to play this song after playing different sense lol. A lot of people that go to Wacken aren't really open to dir en grey type of music from what i see during the Wacken lives. But in the end some like it and head bang and some don't.

@JapaneseModernist That's kinda a harsh comment don't you think? I've always seen heavy metal music as a distinct art form, especially when compared to most contemporary pop artists. By art form, I mean they write and compose songs for the sake of themselves, not to appeal to a mainstream audience. If they want to play CONCIEVED SORROW in a metal concert, then they by all means should. And besides, not all so-called metalheads are dense enough to not be able to appreciate such a wonderful song.

Also, to say that Dir en grey is not the band for a metal festival, are you serious? Have you seen the rest of their songs? Different sense, Hageshisa, ASOM? Those are pretty heavy songs

@JapaneseModernist I know this was months ago you made this comment, but honestly...no one in that crowd boo'ed them or gave them the finger. Everyone there for the most part clapped and cheered after that song ended, so give the Wacken metalheads some credit for enjoying a song like that. No one seemed to mind a break from the chaotic setlist.

Still, when you have only 1 hour to show what you really are, even though CONCEIVED SORROW is a fantastic song and fits them perfectly, you have to understand that the festival is full of people that appreciate (mostly only) heavy and fast music so DIR EN GREY should take the chance and prove that they can do that too. Of course the rest of the setlist was like that but still, conceived sorrow is too intense for a festival

@JapaneseModernist I think the europeans/metalheads there finally appreciate Dir en grey now. They had a rough beginning in 05-06 when they first appeared in Europe, but I think now, they respect and admire the band. There are so many bands that have a one track mind, and here comes Dir en grey which defies and challenges their one track ways and goes all over the place, but still remaining in the realm of metal. That shows intelligence and diversity which is what the genre needs so badly.

DIR EN GREY is seen with a lot of prejudice by most people because of their look and nationality and even though there are a few people on the festival who can appreciate that kind of songs, unfortunately the majority only appreciate heavy and screamy songs. Actually, What I said should not be followed by them. DIR EN GREY must be themselves regardless of which concert

However,as I said, they are in disadvantage point (even though I don't think they care) and when they are given the amazing oportunity of playing in such a huge festival, they should take the chance and make the most out of it (as far as making new fans is concerned). They have beautiful ballads but they are still mostly hard and screamy metal so they should make that very clear. I'm sure they did it though
