There are some Analogue to Digital solutions out there for not too much. Roxio has one and the Pinnacle Dazzle both go for under $100. Maybe they would be worth investing in until you get all of your analogue stuff to digital, then sell them on Ebay.
Looks like the DCR 41 is more of a solid state memory camera. Good if you just want to shoot to a hard drive or a memory card but not so useful for analogue transfers.
Search Dazzle video converter on You Tube. I have seen a number of tutorial that are quite good at explaining what is needed to capture live video game footage.
Oh ok thats too bad. Thankyou so much for taking the time to look into it though!
Earlier i was looking at the Dazzle systems but i didn't really understand how they worked or which one was the best for me. I wanted to know how to get VHS to my camera because i wanted to get my Mario Kart footage in good quality onto my camera (instead of crappy quality filming the TV) so i could transfer to computer for editing etc. Could you please help me and find out what i should buy?
I'm sorry according to Sony your camera doesn't have Analog Audio/Video Input(s). That means you can't feed analogue video into your camera. No video in means no video out either. Don't despair you can always get a Pinnacle Dazzle or the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD device. Both will do the conversions for you. If I can help you with anything else please let me know.
That sounds easy. I have a Jazz Elite High Definition HDV178 Video Camera. I might do it tomorrow because my brother Noah is playing Guitar Hero 3 right now. Does it work for my Jazz Elite High Definition HDV178 Video Camera I got? Thanks for sharing!
Sorry as far as I can tell the Jazzy doesn't have the ability to make a conversion from an analogue source. You'll have to find a different camera or get a device specifically designed to make the transfer.
Umm hey i am having trouble, i have a Samsung SC-D382 MiniDV camera and i and it doesn't have the setup menu when i put it on VCR mode and i tried it with a older sony camera from 2004 it doesn't have a setup as welland it has a setup section and there is a display option that says LCD and V-Out and please respond and if these tips work - you just save me money on buying a new VCR that connects with a DV cable, If not, well this was a big waste of my time
I checked on your Samsung camera and it doesn't have the feature where it lets you pass video through the camera and capture it on your computer. You might want to look at the Pinnacle Dazzle or the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD devices as options for helping you capture your VHS videos.
I got a minidigital camera, it has av plugs that are yellow and black, but my VCR has a video row and an audio row and on the downrows its input and output, well, I have the right camera but the VCR output and input holes are white, I plug it in. I don't see setup on my newer camera, HELP.
Put the yellow plug into the video output connection. Put the black one into the audio output connection. Now the question is, will your camera take that signal back into itself and then convert it and send it down the firewire to your computer. Tell me the name and model number of your camera and I'll see if I can find out the answer.
Well, i don't got the dv connector right now but, do you think it will work without. dv connector?. and i got the problem.. When i set the connector ( red, white, yellow ) on the scart connector. i got a swich on scart connector ( on/off) ,i put it on.. but it won't show the screen :s? and i switched the camera on "play mode"
From what I can find your camera doesn't have a video input so you can't feed the signal from your VCR into your camera. You'll have to borrow a camera from someone who has that capability or get a different type of device that will take an analogue signal and turn it into a digital signal for you.
Your camera isn't the type that can make the conversion to firewire. You will need to find a DV camera that can make the conversion or buy something like the Pinnacle Dazzle, that will convert your analogue signal to digital for capture on your computer.
My Panasonic PV-GS320 Mini-DV Camera has the A/V port, but I can not find anywhere in the menu where I would turn on VCR-DV, and when I play the VHS tape, nothing shows up on the LCD screen of the DV camera.
I've read that the camera may not have analog to digital passthrough, but supports it. Do you know what I can do to get it to work? If I can't get it to passthrough to a PC, I should at least be able to see it on the camera I thought.
Bad news, I found this on the web. "These problems, compounded by the crippling loss of features compared to Panasonic MiniDVs of the past (focus ring, analog-to-digital pass through, hot shoe, headphone jack, mic jack, etc.) are the result of a business decision Panasonic made when the introduced the 2006 models. They cut features and they cut the price."
No analog-to-digital pass through for you. You'll have to look for another option.
i have a sony mini dv camcorder and i cant get the videos on my pc its a dell xps so theres not the mac problem but i heard you need a firewire is this true
The vhs-c camera is in the same boat with the other two. You will need to borrow a camera with the transcending capabilities like mine or get a Dazzle or some other sort of device that will change your signal into a digital one.
From what I can find the DCR-trv19 definitely doesn't have the capability to do the AV to DV transfer. I can't find anything that says the DCR-TRV140 digital 8 won't do it but I also can't find anything that says it will so I'm guessing it won't work either. You'll have to go another route like purchasing a Dazzle DVD Recorder for around $50 bucks. It will take your video signals and put them on your computer through the USB port.
If you are connecting your camera to the DVR to push video from the camera tot he DVR then use "out." I'm not sure what LCD stands for, LCD is probably the type of flip out screen on your camera but why would that be a setting? Tell me the model number of your camera and I will look into it a little more.
Does your DVR have RCA inputs? The are the ones that are usually Yellow, White, and Red. If the DVR has those inputs, then you connect the output of the VCR to the input of the DVR. Then you probably need to go into the DVR menu and make sure it is looking to the RCA or composite inputs for a signal. Then I suppose you can just play the VCR and capture to the DVR. If I have missed something or my answer is too simplistic, let me know.
I have all of the things you have but i have a sony Handycam. Can you please reply soon or make a video about it. The menu thingy is called display and it says LCD or V OUT/LCD. What do I do?
I don't fully understand your question. Please ask it again and I will do everything I can to help you. Sorry for the slow response as well, I was sick for a few days. Feeling much better now.
I'm sorry, that camera doesn't have any inputs for video. You won't be able to connect a VCR for digitizing of your VHS tapes. You will have to look for another source to transfer you VHS videos over to digital for capture on your computer.
If your camera has inputs then yes. My small digital picture camera doesn't have any way to input video or audio so I can't do it. If yours does then you can, if not then you will have to borrow a larger Mini DV camera from a friend or family member in order to transfer your videos from VHS.
That depends on what type of equipment you have. If you have a camera like mine that will accept a video input then you have a few options. Are you using a VCR to run your TV through? Do you change channels with your VCR remote? If so then you might be able to take the output of your VCR and feed it into your camera.
If you have a cable box with RCA outputs you might be able to run the box directly into your camera. Let me know if these are options or if you need to look at alternatives.
That was sooo helpful. It actually worked for me. You were so easy to understand. I googled until I got brainfried. You're the only one who actually taught me what to do. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
can i do it backwards?

I like the camera but as I said it would have saved me money if it had the input type solution where I could transfer TO the camera.
Yeah..it transfers to the laptop real nicely and I like the non-HD type storage..no moving parts to break.
