  • Great playing! But i hate the Schecter guitar!

  • should this recommended for A7X?

  • @mastaflowNL Hmm... No.. Try with BOSS Metal Core or Metal Zone!

  • @SenthysizzerYeah those pedals are so much harder to work with though

  • @emoboi311 WHAT?

  • @SenthysizzerYeah the metalzone is kind of hard to work with considering it has alittle more controls and has two mids. the boss sd-1 is a good pedal. it is solid tone it doesn't get muddy at high volume settings like the shitty metalzone. i have the metalzone and it's too much.

  • this is a pedal that i dont think you should buy if youre a beginner and only have something like a tiny 15 watt amp, it will sound better on a good tube amp. plus hes gotta be using a noise gate or suppressor with this because i have this pedal and it makes ALOT of noise when you turn the gain up.

  • I own one, and although it has lots and lots of gain, I wouldn't call it a metal distortion. it's to warm for metal. but its great for grunge and noisy rock styles its a fantastic pedal. When you put a boss sd-1 in front of and md-2 you'll have a great metal drive. The sd-1 can boost the md-2 with the needed treble.

  • Would you recomemd this for metallica and Maiden?

  • this is perfect for hardcore punk

  • should i get this or digitech death metal? I'm looking for an extreme distortion sound but i don't know which one would be best

  • I want to smash the computer when i always hear the sentence : how it sounds out of the box.

  • Hi this is Jason Spencer with World Music Suppllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy

  • I bought mine to try to imitate the apatite for destruction tone....i bought the wrooooong pedal, but i still love it!

  • This is best of the Boss's distortion pedals.

  • That is the worst pedal ever... That or his amp is one of those pocket 5 - 10 watt peices of practice shite!

  • My MD-2 is not working, what should i do? I was powering it with a visual sound 1 spot power adapter.

  • texugo

  • What's the difference between this and a big muff sound-wise?

  • @BnHwrd A Big Muff sounds like a Big Muff, whereas this does not.

    This isn't a fuzz pedal.

  • @BnHwrd the difference is the electro harmonix guy peter stroud does better demonstrations

  • music that he plays at 0:54??? does anybody know??

  • @Niggatome It's just a riff dude, thousands of songs use that riff. Unless you maybe think it sounds similar to 718 by 2 skinny j's

  • music that he plays at 0:54

  • @renesebasgg oh my god if you want to play punk, this pedal is the worst same , you have to plug the amp in the crunch and fuck the rest!!!! this pedal is wonderful but to play music!!!!

  • @emerson76131 the pedal kurt used as a joke was thegrunge pedal cause he thought it was an insult to his music (he had a huge ego)

but still it cant be that bad i mean the melvins use it sometimes and the melvins are nirvana´s father

if it wasnt for king buzzo kurt would have killed himself before he got to 21

  • Ok, for playing loud grunge type music, what pedal should i go for? Ds-1, Ds-2, or Md-2???

  • @Downirvana a digitech grunge

  • @Downirvana A DOD Grunge.

  • @TheMandusa He never used that, he only had it as a joke. Iv'e also heard that he threw it in to the crowd ones but it's not sure.

  • @Downirvana DS 1

  • @Downirvana Kurt cobain used it( he also used the ds 2) but mainly ds 1

  • @Downirvana Ds 1 or Ds 2 will get the job done, i just sold my md 2 because it will just produce a plastic mess on anything less than a great tube amp.

  • in 2:21 i remember the vibrato John Frusciante live at Slane Castle... :D

  • i hate when people just cant get a good sound from a good pedal

  • believe it or not i use one for rockabilly and psychobilly....

  • For rhythm guitar, I'm really not a huge fan of this pedal; I prefer the Digitech TL-2 instead... The power chords sound so close to a Mesa.

Personally, I feel that where the MD-2 shines is for lead guitar; 2:10 is a perfect example how well this pedal does with single notes.

  • He is from The Smacking Lips Band yehhhhhh

  • @renesebasgg What did you expect from a pedal called the Mega Distortion? If you want Punk distortion just buy a shitty Solid State amp and crank the gain

  • Its good, but it needs an AMT ss11 preamp, really.

  • Stop smacking your lips!

  • That has to be the ugliest color for a pedal, ever.

