  • Just to add.... HDR processing with these timelapses does add a certain post-apocalyptic nuclear fallout edge ;) Composition and colours in the 4th segment are spot on. Lovely.

  • Love the 4th and 5th segments, 1-3 are a little over-processed for my tastes, which obscures the natural beauty inherent in these timelapses. I'd advise not to get too carried away with HDR since it is incredibly addictive...! I feel it should simply be a tool for achieving an exposure that approximates the dynamic range that our eyes perceive but which the camera is not capable of. It can also be utilised to add ambiance... but to be honest I don't think your time-lapses need added atmosphere.

  • @KoaliXx Thanks for the feedback.

These were my first foray into HDR, I feel HDR can be like drugs are for some people, a lot seems a good idea at the time, until you gain perspective from the cold light of day. I personally hate over processed HDR, it almost makes me nauseous, and am tempted to re-do these clips, but everyday is a school day, as they say.

  • @TallAlex1 Ps, check my latest lapse, "Misty haze of gas central heating emission over St. Werburghs." for a much more subtle and pleasing HDR effect.

  • wow amazing time lapse! a little question, did you make the HDR effect from each picture? or did you took like 3 shots everytime the counter told the shutter to take pictures? a bit confuse here :-)

  • @looniaz These are all single shot RAW frames, not as impressive as three shot wide EV processed ones, but the frame rate is nice and high this way...
