  • This is true. She most likely was an agnostic but she made her feelings towards the god she loved and the world she lived in in her diary before she died.

  • well, on the jesus was good subject. all i will say is we have not been given anything to judge him by. how much of the bible is actually about jesus.

its only 1 book. i dont think it is fair to say that you can describe an entire persons life with just one book. even if you only lived 30 years or so.

im only 26, and i know i cant even fit this year in to one book. much less all 26 years.

  • Christopher Hitchens has plenty to say on how "Above Criticism" Mother Teresa was. You can find a very illuminating short three-part series here on youtube on the subject.

  • A-hole that I am, there is no one that is truly above question for me but I certainly have heroes.

Eastwood is a genius who has been successful at most of the things he's put his hand to. His personal love life is of zero interest to me.

I have questions about Teresa but they aren't motivated by the abortion issue. The questions I have about Teresa are at least related to the questions she had about herself. She had very deep questions about herself and the results of her work. So do I.

  • Great video

    Enjoyed watching it.

    Grandmoms can rule.

  • 1 & 2?

I'll let others diss you on.

    3 & 4?

Yeah, I see the tempations there. OK.

    5?

    You're lucky on that count.

    3 *s

  • I don't think anyone can answer this question sensibly. The only way you can know that someone is beyond criticism is if you know everything about them, everything they've done and everything they've said. That has to be everything throughout their whole life. So really, that could only admit people who are already dead who we have very clear and accurate records on. I don't think anyone can say that of anyone else alive or dead. Maybe most admired but not beyond criticism.

  • Ahh - Jesus did liken God to a King who would kill those who did not serve him (Luke 19:27), he told you to sell everything you own (Mark 19:17-21, Luke 18:22, Luke 12:33, Luke 9:23, Luke 12:33), hate your family (Luke 14:26), he came not to bring peace but the sword, and he trashed a church because they were collecting money. It's not all roses.

I really like your videos - and after the whole "gravity" thing, I thought I would never say that.

  • Beautiful SC. You're really hitting a powerful and persuasive tone.

I'm an atheist and your thoughts on JC and abortion are some of the least "sensational" and most powerfully, thought provoking I've heard in a long time .... *nods*

    Great vid!

  • "Sacred cows make the best hamburgers."

I could never do a video like this. I don't have "idols" or "sacred cows." I dunno, I just see people as people, flaws and all.

I certainly have authors, musicians, and others I admire but I think that the imperfections they have are what makes up their character. Often, they wouldn't be the people they are without those quirks.

  • The Good The Bad and The Ugly is my favorite movie of all time/ Best movie ever made in my opinion.

  • thats a perfect example of a movie i can watch over and over...the scenes, the story, the music...it has an epic scope.

Tuco rules!..most films you watch once and forget.

  • You see in this world there are 2 kinds of people my friend, those with loaded guns, and those who dig, YOU dig.

  • "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" is an incredible movie, but my favorite movie of Sergio Leone`s is "A Fistfull of Dynamite," which is known in the U.S.A as "Duck you Sucker!"

Sergio Leone is the person who I think is beyond criticism. All of his movies are brilliant.

  • jesus never existed

    god is imaginary

  • mother theresa had alot of more or less doubtfull moral views, you should watch the "Hell's Angel: Mother Teresa by Christopher Hitchens" video here on youtube or read "The Missionary Position". i totally agree on eastwood and scorcese !!

  • I actually see Jesus as a bit of a coward. A tricky and celever coward, but a coward none the less. Unwilling to directly stand up against the corrupted jewish law at the time. Theres more about him that I find unlikable. However, compared to a lot of the other religious leaders of his time he definitely comes out looking like a great person

Some info on mother Teresa frightens me. Much of it is chilling, sad and cruel. Sometimes I feel bad for her patients and sometimes I feel bad for her.

