  • i thought the females name was breakfast because their dinner and lunch.

  • Woah how much did that cost/???

  • BEAST

  • I have a 60 gallon but when the 2 I have get bigger I will move to 150+

  • do u NEED a filter and that outflow thing

  • Nvm

  • Where is the basking area?

  • can anyone help me out wat kinda fish can u put with RES turtle i dont want my RES to eat the fish

  • @dinoxtreme247 I have 13 Cichlids in with my Yellow Bellied Slider in a 60 gallon tank. She doesn't even bother with them. They are smart and fast enough

  • Beautiful RES's and set up. Always good to see someone taking correct care of their turtles. So many people buy them and put them in a small tank and wonder why their turtles get sick or die.

I only have a 75g tank, but then again I only have 1 RES, with 1 feeder fish (silver goldfish) Actually had bought many feeder fish, and hes the only one who has outsmarted the turtle. lol Hopefully your fish will too. Best of luck with your turtles.

  • What fish do you have

  • I have a 50 gallon

  • You beat me my 10 gallons! I have a100 gallon long tank, and i did not pay a cent for it or the nice oak stand! I traded my Nintendo ds for it! I have a Adult male red eared slider, A 4inch peninsula cooter and a 1 inch pastel red eared slider. I am setting up the 100 gallon now!

  • How much did it cost for this whole setup?

  • @UnderRedAlert Oh haha I just realized it was august 2010. Its good to hear theyre better!

  • lunch and dinner have some very terrible fungus. (google it if you haven't heard of it) If i were you, i'd take them all to the vet and they'll prescribe a silver solution that you're to soak your turtles in to kill the fungus. it's harmless to turtles, but it gets rid of the fungus with daily baths. Fungus can kill your turtles...

  • @TheRedChang

Thanks for the warning, however it was due to their scutes coming loose and having an air tramped between their shell and scutes. This video was posted about a year ago and their shells have cleared up. Thanks for the warning though, hope this info comes in handy for whoever needs it =)

  • @707Megan707

Yeah, we originally had breakfast but he died when he was still a baby... ~_~ rip

  • @UnderRedAlert i have a question about how much did your turtle tank cost in all?????

  • @TAYLORRHEASWIFT

The tank and stand was given to me by a friend (I was lucky!!) everything else I had to buy. If I had to guess about how much everything cost including the 3 turtles ($20 each) I'd say about $175

  • thats cool

  • Were u hungry when u bought them?

  • @JakeClementine LOL no! My fiance named them =)

  • nice tank

  • I have two small red ear sliders and I'm preparing a 120 gallon tank. I have purchased a Rena Filstar XP3, the UVA/UVB lights, a ceramic heat emitter and a submersible heater. They will be arriving next week. I'm planning to fill up the tank about halfway. When I initially fill the tank, do I need to cycle it? In other words, do I need to have the filter running with no turtles for a while to get the chemistry of the water correct?

  • I had a huge tank with 6 red eared sliders and 1 fish... The fish lasted 1 night before getting eaten.

  • I'm getting 1 for Xmas yay!

  • dude nice tank my res turtles r 4 months old

  • how do you actually manage to clean a tank that size? what do you do :/

  • how much is that tank if i bought it at a store

  • how come the shell is white

  • u are not going to eat those are u

  • @supergermanninja What?!?! O_o eat them?!?!?!! No!!! They're my pets!!! I ♥ them!! lol

  • @UnderRedAlert he does that to me to

  • cool man but ur turtles donot eat the sharks mine always get sleepy

  • y dose my turtle swim away or hopes right off of his basking platform when ever he sees me??

  • @BDoggy45 That is normal. In fact that is why they're called "red eared sliders" because when they see a threat they would hope off or "slide" off wherever they are into the water where they are safe.

  • wow my tank is horrible compared to that :( and i felt proud.. haha

  • 120 gallon fits - ONE red eared slider

360 gallon fits - three red eared sliders

450 gallon fits - three red eared sliders + 3 Bala sharks

Thats if you want everything to be full grown and heathly

  • @iEnjoyPickels

Thanks for the tip. Although I'm going to build a pond in my backyard once they get a bit bigger. So for now I feel ok with the size of my tank.

  • @UnderRedAlert its still a pretty amazing set up!!! You have some beautiful males!

  • @iEnjoyPickels i have a painted turtle and a bala shark and my tank is not that big but my turtle and my fish are comfortable is that fine

  • dude i LOVE IT SO MUCH thats the best so far

  • @iamPROuknow

    Thanks a lot ^_^

  • wat was cost of just tank

  • Nice tank

  • nice tank setup u have really nice sliders, i esp like lunch, his shell looks so dif from most other sliders, is there a reason y or jus randomly like that?

  • great setup but the turtles dont look healthy

  • hey you have a pretty good setup here, however from the look of the underbelly of the turtle you need a basking dock that stays dry all of the time, try something that is more out of the water, look around for ideas on a forum called redearslider , lots of great ideas there.

  • @m1ste2tea

Thanks for the tips =) I'll look into it!

