@SenthysizzerYeah the metalzone is kind of hard to work with considering it has alittle more controls and has two mids. the boss sd-1 is a good pedal. it is solid tone it doesn't get muddy at high volume settings like the shitty metalzone. i have the metalzone and it's too much.
this is a pedal that i dont think you should buy if youre a beginner and only have something like a tiny 15 watt amp, it will sound better on a good tube amp. plus hes gotta be using a noise gate or suppressor with this because i have this pedal and it makes ALOT of noise when you turn the gain up.
I own one, and although it has lots and lots of gain, I wouldn't call it a metal distortion. it's to warm for metal. but its great for grunge and noisy rock styles its a fantastic pedal. When you put a boss sd-1 in front of and md-2 you'll have a great metal drive. The sd-1 can boost the md-2 with the needed treble.
@renesebasgg oh my god if you want to play punk, this pedal is the worst same , you have to plug the amp in the crunch and fuck the rest!!!! this pedal is wonderful but to play music!!!!
@Downirvana Ds 1 or Ds 2 will get the job done, i just sold my md 2 because it will just produce a plastic mess on anything less than a great tube amp.
@renesebasgg What did you expect from a pedal called the Mega Distortion? If you want Punk distortion just buy a shitty Solid State amp and crank the gain
@renesebasgg of course dude... this isn't made for ''punk'' and ''pop'', its made for the real METAL and hardcore stuff dude, and if you don't want it, just sell it on eBay :)
Well I want something which can really get some strong distortion like the MD-2 but i do want something which can calm down into a distorted sound which is good for like hendrix, Chili Peppers, John Mayer, The Kooks even the wombats that kind of sound
@vinnieIbz for hendrix type distortion some type of fuzz pedal... /watchv=WeoWIOoWRxU&feature=related ...he used the big muff fuzz but the one in the vid is really good too...i personally have the fulltone ocd it cleans up well when you play soft and gets distorted when played hard i love that pedal...and its really great for blues...also check out the "mxr 78 bad ass"...also check out videos called "Distortion Pedal Shootout" its a side by side comparisons...anyways hope this helps
@vinnieIbz hey for some reason the link i posted didnt work....so just youtube search "Vintage Fender Twin Reverb Cranked! tubes breaking up with Fuzz Face"
i just got one of these but when i push the dist. and gain boost past 12 o'clock i get so much background hum. you didn't get that when you cranked them both. how come?
I hear these pedals do really good distortion with 7-string guitars, or are there better ones? I'm trying to get a John Petrucci type sound, but I'm not sure what to go with. Any tips?
Got this pedal. Sounds fantastic with a Telecaster into a clean amp. Not so happy with the sounds out of a Cort TD250 though. A few posters ask for metal sounds. Remember a lot of bands, like Metallica for instance, do double or even triple tracking to fatten up the sound. Not to mention very precise EQ and compression.
@MonsterMusicCovers Yo the effects that synyster gates uses, as far as overdrive pedals, are the MXR Wylde Overdrive, and the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive. I'm pretty sure his distortion comes from his amp, no pedal cause he didn't showcase any distortion pedals on his gear rig, just overdrive pedals. Hope that helps.
ever have questions about your pedals like how to get that sound you want, what to use to mad your pedal, or even how a chorus is different from a flange? the Junkie is the one to ask!! "Like" the pedal junkie today!!
HEY... can anyone answer me? i got a Jackson JS30KE and a Laney LX35 (35 watt) amp... im playing metal mostly... would this pedal sound good with this combination?
@munchy040 That depends in what scenario I know a guy whos Mt-2 sound like crap On the other hand at the music shop when i had a bit of time on it it sounded pretty nice.
Its all about the settings, Plus if you got an eq pedal its a completely different game.
I havent found "My Tone" yet but im still searching
Ive seen people that use fender stratocasters that sound better than some people that use gibson sg customs. yes, your set up is a crucial part of your performance, but, that, under no circumstances puts you above anyone else. skill>gear
@Sigmafy i think strats and other single coil guitars will sound better with high gain pedals.. a lot of humbuckers like this one are way too muddy. brighter sounding guitars/pickups, or like you said, a better set up would give a better tone.
Is this guy doing the demo with the guitar's NECK pickups?! He may as well pour pudding on the strings. I noticed he doesn't try to palm mute much in the demo, because it sounded like puding strings. Maybe it's just me, but I give every potential pedal the "chug" test. I want to hear kga kga kga..not gwff gwff gwff or at least know that I have that option.
ive played friends MD-2's and they sounded awesome, so im thinking of getting one, are there any good mods for this? just incase its too tinny sounding, its gotta be better than the uber metal i have
You all need to understand that pedals are only going to sound as good as the guitar that's plugged into it and the amp it's plugged into it. You can't expect any pedal to make your First Act guitar and amp pack sound like a Les Paul into a Marshall.
@thenin10dowiiaccount I don't doubt that it does sound better. But I'd think it'd sound even better yet if your Squire had some upgraded pickups and then it were plugged into a good tube head w/ 4x12 cabinet with good speakers.
My point was directed at the eariler posts that weren't realistic expectations - NO pedal I've seen will turn a practice amp into a full stack (of course Boss CLAIMS their new Power Stack PW-2 does exactly that...) but it isn't necessarily going to hurt either.
@thenin10dowiiaccount I'm not sure if I repsonded to this or not, but I agree w/ you - the comment was based on much, much earlier posts. I'm sure it's not going to HURT a First Act guitar plugged into a 15 watt amp. But it's not going to make it sound like a half-stack either.
@thesantiso Oh? I'm sure you'd rather have a First Act guitar? That was my only point. Would you be happier if I said "You can't expect any pedal to make your $150 starter guitar/amp pack sound like a $1500 guitar plugged into a $1000 half stack." This video is about the PEDAL. It's not about Les Pauls or even if you like/dislike the guy playing or what he plays. So many trolls on these comments - sad, really.
@garthplinko maybe 15 years ago. you can sound like SRV with a fender 5 watt tube amp for like 99 bucks as long as you got a strat and stomp a ibanez tubescreamer or a boss blues driver. then stomp a boss metalcore pedal and your playing death metal
@MarcBeckK Do you think I havent considered that option :S I live in a small town, and my local music store is so crappy it has only few boss multieffects. I guess I have to travel 50 miles to nearest proper music store. Thank you for bothering to reply
@jappe3000 well I travel an hour everytime I'm trying out new gear. It's pretty much necessary. Because it never sounds the same in videos as it does with your guitar and amp. And style of play for that matter.
Great playing! But i hate the Schecter guitar!

For rhythm guitar, I'm really not a huge fan of this pedal; I prefer the Digitech TL-2 instead... The power chords sound so close to a Mesa.
Personally, I feel that where the MD-2 shines is for lead guitar; 2:10 is a perfect example how well this pedal does with single notes.

Is this pedal worth of buying? I really can't say anything on this vid. Customer reviews I read were everything between perfect and miserable

@jappe3000 how about just going to a music store and trying it out? That's what all us other people who aren't complete idiots do.