  • @renesebasgg of course dude... this isn't made for ''punk'' and ''pop'', its made for the real METAL and hardcore stuff dude, and if you don't want it, just sell it on eBay :)

  • @NRPBproductions have you tried to real the manual that came with it? ;)

  • sound like shit

  • @ihaveaverybadcold

how does it sound like shit? what do you suggest then?

  • @vinnieIbz depends on what kind of music....tell me your influences and i might can help you out

  • @ihaveaverybadcold

Well I want something which can really get some strong distortion like the MD-2 but i do want something which can calm down into a distorted sound which is good for like hendrix, Chili Peppers, John Mayer, The Kooks even the wombats that kind of sound

  • @vinnieIbz for hendrix type distortion some type of fuzz pedal... /watchv=WeoWIOoWRxU&feature=related ...he used the big muff fuzz but the one in the vid is really good too...i personally have the fulltone ocd it cleans up well when you play soft and gets distorted when played hard i love that pedal...and its really great for blues...also check out the "mxr 78 bad ass"...also check out videos called "Distortion Pedal Shootout" its a side by side comparisons...anyways hope this helps

  • @vinnieIbz hey for some reason the link i posted didnt work....so just youtube search "Vintage Fender Twin Reverb Cranked! tubes breaking up with Fuzz Face"

  • @vinnieIbz it definitely sounds like shit next to a big muff. I'd personally recommend the tone wicker version.

  • the clean style sounded good but when he turned it on, it sounded like metallica having secks with MJ

  • this motherfucker sucks at palm mutting

  • @8GVirus This guy is the Dark Lord of guitar. How could you make such a negative comment of this virtuoso?

  • @andrewvanrhoberts haahhaha nad i thought he was the king of guitar :)))))))))))))

  • @8GVirus I own one of these pedals, and palm muting doesn't exactly come through clearly when you use it.

  • @8GVirus Especially when you're not using high-output pickups. Higher output pickups sound better with it, though.

  • this video and worldmusicsupply sucks worst than justin feat rebecca... yeah im sure

  • dude this thing is awesome! i got it a couple days ago and its sick, works great for metal

  • the Mega Distortion and Boss Noise Suppressor is the best stomp box combo ever

  • @jake9308 dude...how well will the md2 work if I dont have a noise suppressor?I play hard rock to nu-metal music...

  • I hate the way he say "a little bit" it so ugh hicky type

  • i dont wanna hear solo stuff. i want to hear what this sounds like with some chugs.

  • Cool pedal

  • i just got one of these but when i push the dist. and gain boost past 12 o'clock i get so much background hum. you didn't get that when you cranked them both. how come?

  • @simonate1 propably a noisegate mate...

  • Does it work well with a bass guitar?

  • I hear these pedals do really good distortion with 7-string guitars, or are there better ones? I'm trying to get a John Petrucci type sound, but I'm not sure what to go with. Any tips?

  • dude you suck

  • Got this pedal. Sounds fantastic with a Telecaster into a clean amp. Not so happy with the sounds out of a Cort TD250 though. A few posters ask for metal sounds. Remember a lot of bands, like Metallica for instance, do double or even triple tracking to fatten up the sound. Not to mention very precise EQ and compression.

  • trash

  • play metal bitch !

  • cant hear the pick hitting the string at all... i dont like that

  • Cool!!!!!!!! Bill Gates explains me how guitar effects work! :-)

  • @pk1001 John Johnson

  • @pk1001 No, i didn't come to explain you

  • WorldMusicSupply demos always SUCK!

  • what pedal would do better for really fat chunky metal... this or the metalzone MT-2 ?

  • timber? timber? TIMBER?? WHAT THE FUCK IS HE TALKING ABOUT I didn't know BOSS made there pedals out of trees :P

  • @guitarsoulbrotha I think he meant how woody guitar sounds. You see there are basically 2 camps, sintethic sound anw woody sound

  • he always plays the same chords for the clean tone in the beginning

to him, variety is a foreign word

  • @renesebasgg well which do you want to sound like? they all sound different

  • Dude the (mild distortion) on this seems to kill my ds1

  • I have a Schecter Omen-6. Does anyone know what pedal would be best for the Avenged Sevenfold sound?