  • U should fill up ur tank and make

An external basking area... U have 3 turtles each 5 inches or bigger thats 150 gallons they should have probably more... Pluss all those

    Balas.........

  • @JRG0921 not at all man, that whole "10 gallon for every inch of turtle" is jus a guideline to keep ppl aware of the space their turtles require to be comfortable n healthy, it isn't written in stone. his tank looks spacious enough now n even if they grew a few more inches each this kid's doin fine (=

  • whats up with there back of the shells its all white!!

  • @richpinoy82

It was their scales coming loose, they were shedding at the time. their shells are nice and green now =)

  • hey man i was just wondering it there is a specific rating of the uvb bulb that i need to get.?

could you give me some help please.

  • @pattyboy1001 hey man i have turtles n i use zoomed basking lights. they contain both hot basking light and uva light and i usually say go with a 75 watt bulb, BUT...it depends on how close ur turtle is to the light bulb. i dont have my water filled all the way of my turtles will clime out so i buy 100 watt bulbs since there is a fair amount of distance between my turtles n the bulb. hope this helped (=

  • Nice setup I have a decent setup but it

Is only 20 gallons because my turtles are babies and check out my videos and the biggest mistake I ever made was putting plecos, a tiger Oscar, and a couple feeders in my tank my red eared sliders took all the fish and killed them all and all the fish were over 4 inches except the feeders and my turtles are only 1 inch and the guy at petco told me not to put bala sharks in my tank because my turtles would kill them and my ammonia is too high

  • @Andrewlambrou1997 yea too many fish can be problematic if ur not using a conditioner to properly treat the water. jus go to ur local pet store n buy one. i use prime, it removes not only chlorine, but also chloramine and ammonia, it detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, and it provides slime coat as well. i find it to be one of the best ull find at the pet store because it not only fights so many problems, but the amount u have to use is alot less than other commercial brands.

  • where did u buy ur water filters and the intakepipe

  • @xxxMJ23xx

The water filter I bough from Pets Mart. The Water filter is the Rena Filstar XP2, and it came with the water intake and water outlet. Hope this helps =)

  • Heya nice tank ^_^ There were a few things I had questions about -- is that dark gravel in the bottom of your tank? Gravel's not great to have in with your turtles because they often eat it and it can obstruct their bowels. Also, do you have your UVB light sitting ontop of glass? That defeats the purpose of having the light as the beneficial rays don't go through glass or plastic. Turtle tanks shouldn't have lids in general -- it causes humidity and that leads to shell rot.

  • @x15stitches

    Hello,

Yes, that is gravel in the bottom of the tank. It's very small (like sand) and when they do eat it they just pass it through their body. I was concerned about this when i first put it in so I monitored them very closely. They really like to dig, and sometimes sleep with half their bodies under the sand and their top shell and heads exposed.

And No, the UVA/B light is sitting on top of a metal screen lid. The other half of the tank has an open top also.

    Thanks ^_^

  • nice set up..! ur trtles r neat..i have a res about 16yrs.. check my video out...! mayb u can help with sum pointers on da set up....! can ur turtls get up 2 da dock without no help..? cuz mines struggles cuz its 2 big..!

  • lovely set up you have there :)

  • your turtles are big compared to mine how big are your turtles?

  • @YawningBoy

They are about 2-3 years old. They grow to be the size of a dinner plate when fully grown. =)

  • @YawningBoy look up My new red ear slider tank in hazel crest thats how big tell me what u think

  • I GOT A BOY WERE DO U GET YOUR GIRLS FROM

  • @barrondeandre

I went to Petco the other day and all they had were female turtles. I guess you just have to get lucky?

  • whats that green stuff every where

  • do you use a uv light or basking light?

  • @YawningBoy

I use both, the light assembly has both a UVA/UVB light and a separate heat lamp as well.

  • Good job on the 10 gallon per inch rule! :)

  • @xbrittxunlovedx

Thanks!! I'll be uploading a new turtle video soon.

  • @UnderRedAlert

    HAHA LOVE THE NAMES!! :D

  • ur wearin boxers

  • you have the exact setup i want. a 100+ gallon tank and a rena canister filter. lucky! is the rena filter easy to use and setup? I've never owned a canister filter and I eventually want to upgrade when I have the money

  • dam thats alot of white for shedding it does look like shell rot but if their shells are normal again then you should be fine

  • why are the turtles shells white? anyway nice names:)

  • @ninjaturtlemango300

Haha thanks :) His shell was white because he was shedding his scales. His shell is back to being green like normal lol.

  • very nice have the sharks been eaten yet?

  • @themaniusedtob

hahaha good question!! Nope, they arestill alive and healthy. They've been in the tank for about 6 months now.

  • looks like your turtles have a shell rot problem I suggest that you take them to the veterinarian

  • @ciscoman95

It's their scales coming loose, they're starting to shed. I'll take a closer look though just in case, thanks.

  • how long does the water last with your GIANT filter???

  • @madturtlefan

I normally clean/change a portion of the water ever like 3-4 months. and I clean the filter about every 6 months. =)
