But having said that it would be nice if someone could make a video with the erly material that is lying around in diffrent tv production companies storagerooms. Maybe someone already have ??
My lovedrive for scorpions ended at lovedrive. However, I still listen to the earlier stuff all the time. They had something at that time, and it wasn't just one of the players. Must have been musical chemistry or something. UFO had "it" when Michael Schenker was in the band. Still listen, play, and teach some of the good metal from that era.U. Roth and M.Schenker were both melodic, emotive players, and their bands laid down a solid foundation for them. My humble opinion only,.....

Electric Sun has some interesting stuff.. but nothing beats his work with the Scorps on "Taken By Force" .... for me personally, it's a perfect blend of Uli's signature and free feeling riffing and the driving heaviness of the scorps... I don't tihnk anything in their catalog is as good as Taken By Force... It's just got this chug to it that hits me in the b*lls!

Rudolf and Klaus wrote 75% of the songs. They are the cohesive songwriters of the band. Whether it was Michael Schenker/Roth or Jabs as lead guitar players.
my advice for You is not to look on the amount of the stuff they wrote together, but its quality, Scorpions didnt had that great guitar sound without Uli, my favourite Scorpions song is "Sails of Charon", and in my opinnion Rudolf will never write something even close to that, which doesnt mean that he isnt a good musician

What the hell are you talking about? Yes Roth wrote the leads and the riffs that go along with the rhythm guitar. Roth left because he wanted to make his music and not play straight ahead rockers like Rudy was writing. He wanted musical freedom to roam and play more like Hendrix. Electric Sun sounds nothing like Scorps because the RHYTHM of the songs are totally different and no rhythm guitarist. There were Uli songs with the Scorps and Schenker/Meine songs. Uli provided leads/fills on all.

He doesn't have a wall of gain to hide behind, and his playing style is not easy to pull off. I won't try and get you to post your own music, but I challenge you to pull off even the intro to this song well, let alone make up anything like it at all.

I've been playing guitar for a year (so I'm still a noob) and I played this song... It's pretty easy, even the solos. It's all scales. Not to say roth wasn't talented, he certainly was. Just that this song isn't hard to play... but it doesn't need to. it still sound good.
Uli Jon Roth is a legendary and timeless guitarist, a trendsetter for the neoclassical movement.
Looking back, Scorpions may not have been the best vehicle for a man of Uli's abilities, and around 79-80 with glam, and pop-party LA metal hairbands - Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Kiss who wore mascara, lipstick, nail polish - scorpions changed their musical style with syrupy ballads! Uli had to leave then...
I stood next to Uli at Brick by Brick watching Michael Schenker there could not have been more than 200 people in attendance. I was star struck & three sheets so I didnt say much to him. He opened the show without Klaus unfortunately.
Just saw a version with Jabbs on lead... it was unnatural. AS if there was really no lead there... Scorps should make it a policy to only play this song if Uli is accompanying...
I love Uli, but would never say anything negative about Scorps. Klaus is an incredible vocalist, range is nearly as good as Dio. Rudolf provides a solid and tight rhythm, and they wrote some kick ass songs... Uli is indeed in a special class however, I consider him one of the top 3 guitarists of all time...Uli moved on, but at the time it was a good fit

The Scorpions are by far one of the best bands ever put together, but I personally hate Uli. They became successful only and I mean only when Matthias joined them!!!

you're right about the money thing cause Roth's solo career isn't very heavy but not mainstream appealing either. He wanted to do true neo-classical on lead guitar, so that's what he did. (as comparision, it's a lot less metal-directed than with Yngwie Malmsteen)

No I think Uli is great live (look Wacken video of that song, especially his solo is awesome). He is very different from Michael Schenker. I don't know if he is better than Michael but they are comparamble. Although I did not compare them. I just said that they are both legends.

Bypassing some of the better left out parts of your post, I'm thinking you don't have much technical understanding of what he's doing.
He doesn't have a wall of gain to hide behind, and his playing style is not easy to pull off. I won't try and get you to post your own music, but I challenge you to pull off even the intro to this song well, let alone make up anything like it at all.

I've been playing guitar for a year (so I'm still a noob) and I played this song... It's pretty easy, even the solos. It's all scales. Not to say roth wasn't talented, he certainly was. Just that this song isn't hard to play... but it doesn't need to. it still sound good.

I stood next to Uli at Brick by Brick watching Michael Schenker there could not have been more than 200 people in attendance. I was star struck & three sheets so I didnt say much to him. He opened the show without Klaus unfortunately.

I love Uli, but would never say anything negative about Scorps. Klaus is an incredible vocalist, range is nearly as good as Dio. Rudolf provides a solid and tight rhythm, and they wrote some kick ass songs... Uli is indeed in a special class however, I consider him one of the top 3 guitarists of all time...Uli moved on, but at the time it was a good fit

Btw. Scorpions were successful before Matthias joined them. And I didn´t invent this just now. For example, In Trance is on allmusic evaluated as their best album. In fact, it is. And it was recorded with Uli.

you're right about the money thing cause Roth's solo career isn't very heavy but not mainstream appealing either. He wanted to do true neo-classical on lead guitar, so that's what he did. (as comparision, it's a lot less metal-directed than with Yngwie Malmsteen)

Wow...! The Scorpions really kick ass and I think Uli Jon Roth is a Guitar God. He was the first to introduce Bach Rock way back in the late 60's and early 70's. It makes me crazy the way he makes playing look so effortless.
