this whole movie was amazing. its four hours long though! we watched in class while we were studying the Muslims and their religion in Ancient History. Unfortunetly i missed a big fight near the end but i saw the last five minutes. the ending was sweet X3
I remember when i read the book there was a tale about a princess who run away with a guy in a horse who can fly!!....it was so romantic love this book
@georgiaredneck193 ~arabian nights(2000):A betrayed sultan (Dougray Scott), obliged to remarry lest he lose his empire to his brother and unfaithful first wife, decides to behead new wife Scheherezade (Mili Avital) before she can betray him. But Scheherezade possesses a remarkable storytelling gift. She begins a tale, leaving it unfinished so the sultan will let her live another day. John Leguizamo co-stars in this production, which originally aired as a miniseries on ABC
I LOVE this movie! I watched it when they aired it on television, like, yeeeeeeears ago. I've been trying to find out where I can watch it online. Does anyone know where I can stream it (watch it online) or download the two part movie?
Thanks so much for posting this video: I liked it so much I went straight off and ordered the US DVD there and then - I'm loving watching it, but I do particularly like the scenes between the Sultan and Scheherazade; very nicely made - how come it's never been aired in the UK (that I'm aware of)? - with such a Brit-heavy cast it would have gone down a storm with hopeless British romantics like me...
After spending one night with his bride, the king has her executed at awn. This practice continues for some time, until the vizier's clever daughter Shahrazad (the name is perhaps better-known in English as "Scheherazade" or "Shahrastini", which is a Persian name) forms a plan and volunteers to become Shahrayar's next wife.
dThe story starts with the Persian Shahryar, king of an unnamed island "between India and China" (in modern editions based on Arab transcripts he is king of India and China), is so shocked by his wife's infidelity that he kills her and, believing all women to be likewise unfaithful, gives his vizier an order to get him a new wife every night (in some versions
The nucleus of these stories is formed by an old Persian book called Hazâr Afsâna (the Thousand Myths) (in Persian åÒÇÑÇÝÓÇäå). The later compiler and translator in Arabic is reputedly storyteller Abu abd-Allah Muhammed el-Gahshigar in the 9th century.
This is so obvious. Its like to say the name Suzy is Arabian? Never!!! Or say William Shakespeare is French?? !! Every one knows he wrote his storys in English!! Wright? So how these name could be mistaken for Arabian. If you are so mush into history why dont you check your archives of names around that time for these areas, and see which country comes up with it. And then tell whom ever that is steeling culture and history to stop their pathetic actions.
the people think the writer of such stories was iraqian person. do you know about our history? do you know our names before 400 years or 500 years or 1000 years? no i don't think so.. and the stories talk about the area the surronded the writers..
I will not discuses more this with people who have no clue and education about the history. The true name for this move should have been a thousand and one night!!(Not Arabian night) Which the story of shahrzad and shahryar . Both figure are Persian and with Persian names not Arabic names .these days Hollywood owners would like to distort the history and change the names for their own political set of mind since they dont like Persians any more now and kissing Arabs assess these days.
hahahahahah it called trading !!! are you normal ??? because if you think like this then when your country take oil from our country you will called stealing which i called trading ... didn't you hear about silk road? where arab went to China to take the fabric?????
so what u all wanna say is 1001 nights is fully arabic, originated from Arabia and etc? ok, if u dont say this ,what else u can say, people interested in knowing the truth can find it in less than 1 minute hahaha
you are really ignorant, because the writer of this story thought to be Iraqi who wrote about Sultan Haron al Rahid ( a kingdom in Iraq who ruled the arab and muslim world) , and why people though it is Haron because they are many similarity between the two sultans in the real world and in the story . and by the way the Arab who lived today in most Arabian pensulia consider to be the son's of Ismael who was the son of Ibrhim who came from Babylon and had two sons
The elders the father of the arab and the youngest the father of Jewish. So we arab who live in the south consider the arab who live in the north such as Iraq and so on our brothers because we consider to be Semitic. And I didn't talk about kurds or Iranian. And If you hate Saudi and arab the story didn't talk about them or about any sultans in their area it was about Iraqi's Sultans.

I do not think I am the one who is ignorant! Any one with a bit of brain left can do this. So please spear me the lip service about the story belonging to Iraqi or any Arabic literature!! go read!! and stop claming Persian litterateur and culture for your own ,
could you post it as Arabian nights do the ten min, parts, then Arabian Nights ! (or something) another ten min. parts and so on???? Please??!!! I love this movie and I can't find it anywhere!!! Please try!!
I should tell you, this clip focuses on the love between Scheherazade and Sultan Schahriar. It doesn't show the stories which are the best parts in my opinion.
In short, you aren't seeing the best of this movie and I recommend watching it at least once.
and btw....sorry for comment twice but i have to say this ...they made a huge mistake in this movie which is king haroon al rasheed that king in real story and in real life was a very wise man and powerfull king...not a jerk like he was in the movie.

why do you need to insult our nation to prove something silly?? i mean i can insult Persian people as well and said:
the first indian civilization was indus valley civilization (26001900BC)
the first persian empire was the median empire ( 728559 BC)
Iraq and Syria set the first civilization not IRAN or INDIA