  • @MonsterMusicCovers metalzone

  • @thatguy13346 Thanks!

  • @MonsterMusicCovers Yo the effects that synyster gates uses, as far as overdrive pedals, are the MXR Wylde Overdrive, and the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive. I'm pretty sure his distortion comes from his amp, no pedal cause he didn't showcase any distortion pedals on his gear rig, just overdrive pedals. Hope that helps.

  • @renesebasgg im looking for the same thing but this distortion sounds ok tho

  • @renesebasgg I just got the Boss St 2 and it works for all of this.

  • This pedal i don't know, kind of sucks, my amp distortion is better

  • I JUST BOUGHT IT TODAY... ITS AWESOME !

  • I'm sure most people here just want to see how well it does for metal...

  • @Angryification you got that right bud

  • @Angryification does great for metal

  • Don't buy that fucking pedal. It sucks. Or buy it with a noise suppressor, because is very very very very very very (1765167557615 times) noisy.

  • what's the guitar the guy's using?

  • уныло

  • What's the difference between the Distortion knob and the Gain Boost knob, please?

  • i hate this guy !!! plays one damn lick alwayss !!!

  • 1:29 it sounds like a mix of godsmack and children of bodom and a lil pantera??

  • try on bass

  • I own one :D

  • I like rugs.

  • Jason Spencer again???? D':

  • Comment removed

  • i like Line-6 more than Marshall

  • HEY... can anyone answer me? i got a Jackson JS30KE and a Laney LX35 (35 watt) amp... im playing metal mostly... would this pedal sound good with this combination?

  • second worst pedal ever first place goes to the metal zone

  • @munchy040 That depends in what scenario I know a guy whos Mt-2 sound like crap On the other hand at the music shop when i had a bit of time on it it sounded pretty nice.

Its all about the settings, Plus if you got an eq pedal its a completely different game.

I havent found "My Tone" yet but im still searching

  • @13isaacz1 diezel vh4

  • mine has a loud buzzing noise idk why

  • @dyingtolive4 Switch pickups if you have single coils in there now.

  • @nstermn2 na i got a schecter synyster gates custom

  • @nstermn2 I don't personally like schecter, but if that's what floats your boat...

  • they sure do :D my md-2 sits in my house in it's box really didn't like the tone on it.

  • how to make that distorted harmonics

  • anyone else think ds1's sound better

  • ...I know: 'Dirty Boulevard'!

  • Clean tone at the beginning reminded me of Lou Reed....

  • apparently it changes color too

  • This is a response to garthplinko:

Ive seen people that use fender stratocasters that sound better than some people that use gibson sg customs. yes, your set up is a crucial part of your performance, but, that, under no circumstances puts you above anyone else. skill>gear

  • @Sigmafy i think strats and other single coil guitars will sound better with high gain pedals.. a lot of humbuckers like this one are way too muddy. brighter sounding guitars/pickups, or like you said, a better set up would give a better tone.

  • i have nothing against this guy

  • i hate that guy

  • that pedal sucks

  • @SuperCrazyJunk that sound is called a pinch harmonic

  • whats it called when u make that wehwehweh noise @ 2:06

  • @SuperCrazyJunk harmonic scream...

  • @SuperCrazyJunk

More like someone who can't play guitar

  • Is this guy doing the demo with the guitar's NECK pickups?! He may as well pour pudding on the strings. I noticed he doesn't try to palm mute much in the demo, because it sounded like puding strings. Maybe it's just me, but I give every potential pedal the "chug" test. I want to hear kga kga kga..not gwff gwff gwff or at least know that I have that option.

  • Lol @ these demos...my standards are way too high after watching PGS's demos.

  • i bought it

it rocks :DDD realy cool pedal if you wanna play metal or rock

  • @DUBIEL1025 I already bought my distortion pedal and if you want much more quality and sounds to produce and change buy the BOSS metal zone

  • the distortion on my line 6 amp sounds better then this.

  • Anyone tried this with a boost? SD-1 or a screamer or similar?

  • Hey maby this will be alot cooler if this guy learns how to play

  • this isnt the full capabilities of the pedal.belphegor use this pedal on albums bondage goat zombie, pestapokolapse.lucifer incestus.

