I have to admit I got into Youtube in an attempt to interact with the world once again. I have been suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for over 5 years. I suffer from the more severe version that leaves me barley able to perform daily routines. Even though to look at me you would think I was in good shape, but really I lost about 25 pounds, I can't even wear my wedding ring, it slides off. My question to you, Is hope not simply faith with no basis or why to it?

Speaking as someone who has been through major depression (to the point that I had 2 years of ECT treatment) you are right on. It is about having hope and even more importantly it is about having a definable goal and then working to accomplish that goal. Even if you have to start with the smallest goals imaginable, the sense of accomplishing something and moving forward has helped me. Then you can build on those small accomplishments and begin to move forward. Thank you for sharing.
Great video! Hope is indeed a very powerful thing, though I also have a strong faith in God. I understand that he won't just give me anything and that I actually have to work for happiness and the things I want. Hope is what killed the fear of me getting decent jobs and a happy relationship with the man that I am now married to (2.5 years!) Although people say you can talk to me, when you go thru it to that point of losing hope, it's not easy. I still deal with depression, but nothing to that point. A friend of mine killed herself in March, after a few days I was back to normal but she kept coming back when I was seeing everyday things. This video helped me realize that she didn't have hope or a suicide hot line, I wish could have saved her somehow but it was a matter of hope.

I have to admit I got into Youtube in an attempt to interact with the world once again. I have been suffering from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for over 5 years. I suffer from the more severe version that leaves me barley able to perform daily routines. Even though to look at me you would think I was in good shape, but really I lost about 25 pounds, I can't even wear my wedding ring, it slides off. My question to you, Is hope not simply faith with no basis or why to it?

Speaking as someone who has been through major depression (to the point that I had 2 years of ECT treatment) you are right on. It is about having hope and even more importantly it is about having a definable goal and then working to accomplish that goal. Even if you have to start with the smallest goals imaginable, the sense of accomplishing something and moving forward has helped me. Then you can build on those small accomplishments and begin to move forward. Thank you for sharing.

I understand that he won't just give me anything and that I actually have to work for happiness and the things I want. Hope is what killed the fear of me getting decent jobs and a happy relationship with the man that I am now married to (2.5 years!) Thank you for posting this. I think many people go thru or have gone thru this. I myself dealt with it in high school. Although people say you can talk to me, when you go thru it to that point of losing hope, it's not easy. I still deal with depression, but nothing to that point. Like you, the answer appeared to be growing up, getting out of the house, getting away from the source. Thank you for posting this. Sad that there are those who will be nasty when there are those who need someones help.

A friend of mine killed herself in March, after a few days I was back to normal but she kept coming back when I was seeing everyday things. This video helped me realize that she didn't have hope or a suicide hot line, I wish could have saved her somehow but it was a matter of hope.