  • It sickens me how many times Scorsese has been screwed at the Oscars..."politics" of it aside...he's should've won his first one a long damn time ago...among all of his other films, all greats...but I was floored when he didn't win for Gangs of New York

  • i know...goodfellas should have won too...i thought that the oscar for departed was just a gift...certainly not his best work...lets hope shutter island kicks ass...it looks great.

  • Yeah, I was kind of annoyed with The Departed...especially by Matt Damon, love to hate his character imo lol...and I can't really put my finger on it, but something about Leonardo Decaprio has always bugged me...

Gotta love Jack Nicholson though, if anyone can save a movie...it's him!

  • Goodfellas was awesome.

  • Stonedcommander you should read Missionary Position if you want to learn about other criticisms of Mother Teresa. You said you only know of one criticism of her but that's not all there is.

  • i will look into this matter...thanks

  • That book was written by Christopher Hitchens, who proudly hates faith and the faithful. WOuld you expect him to write an honest book about Mother Theresa? Just remember, while she was in Calcutta taking lepers and orphans off the street and caring for them, Hitchens was comfortable at home dreaming-up ways to make her look bad--precisely because millions revered her for her faith, and he couldn't stand that.

  • You might want to do some research into the actual nature of the 'care' your saint was actually providing to the unfortunates that ended their days in her hospice.

  • Hitchens doesn't hate the faithful, his own brother is very religious. There is a big difference between hating faith and hating the faithful. I also hate faith but I don't hate religious people. I just don't like people believing fairy tales. Do you think it's a good idea for adults to believe Vishnu exists? How about Zeus? Personally I think it's a bad idea for people to have faith in stuff that's not real.

  • As for Hitchens book, I don't have to assume one way or the other like you because I have actually read it. Instead of prejudging things why don't you actually look into it and have an informed opinion.

Also, when you said Mother Theresa was caring for these people do you know what that means? Did she give them painkillers? Medicine? Nope and nope. They laid there and died while she prayed for them.

  • I consider a source before I take anything in, and Hitchens is NO reliable source regarding anything having to do with faith. I watched Mother Theresa's wake on TV. It was on late, late at night where I live. I saw lepers with many parts of their bodies missing - people the world throws away - bringing tribute to this woman. That's all the testimony I need.

  • Name one reliable source when it comes to faith LOL!

  • Jesus Christ. Take him at his word and and I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

  • I will as soon as he comes and talks to me.

  • "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Jesus said that. Now it's your turn.

  • Ok I just asked, I'll let you know when he comes and talks to me.

  • My aunt, who died at 94, taught adults to read long after she retired as a teacher. She taught on reservations most of her life. The only time I ever went to church (dragged, against my will) was because she expected us to go, she didn't have to say a word. Her sister, my other aunt, was a whore in the 20's, 30's, 40's maybe the 50's. Only hoped she stopped in the 60's and beyond. Maybe whore is too strong of a word. "Loose" might be a better term.

Together they struck a cosmic balance.

  • our differences in lifestyle and beliefs have always existed and we see it in our oldest relatives...everyone has the crazy aunt or the sweet grandma...the good twin and the evil one...ah,differences...gotta love it.

  • stonedcommander...I must say, you have a likable personality. I have Christian friends (and one Hindu friend along with his family) and differences in belief have not ever been a bone of contention. I guess we don't talk about it, which is why as mere human beings we can be good friends. I wonder, is that the key? To simply accept another's personal beliefs? Me and you, stonedcommander, we don't share the same beliefs, but we can easily coexist.

    I enjoy your videos. Peace.

  • thanks and yes...that is part of the key to peaceful coexistence...just like respect is even more important and a definitely possible feeling to have towards each other...we may never love each other but we can respect each other...in this mutual respect through time and experience we may learn to also love each other...

  • I almost agree with you guys. I definitely respect your rights, no question and would expect the same in return. I wouldn't expect you to respect my beliefs though. I think that kind of respect needs to be earned. If you just respect any old thing I believe then your respect isn't exactly worth much. I don't respect the belief that Voodoo works because it's ridiculous. I would respect that person's right to that belief though.