  • wich one is better Boss Metal zone or this one? please i cant decide help

  • @HeheShutUp121 go with the metal zone if you want to play metal, i have one and for the price, its very good!

  • I have this same pedal. Best investment ever

  • sounds like a very heavy sounding pedal ima gonna get me one!

  • can someone tell me a good distortion pad for heavy metal? Bands heavy tones etc... thansk

  • @jawazitaly1991 boss metalzone 2 with that one you can make alot of different heavy distortion tones;)

  • Stop saying certain displayers suck The abilty to fully show what an effect would would take 40+ minutes and countless hours of practice

  • md-2 is a very good distortion pedal

  • ive played friends MD-2's and they sounded awesome, so im thinking of getting one, are there any good mods for this? just incase its too tinny sounding, its gotta be better than the uber metal i have

  • Much better pick attack than the MT-2. Not bad at all.

  • Doug Heffernan has improved!

  • @TomDGW dude don't diss doug, by even comparing him to this tool spencer

  • wow you suck. i play 20 times better.

  • @woodzballer08 you say thats just because hes fat

  • @woodzballer08 you say that just because hes fat

  • You all need to understand that pedals are only going to sound as good as the guitar that's plugged into it and the amp it's plugged into it. You can't expect any pedal to make your First Act guitar and amp pack sound like a Les Paul into a Marshall.

  • @garthplinko ahahha truth.

  • @garthplinko yes but this is a business ,they dont really care, they just want to see your wallet.

  • @garthplinko it makes my squier stratocaster and hartke 15 watt amp sound much better than they used to

  • @thenin10dowiiaccount I don't doubt that it does sound better. But I'd think it'd sound even better yet if your Squire had some upgraded pickups and then it were plugged into a good tube head w/ 4x12 cabinet with good speakers.

My point was directed at the eariler posts that weren't realistic expectations - NO pedal I've seen will turn a practice amp into a full stack (of course Boss CLAIMS their new Power Stack PW-2 does exactly that...) but it isn't necessarily going to hurt either.

  • @thenin10dowiiaccount I'm not sure if I repsonded to this or not, but I agree w/ you - the comment was based on much, much earlier posts. I'm sure it's not going to HURT a First Act guitar plugged into a 15 watt amp. But it's not going to make it sound like a half-stack either.

  • @thenin10dowiiaccount ewwwww a squier lol. My first hate as a kid.

  • @CalisCool Squires are a lot better than they used to be. They are a very good for the $120 you pay.

  • @garthplinko

UR rite it would probably sound a lot better than a les pauls!

    lol Jk

  • exactly

  • @garthplinko Les Paul sucks balls...

  • @thesantiso Oh? I'm sure you'd rather have a First Act guitar? That was my only point. Would you be happier if I said "You can't expect any pedal to make your $150 starter guitar/amp pack sound like a $1500 guitar plugged into a $1000 half stack." This video is about the PEDAL. It's not about Les Pauls or even if you like/dislike the guy playing or what he plays. So many trolls on these comments - sad, really.

  • @garthplinko maybe 15 years ago. you can sound like SRV with a fender 5 watt tube amp for like 99 bucks as long as you got a strat and stomp a ibanez tubescreamer or a boss blues driver. then stomp a boss metalcore pedal and your playing death metal

  • @DUBIEL1025 uh dude i have this pedal and it sounds almost identical to what i hear when i play it maybe your amp is shit.

  • yo shutup these guys are total imporv they're great for who they are and what they wanna play so stfu or dont watch

  • THAT ISN'T REALLY MEGA DISDTORTION IS IT...

  • Is this pedal worth of buying? I really can't say anything on this vid. Customer reviews I read were everything between perfect and miserable

  • @jappe3000 how about just going to a music store and trying it out? That's what all us other people who aren't complete idiots do.

  • @MarcBeckK Do you think I havent considered that option :S I live in a small town, and my local music store is so crappy it has only few boss multieffects. I guess I have to travel 50 miles to nearest proper music store. Thank you for bothering to reply

  • @jappe3000 well I travel an hour everytime I'm trying out new gear. It's pretty much necessary. Because it never sounds the same in videos as it does with your guitar and amp. And style of play for that matter.
