  • Nice and I love the bass line in the back ground

  • its a funky moby dick lol

  • @AlmostSkater2100 You're right.

  • Make that hi hat a little sloppy to make it a little more SLEAZY.

  • Moby Dick)

  • Wondering where you get some of these grooves you use? I would to get a few bass recordings like this to just jam along to.

  • @nickthebold

I have a bunch available for download from my site. Look for "drumless tracks" and enjoy!

  • @GrooveDrummin Thank you so much!

  • moby dick for sure.

  • am i going nuts from awesomness or does this sound like moby dick

  • how are u recording the audio for this ? do u sync it with ur video ?

  • @aaronalwines

8 tracks of audio using m-audio profire 2626into pc, video gets recorded on the camera itself and then synced together using sony movie studio.

  • it sounds like moby dick , but i love your videos man, you're awesome ! =] keep it up !!

  • lol the bass sounds almost like Moby Dick

  • bonzo lives in your grooves :)

  • Love your playing - Thanks for posting!!

  • i like the groove.. nice one.. the bass is flawless..

  • what hi hats are thoes?

  • @xmackypoox1

Paiste 14" Sound Creations Hi-hats with sound edge.

  • can only praise you for sharing your technique, tricks and great drumming. And yes the filter on that video is killer. you got taste! keep up the good work. O.

  • i love you bass drum sounds, deep but rounded and not flat like most, have you any interior muffling on that Ambassador?

  • @SuperDrummerJoe

There is one felt on either side and a falam pad. Nothing inside, I've tried lining the interior with 1" foam (Ian Paice does this on his 26) but found the sound way too muffled and most of the attack was gone. Thank you for watching.

  • @GrooveDrummin My Ludwig doesn't need any muffling at all including the kick drum!! An experienced drum tech I know informed me that because drum heads are made better these days, its a lot better getting a true & controlled drum sound. Its all in the tuning & tensioning of the drums, stick sizes & of course having a great technique. Plus having good ears helps, drummers should tune to the sound of the band. Rock on!!!

  • @SuperDrummerJoe Yeah totally! I agree. So many people just take the life right out of their bass drums for control's sake I guess. I mean, it's all a matter of preference, and sometimes that kind of super-muffled sound works well with a band I guess, but I feel like, why have this big wood shell with two heads when it ends up sounding like suitcase or something. I wanna hear a note when I hit the bass drum.

  • It's called "sleazy groove" because it's a very sexy/seductive beat....fyi

  • Sounds like the bass line from Moby Dick.

  • @nickthebold yeah it does sound like Moby Dick! Lucky Mr Page isn't watching LOL!!!

  • @nickthebold I had that too =P

  • I like the perspective of the video, but you may want to think about using black sticks or something with color to contrast with the white on top of the drum. Love your videos by the way

  • This is the only vid I opted to use a high contrast to create the effect vanishing sticks. None of my other vids have this effect. Thank you for watching!

  • another fine video sir : ) are you using pearl eliminator double pedals? and if so how well do you like them? cause i think thats what i want to get

  • Thanks!

Yes, the double Eliminator is great...highly recommended! I tried DW, Yamaha, Tama and found the Pearl to be the best of them all. Go for it :)

  • as usual, your sound... 5 *

  • i like it!

  • Do you use french grip?

  • For the most part yes...I experiment with german and moeller also.

  • I don't know if you can hear it, but doesn't the first half of the bass line riff remind you of moby dick ?

Before the change at about 0:45 or so , love the drumming and like the filter :)

    5/5

  • hehe, yeah, I did. When I first gave this one a whirl I played the Moby Dick groove but I messed with it a bunch before coming up with this one. I thought of doing it with the same kind of feel but different and Page loved when Bonham played sleazy..so I hear :)

  • Hahaha :D Brilliant :)

I don't know if you've seen it yet but I've just uploaded a new cover with a guy called 'alexledzepguy' well he changed his account and he's now known as UberPiroxsFriend, but it's me and him playing Stairway To Heaven from The Song Remains The Same :)

Check it out if you're not busy and tell me what you think :)

  • yea it does! great grooves btw... keep rocking

  • I like that little cymbal fill towards the end. :)
