True. It's just that window in which Marauders can kite the crap out of zealots that you have to watch out. It's probably safer to only delay gas a little and mine just enough to build that first sentry if you scout multi-rax with tech labs. You can use fewer probes to mine and then pull probes off gas for a while. This is obviously situational, and anyone who doesn't go for quick concussive won't counter you.
That said, I really like your strategy and I want to try it out.
Skipping gas early on can be good against Protoss and Zerg, but you should probably play more standard vs. Terran since their early units are all ranged.
Deceptive though, because marauders do bonus damage to stalkers and equal range them (and can chase them easily with stim). Marauders actually have very poor raw dps vs zealots; it's only in the window between concussive shells and charge that marauders can beat zealots effectively. Zealot/sentry guardian shied drops marauder damage to a miserable 8/shot on zealots which have ~150 health!
I agree I need the gas sooner though. Even 1 sentry out when he walks up the ramp and...
Yeah... mass zealots is pretty noob of you man; as a toss player myself (low masters) I can say that I wish you didn't switch from Z to P... I suppose you at least didn't get an early forge like you did in your other games :P(seriously don't do that unless it's vs Z)
MOST standard viable toss openings involve a cyber core after the first gate and also, warp gate tech is absolutely necessary
@bbsggnore also, just fyi if you had FF trapped some of his marauders on the ramp, at the point where you got your sentry out you still would have lost the game since he would have high ground vision and could shoot at your units.
Pretty much the latest you should be getting your core is after 2 gates(if you want to be super aggressive)... no exceptions
One last rant-like comment... the WAY you made voidrays makes me ever so sad
I always just say hf at the start of the game because I don't want to ever be in the situation where I win or lose based on luck. It causes some pretty funny responses sometimes though.
A Protoss player called me out as having "NO MANNER!" and when I explained to him the game should be about having fun and playing to the best of you ability he responded "but I don't have any skill :(".
So yea, I immediatly suspected a 4 gate and saw it comming a mile away. ^_^
I hear chargelots counter marauders, because they're guaranteed to get at least one hit in even with the concussive shells.. I wonder if your zealots would've been able to kill an equal supply count of marines if terran did his shoot-and-run micro. :P
This reminded me of a post I just read on battle.net, where blizzard explained the recent balance change where emp doesn't take away all energy anymore: "Early/mid game sentries are almost a requirement vs. terran."
the sentry could have been the key there, the force field traps them in! when going against marauder rush, i guess it's actually a good way to counter them!
Yes, I'd have been in a winning position if I'd gotten a sentry before he pushed up, and there's no reason I couldn't have done so on a 2 gate opening. With that I could have killed every marauder with my zealots and had a big lead (easy expo).
Although less useful, a cannon would have performed similarly as I could deny him high ground view and have it do DPS cutting into the benefit of him kiting.
Basically, I just misplayed badly and got BM'd to boot..
I don't think the Terran player was bad mannered. If it wasn't a "good game" (and this one clearly wasn't), i don't see the point in saying "gg." Of course, saying "gg" by the losing player has an alternative meaning of signifying defeat. Maybe I'm not up on e-manners, but I don't see the point of you getting upset.
Well, at any rate I enjoy watching your HOMM3 and Civ casts, so thanks

It was luck, so it wasn't GG.

I don't think my mis-play constitutes "luck" :p. By that logic nobody should GG me because they ALWAYS win by luck lol.

4 or 5 zealots 2 stalkers and a sentry or 2 with a good force field splitting his army will rape that sooooo easily
